About Elena from The Netherlands:

Chick - Someone's Ugly Daughter (95,813) by Elena from The Netherlands
I did not see that one coming. Besides producing, writing and doing background vocals on that album she directed one of the video's, two of Chicks video's are on YouTube and YouTube. Notice the butterflies? 2020 could not be more surprising.

Congratulations to MC and to all the USA lambs for making it happen. Well deserved victory. 19th in 2019, 25th anniversary and MC is doing well. Couldn’t be a better moment. Merry Christmas everyone.

Re: A No No (88,611) (88,619) by Elena from The Netherlands
This could be the issue, but the only reason I can think of to not pay Kim what she wants is that they only want her if Cardi is on it too (and Cardi has not come through yet) because they don't think Kim is able to chart or that some industry people are blocking her to go nr 1 by not giving the fans what they want and not promoting the song. I mean if as a label you clearly know what the fans want, see the potential with an epic collaboration with a super catchy song, why wouldn't you pay the featured artists what they ask for?

Re: Stefflon Don (88,598) (88,614) by Elena from The Netherlands
Exactly my thoughts. Something's up. My only guess is that they are waiting for Cardi to come through. But then there is not a video in place, so they'd have to put that together somehow to get full attention.

Re: The Roof, Lullaby, For The Record, and Giving Me Life (86,778) (86,786) by Elena from The Netherlands
They are all about Derek Jeter. Add Don’t Forget About Us to that list. That video was such an obvious reference to Derek.

Re: A No No feat. Cardi B and Li'l Kim (86,286) (86,298) by Elena from The Netherlands
Since both Cardi and Kim fans want both of them to jump on a track since forever and A No No is a golden opportunity and an open invitation by MC herself, I believe if Mariah pushes this through we will have her 19th number 1 due to Cardi's chart domination and dream collaboration for fans. This is an ultimate slaying combo. Being a huge fan of all 3, I'd die in peace. Make it happen.

Caution (86,007) by Elena from The Netherlands
Very interesting project. Giving me Life is very beautiful and gave me instant The Roof vibes, but without the brilliant poetry. Caution is very beautiful. Both songs are so well produced and my instant favorites to be played on repeat numerous times. The whole album has such a fresh new sound to it, it's amazing. Still, I feel that with these producers and sound she could've gotten more out of most songs. She tends to repeat sentences in the choruses a lot which is a trend in music I'm not so fond of. This only works for a few songs in music in general. It definitely gets you because repeating the same makes it inevitable to make it catchy, so with A No No, With You, GTFO and One Mo Gen I feel the intention to be great is there but she could do better. The melodies are on point, With You seems overproduced and A No No a bit childish in lyrics. The Distance is ok and 8th Grade is so well produced by the genius that is Timbaland, yet I feel MC could've gotten more out of that song. Portraits, a traditional album closer, is fine. I love that MC took a different direction in sound with this project, she just made what she likes regardles of what everyone's expectations are. She's best at playfully creating verses and her signature ad libs and she shows that she still can be unmatched in her own style always challenging herself. The album is an odd move in terms of production, lack of traditional ballads and club bangers and amount of tracks. To come to conclusion; it's a good promising album but with only 10 songs I can't help but feeling left wanting more from where those came from.

Unforgetable remix (78,092) by Elena from The Netherlands
Absolutely loving it from the snippet alone. This is so fresh and just what she needs right now. I hope she will use a similar fresh sound on her new album.

James Packer (54,747) by Elena from The Netherlands
Remember when Nick said it The Breakfast Club interview that MC said that if he would ever cheat she would find a billionaire like this (finger snap). Well played Mariah, well played.

Marcus (54,664) by Elena from The Netherlands
I agree with you. This time she's got a hell of a stage and all the ingredients to make it a spectacle en more entertaining beyond the voice. What's missing is a few dance moves here and there and the energy. Mariah used to run and walk around the stage whilst singing effortlessly (!) For her switching from grand spectacle in uptempo's to more intimate setting with ballads would work best. More new video material especially made for the concert series could give the old classics more life. I love what she does with TGIFY because here she can sing freely and play around with the song, which she is a master at, just look at her remixes. The show is almost perfect. They only had a few months to put it together and done great, but what could be done better is Mariah herself. Her outfits, her vocal resting and her moving around on stage.

You really took the words out of my mouth. There is something really wrong with the attitude of the youth from this generation.

Infinity sneak peek on Ellen (53,486) by Elena from The Netherlands
I really burst out into laugh. I mean I saw the first sneak peek (getting ready for show) and it was alright, but when I saw this it really made me look forward to the video.

BBMA performance (53,447) by Elena from The Netherlands
She did well, considering she suffers from bronchitis. Yet still, I don't think that she would've done more without it. I hoped she then would belt the "and it was all" part to really kick some butt there. My other criticism is that the performance is less energetic when she just stands there. She should hold the mic in her hand. At least with Infinity since that's more up-tempo. Overall, she's doing well and I'm glad that the world gets to see it and getting better reviews this time.

Emmanuel (53,218) by Elena from The Netherlands
I was wondering the same thing. I don't know why, but I was always annoyed seeing her around MC. It seemed like she was around her 24/7 and that didn't seem healthy. There was always something "leechy" about her, but that is just my core feeling. Since she (and some other people of her former team) is not around MC anymore it seems Mariah is more down to earth and at ease. Of course, she might still be her friend, but not 24/7 living with Mariah.

The wig and the pink dress (53,102) by Elena from The Netherlands
The wig didn't really bother me, but it does make her look huge. I like that she started with curls to accompany her songs from the early 90's, I think that was the idea and I like it. That dress does indeed look like a giant fish ate her. I also can't imagine it being comfortable for her and too hot. On the other hand, with 50 shows she's going to wear tons of different dresses I believe, so a few flaws here and there is alright.

Thank you Adena, for the recording. I put it on loud whilst cleaning the house and I enjoyed it so much. I can't wait to see the full show on DVD.

Vegas (53,087) by Elena from The Netherlands
I am very proud of Mariah. She finally got a stage with the right props and decor that she deserves and gets to celebrate her 18 #1's properly. It's an emotional ride for her. This is 25 years of hard work and dedication. In every song there are memories for her how she created them and where she was in that time of her life. There must be a lot of that coming back, the good and the bad, then starting with a clean slate. I love how after the Daydream songs they did an interlude of Butterfly. It's clear why she wanted that in the show, because that album was a major turning point for her and I love how this was used before she started Honey. I love the set up of the show and I was really looking forward to my favorite MC song, IDWC. I accept her current state of her voice, and I think she slayed that song. It was a real treat. I loved her little acapella of TGIFY, wonderful. The screen behind her with Fantasy, superb, that's how it's supposed to be done. The guitar intro of My All, Dreamlover remix, all good stuff. The end high note on Infinity, where the violin run kicks in, chills and tears it gave me. So proud. The one critical point I have is her not moving around that much. When she does, it gives so much energy. She used to do that and it's important to own that stage to the maximum. It's really a simple thing that she can do something about and nobody will bother about her raspy vocals. Don't be harsh on her. She deserves this.

Infinity (52,312) by Elena from The Netherlands
First listen sounded a bit messy, love the lyrics, but I can't imagine it being a hit. Even if it will be it's only going to be if there's heavy promo. I love the use of the violin, it would be a good album cut but there is nothing celebratory about it which would be fitting for the new nr 1's album. If #Beautiful came out now with heavy Sony promo, that would've been the one that would be her 19th, no doubt. Such a loss. Wishing her all the best in her new era she seems to be doing well and I'm proud that she's making some real changes, but this song to me is a dissapointing step in her good flow.

Documentary (49,615) by Elena from The Netherlands
What is missing in MC's career right now is a real connection with her fans. Something like a documentary is crucial to communicate with us indirectly. This could be a making of her album or a behind the scenes from the tour. She used to do this in her Sony days and it does her image well. It makes her more human rather than the untouchable diva. She doesn't necessarily need to adress personal issues, but like technical difficulties; they happen all the time. We get the amateur videos and have our judgements ready. If only she would talk about them more openly there wouldn't be such a problem. I'm not so fond of the idea that she'll do so many dates in Vegas right now. Her voice needs rest. She needs to have her passion back instead of to just be in it for the money or to stay relevant. A long break (which is un-Mariah like) would do her good and she can focus on writing and experiment with producers. That's where she feels at home. But overusing your already fragile voice in a concert series? No.

Anthony Basco, Vision Of Love GMA (47,522) by Elena from The Netherlands
It's on YouTube, so you can get your copy there. I watched that performance right after I read so many negative things about MC's voice. I shed a tear, because what did she know back then? She gave everything. She doen't have to be exactly that now, but if only the focus en the caretaking of her voice returns, I'll be happy.

Vision Of Love (47,463) by Elena from The Netherlands

Can everyone just be quiet for a moment, put all judgements aside and listen to this girl who had her whole life before her, was hungry, pure, focused, gifted and did not want anything than make and share music. I somehow believe that this must be very close to the demo version she initially made of this brilliant song.

A break / songs left out of the list (47,272) by Elena from The Netherlands
In the midst of the lamb-wars here, I just want to say I hope that no matter how you feel about MC right now you still want her to get better en definitely not retire. She is brilliant and her creativity is endless in her music. She probably has a million ideas and only 15 of them goes on a record at a time. I know I will want to hear all her studio albums as long as she'll be around to entertain us and touch our souls with her gift. That's not just her voice, but her whole artistry. The voice needs a big break with caretaking, that's all. On another note, it's very unusual for MC not to include her gospel tracks like Make it Happen or Fly Like A Bird, other than her not being able to sing them as she wants at this point, I can't find any other reason for her not to include them. They are so dear to her. Also YDKWTD is left out of the setlist, an absolute fan favorite. I really wonder how she puts the setlist together and her reasons for picking particularly these songs. I really thought Crybaby would win over Babydoll. Crybaby has brilliant lyrics.

First show (47,125) by Elena from The Netherlands
Absolutely thrilled with the Billie Holiday cover. I hope this is her way to see the public's response to her singing jazz to hopefully record one meanwhile. I wonder if she will sing different jazz songs each concert. Having said that, it's the only positive thing I can say about the performance. I'm done with the fakery. She lipped entire songs instead of just bits. Not even changed them up. Just the regular records playing in the back. And when she did not lip, it sounded horrible. MC is going through a lot and I believe it would've been better if she took a break and let her voice rest. If not that, then maybe just write a record in the studio and spend time with her kids. You can't let your dear fans pay for this. There isn't anything other going on to entertain them on that stage. I wish she experimented more on stage like she does with her records.

Promo frustration (45,314) by Elena from The Netherlands
I agree with both people who say "Who cares? Just listen to the album and stop thinking about promo" and people who say, "I want promo because then we will get more Mariah." I'll accept if she will just let it be, yet it still frustrates me a little bit. She's just avoiding the whole project it seems, just threw it out there to see where it strands. I am aware that this has (for the most part) to do with the issues with Def Jam as JD said before, "What's going on is bigger than me." But not to talk about it at all is so wrong. This project is very dear to her and it's a gem to us fans. The only way to connect to us is through her music, her album, and yet she's only posting pics of her beverage for promotion. Does anybody know if there's more content available on her social network of the Butterfly drink anyway? Is it updated at all? I enjoy her album each time I listen to it. It doesn't affect my love for it if it doesn't get promoted. But connecting to us about what's going on or just take us inside the core of her 4 year long journey to make this album is very important. Now more than ever because the industry is at a low point. You need and want your fans to stick with you. So promo or not, more communication between MC and us makes a huge deal.
