About NHYTG from nyc:

Rainbow vs Charmbracelet (56,094) by NHYTG from nyc
My choice is Rainbow, Charmbracelet is even my least favorite MC album. I have always had the idea that for Mariah it was hard to find the right musical direction after the Glitter debacle. Some nice tracks (Through The Rain, The One and You Had Your Change) but as a whole a bit uninspired, little messy bunch of tracks. For me this is the only MC album that feels unfinished, some tracks seem somewhat out of place on this album. I just don't feel this album as a whole. Rainbow on the other hand is still great to me, I remember it was made in a hurry because Heartbreaker was already a big hit. If Mariah would have taken some more time for this album it would easily have been Butterfly part 2. After Tonight, Can't Take That Away, How Much and Petals are my favorite tracks, Against All Odds is a great cover (the album version, not the horrible Westlife duet) and the Heartbreaker remix is one of her best remixes. Too bad Rainbow marks the end of an extremely huge era, many artists can only dream of a decade like Mariah had.

Isreali interview (55,889) by NHYTG from nyc
I like the interview, but the dress. I don't really care that Mariah wants to show her boobs all the time but sometimes it's just too much. This dress is ok for Las Vegas but she should have worn a more proper one for this occasion. She's looking cheap in an expensive dress here, it's not sexy al all. Maybe she should take a look at JLo who knows very well how to look hot at the age of 45. Again, I think she should dress the way she wants to, but like this she will become the next Dolly Parton.

I agree, some people seem to forget that is what Mariah loves to do most musically.

That's an easy one: My All, it's my all-time favorite song, still gives me chills after all these years.

#1 To Infinity (55,341) by NHYTG from nyc
The album is still going strong on Asian iTunes charts: #1 in Taiwan and Indonesia, #9 in the Philippines, #5 in Hongkong, #18 in Thailand, #7 in Singapore, #8 in Malaysia. Greatest Hits is #9 in Laos.

Packeriah / Rainbow (55,297) by NHYTG from nyc
I must say I like the recent Packeriah stories and rumors, at least the silly stories about Mariah being a desperate drunk and drugaddict since her divorce are gone. I think she has got her sweet revenge by being able to show the world she's an attractive happy woman who is wanted by a very rich guy. And about Rainbow, I also play this gem a lot lately. The Daydream, Butterfly and Rainbow era is by far my favorite Mariah era anyway, I also think these albums are so much more personal than the first three studioalbums. Too bad that after 1999 she hasn't been able to maintain this level, imo TEOM and MIAMTEC have been the only really great albums in the Virgin and Island/DefJam era, the rest is just average to me, nice albums but not great.

#1 To Infinity (55,252) by NHYTG from nyc
Again Asia is not letting Mariah down. While the album has left the charts in the US and Europe, it's still doing very well in a number of Asian countries. Watching the Asian iTunes album charts showed me that the album is still very alive over there, in some countries it's even #1 at this very moment.

Songs I don't like (55,227) by NHYTG from nyc
I totally agree on "Boy (I need you)", don't like it either. Other non-favourites are "Up out my face", "I'm that chick", "Touch my body", "Against all odds" with Westlife, "Get your number" and "Loverboy the remix" version. .

Really nice to see #1 To Infinity at #1 in the Indonesian iTunes album top 100 right now.

I do agree with you but look at Madonna's and Janet's latest singles, Madonna's or Jennifer Lopez' latest abums or Whitney's latest live album. Same stories, only marginal success. I don't expect huge sales for Janet's forthcoming album either. Seems like when an artist gets older their releases seem to be just interesting for their fanbase. So be it. I don't mind Mariah not being as successful as she once was. Sales of MIAMTEC may have been poor but it's one of my favorite Mariah albums anyway. As long as she is not making desperate moves (thinking of the video's for Booty or Bitch I'm Madonna) to gain some success it's fine with me.

Clearly Jermaine hasn't got anything interesting to tell about himself. I think it's a bit pathetic that he keeps talking about Mariah over and over. I don't think he really is a friend of hers anymore. He better let Mariah do what she wants to do and leave it up to the fans to like it or not. Looks like Mariah is enjoying her (not so) private life and she should. She deserves happiness after all she has been through. I hope James will appear to be be Mr. Right for her.

#1 To Infinity still big Japan (54,989) by NHYTG from nyc
#1 To Infinity is well promoted in Japan: now #14 in the Japanese iTunes album top 100 while it was #45 yesterday. Nice to see the album doing so well over there.

Much in common (54,784) by NHYTG from nyc
I see two people of the same age, both rich and succesful, both divorced twice, both having younger children and apparently loving each other. I can't see what the problem is here. They both have played this game before. It's not up to others to tell them what they should or should't do. We have seen some nice pictures of them, that's all, no need to jump to conclusions already.

James / Nick (54,772) by NHYTG from nyc
I hope James will turn out to be Mr. Right for Mariah, I like to see her happy and imo she looks happy, she looks fantastic too. I don't think the distance between the US and Australia is that much of a problem when you are as rich as these two are. Maybe she will do a Janet, leave the spotlights for a few years and enjoy a happy private life. James looks a guy who is really down to earth, I think a man like that will be great for her. And about Nick, I think he realizes what he has lost and that he has lost her for good. Poor guy, still thirsty. Bit of a pathetic Instagram message.

Ardis logic / remix (54,634) by NHYTG from nyc
Thanks for posting that one, the best remix of Infinity I've heard so far. I expected some official remixes to be released, but now I don't see it happen anymore. Some already mentioned it before but I also want an album with unreleased tracks from the Sony years, maybe that should have been a better move than releasing #1 To Infinity. At least it would have been more interesting for the fans. I also would have liked a special anniversary edition of the debut album, Don't Play That Song should have been on it. I love Mariah's performance of that song.

First time I really heard Mariah (54,548) by NHYTG from nyc
I remember that moment very well: I was driving my car with the radio on. Suddenly I was captured by a song that was being played and it totally blew me away. It appeared to be Mariah Carey's Someday. I already knew her name and I had heard Vision Of Love and Love Takes Time but I never really paid that much attention to "the new Whitney Houston" because at the time I was a huge fan of Whitney herself. Still love Whitney very much but that day Mariah became my absolute favourite singer and she still is today.

Thanks for your post, glad you agree. I can't help it, I have had it with all those excuses and conspiracy theories. First of all I doubt Tommy's power to sabotage Mariah's career, let's not forget the huge success of TEOM and three #1's since she left Sony, he hasn't been able to stop her from achieving that. He hasn't been able to stop Sony from resigning her. He hasn't been able to stop her from receiving a huge paycheck for Vegas. Honestly I think he moved on with his life, maybe even wishes Mariah the best these days. After all 1998 is a long time ago. And this talk about so called buzz-singles, I just don't buy it. I think it's very sweet and loyal that fans try to find reasons not to blame Mariah for things that go wrong but maybe there's a chance that reality is a bit different.

Sabotage? (54,364) by NHYTG from nyc
I don't want to be rude or negative on anybody else's posts but reading about Sony trying to sabotage Mariah seems a bit odd to me since they have just signed her. Any record company wants to make money, I think Sony isn't any different in that. Infinity has had lots of promotion in the US and it just didn't work out well. The general public didn't like the track or, more serious, don't care that much about Mariah at all anymore. There have been plenty of flops before and the last few years I think Mariah may have a big image problem. I have a very strong feeling that the brand Mariah Carey is seriously damaged by things that have happened in the past. When I read anything about Mariah in the Dutch press most of the times it seems like Mariah is a bit of a silly person, living in a fairytale world doing her own silly things. Some really bad performances didn't do her very well either. Most of the time reactions of non-fans are negative: she can't sing anymore, she's fat, she's foolish, she's old, she dresses to young etc. I wonder if it's still possible for her to regain love and respect of the general public again, I also wonder if Mariah herself cares that much or is willing to work hard enough just to try to achieve that. Especially JD telling the story about Mariah not taking her career too serious has made me wonder if she herself is not, at least partly, to blame for all recent flops and failures. We all know how quickly she seems to abandon singles and albums lately.

Album sales (54,186) by NHYTG from nyc
I just noticed that #1 to Infinity is down to #58 at Billboard's Album Top 200. Better than I expected, probably due to sales of physical cd's. Does anybody know if cd's sold in the Ceasars Palace shop are included in Nielsen SoundScan sales results?

5 Mariah songs I really don't like (54,121) by NHYTG from nyc
Ha, I think this is a funny idea. Mine are:
1) Against All Odds feat. Westlife: I do like the album version a lot but to me this track really sucks. Sounds uninspired, just leaning on Westlife to make make a hit. I knew it was a hit in some European countries and Asia but I was unpleasantly surprised to find it on the European tracklist of #1 To Infinity. My least favorite Mariah track.
2) Boy (I Need You): Mariah has made some songs that I like to call "the silly songs", songs with silly lyrics that are not suitable for a woman her age or blessed with her talent as a singer or songwriter. Like this one.
3) Up Out My Face: Same reason, most of the times I skip it when I play Memoirs.
4) I'm That Chick: Same reason, this should not have been put on an album that has Side Effects and Migrate on it.
5) Touch My Body: Same reason, great video, hugely succesfull but I never liked it, another silly song.

The boobs (54,073) by NHYTG from nyc
Will there ever be a Mariah Carey video without the decollete in a leading role?

Near future (53,960) by NHYTG from nyc
I don't think the re-release of Merry Christmas is a good idea, I fear another commercial dissapointment. Personally I think it would be a good idea for Mariah to focus on Las Vegas and the Christmas shows for a few years, she needs to make people hear that the voice is still there. I also think, at this point of Mariah's career, it would be a good thing to establish herself as an album artist with a mature sound. Maybe a good thing to stop releasing singles, flopping singles can kill a really good album as we have seen with MIAMTEC. Unfortunately Mariah's name has not much commercial value these days, I think she will have to work very hard to regain some of it. If that is what she wants of course. I wonder if she herself realizes what state her career is in these days. I will always stay on board but I think even many of her fans fans have given up on her. A whole different subject: I wonder what Mariah thinks of her so called friends, LA, JD, Nathan or Damizza who have given their opinions on Mariah out in the open. I know she preferes to keep certain things private so I can imagine she's not that happy with all of this. On the other hand maybe it will give her the wake-up call that she may need professionaly. I'm really curious of what the near future will bring.

#1's top three (53,620) by NHYTG from nyc
#1 My All, the ultimate Mariah Carey ballad, will never ever bore me. That video, those remixes, all perfect.
#2 Honey, at the time I never expected this kind of song from Mariah, I was wowed, made me an even bigger fan. So sexy but so classy. Reminds me how I got the chance to buy Butterfly before its release date, how I fell in love with this album and still am.
#3 Someday, although I already knew Vision Of Love and Love Takes Time this song made me a fan. I remember hearing it on the radio for the first time and how I was completely blown away by it. Too bad it's not on the European version of #1 To Infinity, and one of the reasons I prefer the US edition.
