About Trish from USA: Huge/lifelong MC fan from Seattle, WA. LOVE this site!

Merry Christmas re-release (53,910) by Trish from USA
Sigh. I'm kind of tired of re-releases. How about a third Christmas album? Except this time no filler tracks like a live version of O Holy Night we already have and a needless remake of AIWFCIY. You guys don't like what JD is saying but I agree with him, I don't think Mariah takes it seriously anymore. We all love her voice, right? We all love hearing her sing songs we haven't heard before, right? Every classic song or traditional song she sings gives us goosebumps, right? The originals on the first and second Christmas album are to die for, but we already got them. If she takes her dedication to her fans seriously she would know we don't care about re-releases.

Vegas concert / Thank God I Found You (53,658) by Trish from USA
I got to see the show on Wednesday 5/20, and overall I loved it because I loved hearing some of the older songs live, but I do have a gripe. No, not about her voice which still brings me to tears, but about Thank God I Found You. Mariah stripped it down and sang with just her and the piano (something she doesn't do *nearly* enough anymore) and it was breathtaking. My problem is she basically only sang the chorus and told the audience they were still working it out, but we could download it for free if we sent a text to some #. Huh? I dropped $250 on my ticket, $600 on travel and you haven't worked out how to perform one of the songs in the show? What fan needs a free album version of TGIFY? And how hard would it be to rework it in to a solo for your concert? I felt slighted.

Infinity (52,482) by Trish from USA
My main issue with the song is it doesn't get stuck in my head. I feel like the way she sings infinity at the end of the chorus was an odd choice because it almost makes the song lose momentum. That said I like the beginning and I'm glad she's having some fun with her music. I don't think a video will help this song but what do I know?

Infinity (51,756) by Trish from USA
I agree with other fans who are upset there is only one new track on the album, however, I am still excited for this era. I have tickets to see Mariah in Vegas and cannot wait for the concert. I'm hoping Infinity is a great song. I will buy the album even though I already have every track except the new one, because I collect CD copies of all Mariah releases. Here's hoping some of the "surprises" at her concerts include singing some of her lesser known work. I'd die for There For Me, or Heavenly.

Vegas / duets (49,312) by Trish from USA
I'm so excited to see Mariah in Vegas. This will be my 3rd time seeing her live, and I can't wait. I've never heard some of the earlier #1s live (in person) and I'm looking forward to hearing Love Takes Time and I Don't Want to Cry. I'd also die if Boyz II Men are actually there to sing One Sweet Day with her, I wonder if she'd do the Acapella version. Lol, I'd die twice. I'm not all that hot on a duet album, unless we get new duets, with new vocals. Lots of times I am disappointed by the extra tracks she choses for her albums because I already have them (example: the live version of O Holy Night on MCIIY, I've had it for years). I already have all of her earlier duets, and I don't really want to hear classic Mariah songs sung by anyone else but Mariah. That said there are so many beautiful songs in the world that I'd love to hear Mariah sing. A studio duet of You And I with Stevie Wonder would be perfect.

Always Be My Baby (47,384) by Trish from USA
I don't like how Mariah sings this song live even when her vocals are on point. She's very casual with the song like she's thinking "oh this old song again" and she shortens the phrases with I don't think is very pretty. In the old days she slowed down the ending and I loved the soft high notes she'd use to close the song. If she's tired of singing it, sing something else. All the real fans have heard it a million times and honestly I'd rather hear almost anything else off of Daydream: I Am Free, Melt Away, Open Arms, Forever, Looking In, or When I Saw You. I think I Am Free is an appropriate song for this particular tour and is such a beautiful song.

Mariah in the studio (46,543) by Trish from USA
I also think Mariah is in the studio remastering songs for her tour. I hope she does some shows at Ceasar's Palace. I saw her there from the front row in 2003 and she slayed it. I feel helpless as a fan right now, her music always consoles me when I'm going through hard times yet there's no way to return the favor. I don't hate on Mariah Daily, frankly all the posted web articles about the divorce seem like complete BS, and MD is reporting actual confirmed news. I'm loving Heavenly right now, hoping if there's a tour it makes the set list.

Shelly (45,606) by Trish from USA
I like the things you said about Nick and I agree with you about Mariah wanting to stay home more. The thing is people who think Nick hurts Mariah's career is that it should be the opposite. Mariah being a married, working mom, should bring her back down to earth and make her more relatable, and quite frankly this album has pieces of the more personal/connected Mariah then we've seen in years. I was disappointed in Supernatural because I wanted her to go deeper.

Take time off to come back to earth? (44,750) by Trish from USA
It's not the music, it's the image and work ethic. I love the new album, the lyrics lack for me on the ballads, but other than that there are at least 6 songs that I listen to over and over again, but I can't take the interviews, and the lack of being somewhat down to earth. My advice to Mariah is tone it down, let it be about the music not the cleavage, and let people see how intelligent you are and how amazing you are at singing and song writing. I wish she would challenge herself and work with other songwriters who are really good at what they do too, Smokey, Stevie, Paul, Walter, Elton John, Billy Joel, for the sole purpose of making good music that's on her level. Shoot she's above all the legends I just named.

Question / complete my album (44,539) by Trish from USA
Does anyone know if you completed your album on iTunes (because you already owned TAOLG, Beautiful and YME) if that counts as an album sale? The way iTunes organizes the album on my phone, it still wants me to purchase those tracks making me wonder if my purchase counted towards album sales.

Single (44,002) by Trish from USA
If Mariah releases a single soon it should be YDKWTD hands down. That's her best shot at a #1 for sure. I like the whole album, and I like Thirsty but it isolates her audience where as anyone of any age can enjoy YDKWTD. Plus it's so damn catchy.

Love (43,573) by Trish from USA
Loving Thirsty, love the vocal layers, and the vibe of the song, up tempo but not. The lyrics are fun and is a great idea for promo because you know the media will say it's about Nick. Our girl knows what she's doing. When she starts the choruses singing "you". Chills.

Butterfly comparisons (43,486) by Trish from USA
Comparing new albums to Butterfly is a good way to set yourself up for disappointment. I thought the weakest song on Butterfly was My All and that was a #1 hit, and is a million times better than You're Mine. I think Walter and Mariah were at the top of their game on Butterfly and then it all came crashing down with their fallout. The lyrics on the Butterfly album are crazy, on every single song, but Mariah's ballads and lyrics since that album have been lacking, and the few gems that have come out since were written in the Butterfly era. Although I love One Child, to me that song proves what Mariah is capable of. I also love the very few songs she wrote with David Foster (There For Me is one of my all time favorites).

3 versions, keep the bonus tracks coming (43,423) by Trish from USA
K, so far I have 3 versions of the album to buy, all with different art work and slightly different bonus tracks. As a collector, I'm loving it. After what she said on Letterman about hearing the album as a whole, I'm wondering if she's going to debut any songs on the upcoming morning concert?

Song titles (43,206) by Trish from USA
I know I'm jumping to conclusions but the names of the songs scare me. Other than "One More Try" the names have trendy rings to them instead of classic sounding song names. I was hoping for a return to classic Mariah ballads for a few of the tracks but seeing the song names I think I was wrong. Also beyond disappointed there's no Stevie Wonder duet. Final thought is the deluxe version should have several more tracks on it, I mean 4 years in the making and it only offers songs she recorded for her last album and a track we all heard months ago?

Not buying the album? (42,815) by Trish from USA
I think it's important to remind ourselves that there are real problems in the world and not knowing exactly when the next Mariah Carey album is coming out isn't one of them. Lol, I'm frustrated too but I keep trying to remind myself to keep it in check. Reading on here that someone isn't going to buy an album if it's pushed back again made me laugh. I could never not buy a Mariah album. She makes the best complete albums, always has. I hope we get it soon and I hope the duet with Stevie is classic, with good lyrics. (I've been waiting for a Mariah/Stevie duet *all my life*.)

Push back (42,764) by Trish from USA
The music and her image have become a complete mess. I still think she's too far removed from reality to have a hit song or album without a major ego check. I have said this before but look at Bruno Mars If I Was Your Man, pretty melody, straight forward lyrics that everyone can relate to and major hit. It would take the 90s Mariah a day in the studio to write and sing something similar but better. She just doesn't understand what people want to hear, people are eating up simple, relatable tracks and it's time she hired someone to help her with lyrics and melody again. Mariah thought TAOLG was "relatable" and what her fans were asking for... really? #Beautiful was the best song I've heard from her in many many years but why the hashtag? I think the hashtag took away from the song and made people roll their eyes before even hearing it. Drinking in interviews isn't helping either, as we all have witnessed. I love Mariah but I'm losing interest in the image she's projecting and the subpar lyrics she's been writing since TEOM was such a big hit.

Blah (41,182) by Trish from USA
Mariah has been stuck in a We Belong Together rut ever since it went number one. Same theme, same build, same disconnect. Her music is so molded these days, it doesn't carry any emotion. She needs to stop comparing herself to herself, We Belong Together was a special moment but it was 10 years ago, could we move on please? I hope it does well, I'm just bored of the whole concept.

Whitney cover (40,708) by Trish from USA
I really hope there's no Whitney cover. Their tones are too similar for Mariah to really do anything different with a Whitney song. It might sound harsh but I hate it when people try to cover Mariah (because they just don't compare!) so I imagine a Whitney fan would feel the same. I would rather hear a remake of an old Motown hit (Smokey Robinson song maybe?). I think that would fit nicely with the old school sound of Beautiful and The Art Of Letting Go that I hope is constant throughout the album.

Charmbracelet (40,520) by Trish from USA
I'm surprised so many people like this album! The lack of production was a first for me as a Mariah fan, there's even an out of tune note at the end of I Only Wanted. Though I liked the concept of My Saving Grace the song just isn't very pretty which at that point I had come to expect of a Mariah ballad. I hated the use of computerized words (like boy) on the album. I thought they were distracting and juvenile. I did like Through The Rain and Bringing On The Heartbreak, and I loved the Charmbracelet tour, but the album is not my favorite. On the other hand I loved Memiors, I just thought it lacked some true ballads. For letting ago it seemed MC was really focused on instrumentation and vocal arrangements, but I'd love to see really stunning lyrics and a simple arrangement (mainly piano). I love Beautiful.

Best song on each album (40,466) by Trish from USA
I couldn't pick just one song from Daydream and Butterfly, but had a hard time picking a song on Rainbow that I still listen to.
Mariah Carey: All in your Mind
Emotions: Can't Let Go
Unplugged: I'll Be There
Music Box: Dreamlover
Merry Christmas: All I Want For Christmas is You
Daydream: Forever and Melt Away
Butterfly: Breakdown and Close My Eyes
Rainbow: Petals

What's up? (39,995) by Trish from USA
I'm worried something is up with Mariah. The lack of promotion for TAOLG is not like her, the lack of a video makes no sense. The interviews she did were rambling, sloppy and negative and it did not seem like Mariah was happy. Now she's disappeared from instagram, and Facebook since the 3am letter. I'm a huge fan, and I hope everything is okay, but I'm worried.

This American fan needs lyrics (39,814) by Trish from USA
Mariah has a distinct style throughout her career of writing beautiful, thoughtful lyrics, however lately the use of modern technology terms, slang, improper English, inside jokes, and using her own name in songs really just distracts from what could be a beautiful song. The first time I heard Where Are You Christmas, performed by Faith Hill, I knew Mariah wrote it because I was so familiar with her phrase and lyric writing style. I bought TAOLG on iTunes and I love the vocals, I support Mariah as I have my whole life, but I would expect someone so good at writing to get better with lyrics as they go through more life experiences good and bad. These lyrics feel rushed sloppy and silly. The lyrics have always been what separates M from other vocalists who sing songs other people wrote, which is why a return to form has to include a return to timeless lyrics. Maybe lyrics aren't that big of a deal to a lot of people, but I look for a deeper connection to lyrics, particularly Mariah's lyrics, and I have a feeling a lot of fans feel the same.
