Re: The Butterfly Lounge (101,197) (101,201) by CMC from NY,NY
I started to feel like the Butterfly Lounge was not getting backing from a record label or streaming service. Mariah was so excited and giddy, the most she's been about a project in years. In several of those Twitter Lives she stated something like, what I'm working on is unlike anything anyone's ever done and she didn't want to give anything away in case someone stole her ideas. Now there's not a peep about it. It feels like ageism from the corporate morgue that in their minds Mariah won't have new studio album success again. In the Megan Markle podcast Mariah used 3 words to describe how she was feeling and one word was "angry". Felt like that's stemming from the project maybe being squashed. Feels like any new non Christmas music she wants to put out might not be backed by the label. Everything is legacy. I'm also confused and thought months ago if the Butterfly Lounge was just the tracks she's been reworking for Butterfly 25 and there aren't even two separate projects? That would be a total bummer. It's all been so jumbled and vague. I'm happy about the bonus tracks we're getting for Butterfly 25, but I can't help think if the label ageism is all true it's so upsetting and depressing for Mariah. It's sexist too.

Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, or Bruce Springsteen don't have pushback about their age. They see her as a cash cow at Christmas and that's it. It's stifling the massive creativity that she still has to offer and wants to put out. Mariah needs to flip the script and work a contract where she agrees to annual (but minimal ) Christmas appearances , a special here and there and live concerts in NYC. Use the annual gift of her Christmas legacy to her benefit that she will make the money during Christmas but give them an ultimatum she needs to have full support/label backing and promo when she wants to do non Christmas music projects through the other 11 months of the year. The Queen of Christmas is so much more and there's no one that knows that more than Mariah. They're making her into a caricature surround Christmas and it's trapping and pigeon holing one of the most diverse artist/singer/songwriter in history. There's been a shift since she's stopped talking about "The Butterfly Lounge". Maybe 2023 for a proper full new studio album.

Glitter week (95,541) by CMC from NY,NY
We kind of got nothing this week in regards to EP's being released on Fridays for the era's. We got Save The Day video on a Saturday - don't really think that counts though. Does anyone remember back early summer Kristofer her makeup artist posted to his story, "working on something special" and it was Glitter related, a new current pitot of 80's makeup he did on Mariah? That was the week of Glitter announced to streaming services. Then we got everything related to the anniversary and any more Glitter promo postponed because of the many events of the early summer. Being that she seems to have recorded so much for Glitter that's unreleased I wonder if we are getting a special Glitter EP, with more unreleased tracks, remixes. Maybe she's dropping it as more of a surprise. One can dream.

Migrate (93,837) by CMC from NY,NY
Justice for Migrate. Now is the time. It's such a bizarre crazy time in the world right now, Mariah going number 1 with a (non Christmas) 12 year old song could totally happen. With no new music happening and E=MC2 already at #1 for over 48 hours now, she should do an official Migrate release. I'm sure there's conflicting record label issues but one can fantasize.

Elevator moment (86,447) by CMC from NY,NY
Yes I was in the elevator with MC as I told you guys the day after it happened. I'm the one that air kisses Mariah when we walked in and then she grabs my arm to give the camera a moment to catch my Vision of Love tattoo, which is in the font of her first single. Mariah loved it obviously. I was happy the footage was released as we weren't sure what was going to happen with it if anything. The moment was surreal and Mariah is magnetic to be next to, especially in a confined space like an elevator. It was me and my friend Taylor, then two other guys in the fur vests that went in but didn't have much interaction with Mariah. Then after a couple trips riding up and down that dude with the moustache jumped in. I immediately recognized him from a video posted here and he was trash talking Mariah, about her clothes and literally her being trashy. I was thinking what is he doing in here, it felt weird knowing he recently made those statements in a video, apparently he portrays himself as a comedian or whatever. I was immediately cock blocking him from having moments with Mariah, haha. Anyway I did try to find the video where he is saying that and like Andrew said it's no where to be found now.

It was very similar to a scene in the Adventures of Mimi dvd extra's when the girls are talking trash about Mariah then their up in her face and they fangirl out. Very true to life. Anyway, the elevator experience was legendary, then we saw Mariah at album signing the next day. I'm obsessed with Cautian and honestly did not even expect it to be this fresh, current, yet in a lane all her own that people I'm convinced are going to try and emulate this sound. Mariah is making true music. The album is a full blow mood, and gives all types of feels. I haven't instantly loved Mariah songs on first listen like I did when I first hear Caution, Giving me Life, A No No, 8th Grade. The album sounds like a mature sexy Mariah who's unapologetic. Her interviews are 360 degrees from where she was a year and a half ago. She's in a really great place. Caution solidified a new sound for her in this decade which she didn't have. It set a template and blueprint for her next album or two. The Power Ballads of the 90's are over, Mariah would sound so tired and outdated trying to recreate anything like that. She set a tone for where her voice is right now at this stage in her life. She was was able to create an entire album unlike any Mariah Carey album yet still sound like Mariah. Truely masterful.

Mariah meeting (85,944) by CMC from NY,NY
Today I met Mariah and hung out with her for 29 minutes in an elevator before the taping of her TRL segment. It was a surprise for VIP fans. We were promised front row at the taping. My friend and I got tickets to attend the show and prior to taping MTV filmed us recording questions to present to Mariah. I turned to my friend and I said I feel like something else is about to happen. Soon after the elevator next to us we were waiting to go in opened and Mariah was in there, waiting and waving for us to come in with a huge smile. Obviously it was like a dream. She looked stunning, I was standing right next to her in the elevator the entire time. It was surreal. We talked about justice for Glitter and she said it was amazing what's happening and she was also so confused. She said it was a traumatic time for her. She was so adorable. She gave me a couple hugs and we blew air kisses. We chatted about the new album, my career as a hairstylist (I played with her hair). There were 3 songs that played so we were in there about 10 minutes. It's all for segments that may be in the upcoming MTV special or a digital ssequence. It was all a dream like fantasy. We had no phones during the entire day so caught some videos on Instagram when the elevator doors would open. There are some I posted in my story on Instagram @bunnzino. So excited for Caution. This era is beyond memorable for me. Oh and I can't even know what to say about Glitter being #1 on iTunes

Limited edition / ticket purchase (85,263) by CMC from NY,NY
Where is anyone getting this idea of cd's gifted with purchase of concert ticket? Or the idea that the limited edition album cover with "M" on it is a Deluxe Version with bonus tracks. None of that info is found anywhere. There's no mention of it on Mariah's social media or her official website. I also purchased 4 tickets for Radio City this morning and I can confirm, along with my friend who also purchased, there is no CD gifted with purchase of tickets.

Listening party (84,043) by CMC from NY,NY
So I have a friend that is good friends with B. Scott, Mariah's close friend. He went to the listening party and my friend is not really a fan of Mariah's music. He said that the songs he heard he loved and was actually really surprised how much he enjoyed them. One of the songs is called Portrait, or Portraits and may even be an album title name. If so I kind of love that for a new album title. Feeling so good about this new music. Can't wait for With You.

GTFO genious promo (83,814) by CMC from NY,NY
At first I was so confused and disappointed to immediately hear "buzz single". I went right to thinking after first listen, why are you releasing a mediocre unfitting song as your lead single, just come with the banger as the lead if you have it. This was all too familiar but at second glance this was different than the past whereas Triumphant was released and not successful then deemed a buzz single. I'm not a fan of full on whisper Mariah either, especially for an entire song with no hard beat dropping or the feeling of it being unfinished. It felt cut short coming in at 3:27 and fading out suddenly. The strong vulgarity seemed intense and too aggressive. Then I started to realize this was all absolutely necessary to get people talking and get in their ears. After a day settling in and the shock factor of the attention GTFO was getting from non hardcore fans streaming getting it #1 worldwide I was beginning to see the genius of it all. GTFO and it's in your face yet subtle whisper vulgarity is a Mariah Carey song with [censored] in the chorus, attention grabbing in itself. That alone is buzz worthy. If radio is hesitant to play a 48 year old Pop star who hasn't had a radio hit in almost a decade, Mariah is making a subtle whisper statement of [censored] them, you won't play me anyway, the uncensored version will not make it to radio either. People will hear the buzz about the song (as I hesitate to call song as it's more of a melody of what's to come) and be forced to head over and stream/hopefully download on other platforms. She's not relying on radio and therefore taking them by the balls. Snatching the attention, using the internet as her b*tch for the memes and shock factor of the lyrics to spread the word. I'm coming for you with this music in October. I really do think she doesn't consider this a full song and more of a hypnotic, enchanted mood setting for what is to come and this was all done knowingly and something yet to be done before. This has now set the stage and grabbed radio attention, mainstream, younger even older fans good or bad, and for people to actually pay attention when a hot single drops in a couple weeks and album soon to follow. A proper roll out has been strategically set up for people to listen the [censored] up, you're going to here me. "It's something she had to do at this stage to get people listening if she really does have that banging album. We shall see. I honestly don't think they expected it to have chart success more of a viral internet effect to set up the next single and album Well after all, the gay bars here in NYC are bumping GTFO and that's a good sign, we know what's hot.

The Butterfly Returns / Vegas (82,260) by CMC from NY,NY
I'm excited for the return to Vegas and back at Ceasers Palace instead of a smaller venue. I hope it is new material and not just mostly number ones, mixed with a few other past singles. She needs to do more album cuts and songs like, The Roof, Close My Eyes, Faded, it's usually 90% fans attending the Vegas shows so why not please them. Mostly looking forward to the new music though, a fresh sound, with some party anthems, if she goes dark, do it in the way she did Side Effects, with a hard beat, and she tells a her story and paints the whole picture. Honestly I'm not feeling The Butterfly Returns as an album title at all, it's way too redundant and not in any way fresh or new. She's done the whole butterfly image for years now. It's time for something new, she can still blossom and emerge from her cocoon without referencing a Butterfly again or trying to relive the past for her new project. I'm feeling a one word title. Something totally fresh.

Mental health (81,746) by CMC from NY,NY
I'm beyond proud of Mariah. I thought I could not love her more but I do. The courage it takes to share something like that is astounding and she is only going to flourish and blossom more. I've alwsys had the speculation there, her brother in recent years has said she has been taking bipolar meds since 2001. Having experience with the disorder in my family, seeing Mariah through the years, it explains so much of her behavior. I'm still a little shocked that she's chosen to share it, this is a whole new Mariah and I would hope the public would have nothing but acceptance and suppport for her sharing such a deep part of her self that has such a stigma around it. I love you Mariah.

Anything but Hero (80,123) by CMC from NY,NY
Mariah needs to bring it not only with the energy level and looks but with the setlist. Now they're saying Hero? Come on now. Cheeses schmaltz and she even says that herself. Why on earth would her team not encourage a more up beat energetic medley of party songs to blast onto 2018 and forget last years mess. I'm hoping this isn't a missed opportunity, but this Hero news is crazy disappointing.

Creative process (79,216) by CMC from NY,NY
I just had a thought. Mariah is all the sudden super human and back to Mimi to the second power status. This whirlwind of a romance with Stella and her fam was so crazy post Nick (husband) and the birth of their then toddlers. I had a thought that maybe Mariah had fun getting involved with crazy people like Stella and she might even need that as an outlet of experiencing life outside her bubble. Almost like an experiment for her to see what happens so she can have some life experience to write about. Think about it, without Stella and the fam what moments would Mimi have with anyone, let alone ideas from her life experience at this current moment in time to write about. We will see. Let’s face it, her life for the past, basically years is a bubble and hopefully just now she’s realizing it. How else can she begin to make new music that actually means something and not just fantasy experiences. (Not at all saying Stella and her fam are st all that interesting.) Ok, whatever it’s a long stretch but can we find some meaning in this cray cray Stella drunken slurry moment of a mess? It’s so sad that this is possibly what our Mariah needs to do for entertainment but that might be the reality of today’s music industry. Insane to think one day you are releasing an album like Butterfly and 20 years later we are still discussing and loving you even more MC, but discussing your downfalls and uneventful moments of the past ten years.

Guy says I wanna share with you me and my Mimi moments. I live in NYC, I saw her in Vegas second row a couple weeks ago. My friend called my from a restaurant in midtown and told me she heard Mariah was coming. I got there and we had moments. I showed her my Vision Of Love tattoo and she was feeling it. Special moments I will never forget. Not sure how to post the photo.

Non movie cameo (76,507) by CMC from NY,NY
Ever since that shoulder injury Mariah has derailed and never really picked herself back up. Why on earth would she go on a movie set doing the things they're saying, holding up people for hours, making demands especially when it's actually an honor they even ask or think of her to be in a movie at this point. Let's be honest, after the disastrous New Years Eve performance earlier this year is a shock to me she's still getting considered for these things. This could have helped her, instead after her behavior it's the opposite and you can bet she won't be the first "diva" in line should these opportunities come up again. Maybe I'm wrong, and a cameo in a blockbuster movie isn't as important for her career as a crappy cosmetic line. Oh and the photos for this cosmetic campaign, she's at her heaviest weight, what is going on? I'm truly worried for her and it saddens me so much this is where she is at in her career. I feel like she's crying out for help from whatever she is going through, that's really the only explanation for all this bizarre behavior. Stella is pure greed and a bottom feeder. She's hungry for fame and a horrible person. She knows what she's doing and the truth hurts. When I commmented on one of her photos of her and Mariah dressed like twins she blocked me when I commented "uh you're thirsty, uh you're thirsty #singlewhitefemalestatus". She knows people see through her empowering women antics and it's all gonna crash down around her. I hope Mariah is well when I see her in Vegas next month.

Mimi Pride (76,340) by CMC from NY,NY
This feels like such a cheap last minute, poorly orchestrated scheme from Stella to profit off of gay pride month. With the obvious problem being clothing ships out July 3rd. Are you kidding? I almost ordered a tank until I saw shipping date, which I'm sure 80% of consumers will do the same. Can totally hear Stella mid June, "Mariah let's use your 18 year old photos from Rainbow for gay pride merchandise, who cares if it's 2017 and anyone can take those old images and put on a tshirt themselves." I mean really? It's like zero thought is put into these things so lazy. How silly to think it was possibly new music or actual new photos. Lol.

I Don't no-mix (73,900) by CMC from NY,NY
I'm aware of the new rules regarding Billboard and remixes being changed too much and not charting as same song. Which is all very weird because they're no longer remixes and should just be promoted more as a new "feature" on the track. Mariah being the musical genius that she is I would think that this bothers her, considering her past masterful remixes. That being said, "I don't" was far from a Billboard hit, believe it didn't even break through to 80? A remix with Remy tacked on won't do anything. Therefore it seems bizarre she wouldn't do a proper actually remixed song because she's so concerned about the month old non charting original version to chart higher. She could have taken this as a creative opportunity at this stage in her career to go back to the true remix and forget the new "charting rules". Get attention for turning tables on the rules and create a great women power anthem remix. The theme of "I don't" had obvious potential for that. Remy Ma is hot right now and perfect for that type of anthem, a la Hearthbreaker Remix (ft. Missy plus Da Brat). Mariah, Remy, and Niki fans would all tune in to hear if there is that shade towards Niki. It could have been its own hit. Separate from the original, most likely more successful. It seems like an obvious win win idea. Yet what what we got, and they're calling a "remix" seems completely uninspired, lazy, thoughtless, and like Mariah doesnt even have that creative drive at all left. Very disappointing as a day one fan who's lived through the excitement of those true remixes. Unfortunately I'm really starting to not care, probably similar to Mariah.

Re: After the Kimmel greatness, back to bashing (72,846) (72,852) by CMC from NY,NY
Obviously something is wrong here. No one is bullying Mariah, we're all adults with opinions and the right to them. She should know better after 27 years in the business to not diss a show like the Grammys, especially after just bad mouthing Dick Clark Productions. She's now alienating herself from major musical corporations, not to mention her peers or friends that were there and performing at the Grammys. Beyonce brings her daughter to Mariah's Christmas show, yet Mariah cuts of the interviewer and goes on a rant from something 2 decades ago not even giving props to Bey, or Adel. She almost seems medicated to me. It's so sad but I can see her going deeper and deeper into a hole and it breaks my heart. Stella and her entire family is the company she chooses to surround herself with and they're rubbing off. There's something deeper though going on and it's troubling. I'm trying to figure it out because I care deeply about Mariah.

Current Mariah (57,999) by CMC from NY,NY
Watched both terviews Kelly and Michael and Steve Harvey. Watched back to back and felt uncomfortable for Mariah and sad. I get that she's tired, you could see it, but it makes me said that she seems to be hardened and shut down from the way the media has been to her or possibly everything with her personal life, fall outs with family etc. IDK. To me, the problem is all the interviews are 90% based on and talking about how extravagant her lifestyle and her legendary status is. It's hard to carry on interviews without stating how different her life is from the average person, even so different from other celebrities. It makes her extremely unrelatable to. It's unfortunate that she's becoming kind of a characature of herself. If she's at least going to do the same Schtick why doesn't she at least sing. Why wouldn't she sing a Christmas song on a hour long Mariah Carey Christmas episode of Steve Harvey. Curtain should of opened and she was singing. The beauty school drop out thing is litterally the only thing she gives them on Kelly and Michael. I'm pretty sure she's discussed that on on Kelly and Michael/Regis and Kelly alone at least 5 times. I'll always support and follow her but I'm sad that she seems robotic and so untrusting. Side note- my prediction of "Can't say no" being "Can't let go" remake was correct.

Can't Say No (57,896) by CMC from NY,NY

Music (56,331) by CMC from NY,NY
Making a statement of my own opinion is just that, as is anyone else's. Mariah is more than free to do any business venture outside of music she wants to and I support freedom of anyone to do that. However that's obviously not helping her music career in the slightest. Is it? Most of these ventures have been post E=MC2. I'm not interested in it honestly and if a grown adult can honestly be excited about a children's book over Mariah providing us with new music, lol, than more power to you. I'm happy for you. But for me I would rather have creative, inventive new music. You know what she is known for. Those 18 #1's, not her 18 nail polish colors.

Re: The new Mariah Carey: the standard (56,307) (56,320) by CMC from NY,NY
I get your angle of Mariah being the standard of artists being compared to and she doesn't need a comeback, she's always been here. Yes she's never totally disappeared for years at a time from the public is true. However, with the exception of MIAM we have not had new "quality" music, and the focus has not been on music for a good 5-6 years. It's is however on all this other filler cr*p (in my opinion). That being nail polish, perfume, sugar water, video game commercials, Home Shopping Network, Jenny Craig spokes person, schmaltzy queen of Christmas, now children's book philanthropist. The list goes on. As a fan since the early ninties, now 30, I find it somewhat insulting being dished out these business ventures and teased with the excitement of "new things coming". I'm wondering who the target audience is? A children's book to gain young children as fans for her music? I think not. That's just about the money. I have been supporting her career for years, recently going to Vegas this past July, 4th row and can attest to her still amazing vocals. However I want the music. Good quality music. It concerns me as a fan of 21+ years she is uninspired and focusing more on money making ventures and no longer music. The core audience fan base, at least those of us 30+, are not interested in children's books. Then again I can only speak for myself.
