About Jay from USA: lamb since 1992. It all started with Mtv Unplugged. It was the first cassette I bought. I already liked the songs I heard on the radio but wanted to make sure I liked them all before I bought the other albums. Then I bought Mariah Carey and Emotions. I wore out those tapes. Then came Dreamlover. To this day its my favorite video. Then came the Dreamlover remixes by David Morales. I was in awe. I've tried to buy all the singles I could get my hands on. What I love about her, other than her voice, is how creative she is; how she'll resing/rewrite a song when making a remix and the writing abilities. I don't always agree with all she does and I may be a bit critical but I love that this site will let you express that. There are other sites that won't post your opinions unless they are "pro everything she does".

I don't get why some want her to be something she's not. Or at least that's how interpret it. We ask that she sounds like she did in the 90's. That may never happen again. Some of us want her to go back and did pop songs she did in the 90's and criticize her r&b /hip-pop songs. Why don't we just take her as she is? Move on if it's not your bag anymore. And pop in the Music Box/Daydream/Emotions cd and relive the splendor, if that is what you want. I don't understand the feeling that she'll be different at Sony. It's not like Tommy and Walter are still there. She's there because of the guy from Island. I totally forgot his name.

Amber C / Mimi L. (50,068) by Jay from USA
Mariah's mom was married when Mariah first came out. Her stepfather was the one that sued early in her career because he claimed he wanted to make a doll based on Mariah and she agreed to it at first because she thought he was joking. But when he was seriosuly wanting to do it, she declined. I believe also, he claimed to have paid dental bills that Mariah never paid back before she was famous. I don't know if he had connections with anyone in the industry. I think her brother's connection was who hooked Mariah up with Ben Margulies. I think the reason why Mariah had a hard time to get a deal at first was because no one wanted another Whitney, except Tommy had thought Mariah would be perfect for Columbia to have someone to rival Whitney. Which makes me wonder what plans Warner Brothers had for Mariah before she signed with Columbia.

Negativity? (49,733) by Jay from USA
I've been thinking about all this going on with Mariah. It doesn't make sense that she is acting aloof with this nonsense. Some people are claiming we are watching her start to have a new breakdown. But even that doesn't make sense. Last time, and I'm old enough to remember as it happened, she left the messages, Louise would rip the microphone from her hands as she gave an interview. However now it's like everything she does is normal to her. "Let me stand here and not love my lips", "let me walk off the stage as I'm singing", "let me not comment on any of this and sign a contract to do Vegas". I wonder if all this just a ploy for her to come out with her first album with Sony and bam, second comeback. Maybe I'm being naive. But it just doesn't make sense that no one in her family has done anything to snap her out of her funk. Her mom, Shawn, or even her brother. All this negative media might be intentional so when the "comeback" starts, it'll be "look, she's been down in the dumps and came back". In all seriousness, I hope she's okay. I'm not here to impose a retirement on her it whatever. She has enough negative people, fans, non fans, media. If I'm reading too much into this (I have no PR experience, so idk) but I hope she's good.

MC on Ellen (49,215) by Jay from USA
I was only able to catch the first half on the interview (I had to sneak into the break room at work hehe). I wonder if Mariah has a new person on PR because they were playing clips from the Christmas concert and the clip she posted on instagram hitting the high notes. Kinda like, "let us remind the general public who Mariah is". I hope if she does have a new PR person, that they start counter attacking the negative press being put out there.

Songs ownership (49,212) by Jay from USA
I do believe Mariah said she was able to buy the songs from Sony during her interview on Oprah during the Charmbracelet era. I would love to hear all those songs again.

Vegas (49,052) by Jay from USA
If this is true, then I hope she doesn't hire Debbie Allen again. I hope she goes in a different direction. Of course we know that Mariah isn't a performer, but the people that went to see her at the Christmas concerts seemed to enjoy the show. I assume the Vegas shows would be similar in that she will be in the same place for a few days. Whatever the decision is, I'll be saving up my pennies just in case.

I've had a few splashes (48,418) by Jay from USA
But I had to post something. I just asked my brother if I'm a little obsessed with Mariah. He thinks I am. The thing is he is not a lamb. Funny thing is he does know every lyric to the songs on Mariah Carey, Emotions, Music Box, and some on Rainbow and TEOM. He can't help it since he's inadvertently learned them as I listen to them. I can't help but be infatuated with this woman. She was written the soundtrack to my life. I love her music and her lyrics. I feel so bad that she is being torn to shreds in the media and everyone prefers to believe the negativity. No matter what she goes through, no matter what she achieves, no matter how many times she fails, she has provided timeless music with encouraging lyrics. We must not forget that. She has been a part of our lives through music. Lets "[...]" Let's remember why we fell in love with her voice, her music, her personality. Her lyrics have saved my life. And I'll forever be a lamb and so grateful for her god given talent. I love her.

Tree lighting (48,182) by Jay from USA
I hope Mariah is doing some vocal warm ups. I hope she drank some tea. I'm really rooting for her tonight, especially since all that what happened last night. She doesn't need more bad publicity. Lets all the lambs in the land focus our positive energy towards her and her vocal cords.

Thirsty (47,989) by Jay from USA
Everyone keeps mentioning that Thirsty is about Nick. But I remember when the album came out, it was mentioned somewhere that Thirsty was actually about Damizza. I know there were rumors that they dated and he was going to publish a book and talk about his time with Mariah. She actually filed some kind of cease and desist. It makes more sense that the song is about Damizza then Nick.

Smearing (47,875) by Jay from USA
Every time I post a message I mention how I think that there is a smear campaign against Mariah. Now, with this Walter A. interview, I am definitely convinced. What I don't understand is why someone is still hung up on Mariah like that.

Mariah's shortcomings? (47,148) by Jay from USA
I wonder why people are so upset about Mariah's voice. She hasn't had a perfect vocal performance in a long time. Why are people still bringing it up and, even worse, comparing her to other singers. I've been a fan of hers since the early 90's, I remember her perfomances then. And I am grateful that I was able to watch them then and remember them still. I still appreciate her and her talent. We need to stop speculating what her issues are and either just accept her as she is or move on and find someone else to admire. Nothing we say on this forum or anywhere else will change her or her situation. We can't assume we know what goes on in her life, because we only get glimpses of what she wants us to see. She may not sing like she used to but at least she's not horrible. If we are not careful we'll turn her into another Michael Jackson, just a caricature of herself.

Mariah wants/Mariah needs... Jermash (46,598) by Jay from USA
I totally believe Jermaine when he says he stepped down, the whole thing actually smells like it was a plan put in place until the separation of her marriage and the separation of the labels. Here we have Mariah teasing us with the album that keeps getting delayed and You're Mine (Eternal) is released and people are bashing her and/or Jermaine because of its lack of promotion and then the album push back again and in the end, we have a great album that she recorded more songs for and added remixes of old songs and an album cover with old pictures or photoshopped pictures (Thirsty and WDKWTD) and the news of the labels breaking apart and the news that she has a new manager and the news of her and Nick separating. The new songs/old remixes make sense now (even though just about everyone had a negative opinion about it). The new manager just happens to be someone associated with the old structure at the label. Perhaps Jermaine was just there as a "manager" until everything fell into place. We know Mariah may be hard to work with because she no longer wants to be told what to do career wise, who can blame her, and Jermaine has said that he's tried to direct her in a different direction (ballads) and all she wanted to do was hip hop inspired tunes. She needs someone that can guide her without her feeling that she is being molded into something she doesn't want to be.

KP article (45,542) by Jay from USA
Katy trying to shade Mariah doesn't bother me as much as the writing alluding that Mariah is on the same level as Hilary Duff. They compared Katy destroying Mariah's career to Beyoncé destroying Hilary's career. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

That remix of YDKWTD is giving me I'm Every Woman vibe (Whitney's version). Very disco, wanna put on my dancing shoes and go clubbing. Also loving that song that samples Emotions. Martyn, can you tell me what song samples Prisoner?

YDKWTD single cover (44,989) by Jay from USA
It isn't scary or "eww" and there's nothting wrong with MC's face, it's just a really bad photoshop job. It's almost like Def Jam gave a classroom project to a class of middle schoolers and this is the end result. And can we stop wih the JLo comments? I mean, she has an album to promote so she may or may not say anything to protray herself as humble. "I don't know her" so I can't say whether or not she is humble. But I highly doubt we'l see Mariah and her walking down the street giggling like school girls or their twins ever having a play date. It's okay for people not to be friends. On a lighter note, has anyone had any luck turning the Butterfly drink into a alcoholic mixed drink? No? Am I the only one who bought it?

Oh. Em. Gee. (44,714) by Jay from USA
I don't understand why some people are in a tizzy about this Butterfly water/drink. It's obvious she is not using it to promote her music (other than placing the album on the table at the press confress). If she wanted to promote her music and new album, she would go on talk/radio shows and play music, or at least talk about it. I believe there is a bigger picture that we are all missing, mostly because none of us are in the industry. There has to be something behind the scenes at the record company. Maybe I am a bit naive but I believe the smear campaign that started in the Charmbracelet era is still going strong or reignited. It's not like she isn't putting herself out there. She still comes out in magazines (whether postive or not its still publicity), people are still talking about her. How many other artists from the 90's are people still talking about? The media talked about Whitney (RIP) but it was negative with her addiction and such. She is still getting her name out there. Let's just all come down and buy Butterfly, or don't buy it and move on with your life. I doubt she needs any more of your money if you don't want to spend it on her. She's doing just fine without it. I'll keep on supporting her because she keeps putting music that I like and enjoy.

MIAM (44,581) by Jay from USA
I'm loving the new album. Best album she's done in a long time. Not that I didn't enjoy MOAIA or MCIIY, but MIAM gives all of us a little of everything we love. I'm forever saying that Mariah caters musically to so many genres. I'm not mad that she hasn't sold as well as she used. The reviews for the most part are great and that means a lot considering there are many that hate her so much or don't give her dues. Someone mentioned that she has so many fans on FB but sold so little. I know for a fact some people just follow her for the sake of following her. There are at least three people that I know that follow her just because I follow and have never bought a Mariah album in their lives. Lets just be glad she still making music for the rest of us that care.

Jeez, the way people went in on you over your kik name. I thought it must have been so offensive until I found your post. That name, de "sucio" no tiene nada. I was expecting something NSFW. (I's assuming you speak Spanish.)

Singles by KaizenOcean (42,245) by Jay from USA
Maybe KaizenOcean meant those singles should have been released in the order he listed them. I don't think that Bye Bye should have been a single. It doesn't sound like a radio friendly song. Migrate of course. I can only imagine if they would have given it the dance remix treatment with resung vocals. I remember when she performed it on SNL and she was on the Ryan Seacrest radio show the next day/week and she said she wasn't happy with the performance. I wonder if any of the dance remixes from the Memoirs album would have been released, if it would have done well on the radio. I was very upset when IDJ scrapped the "Mariah Carey vs Jump Smokers" album. I remember the interviews Jump Smokers were doing while remixing the album and how excited they were to be working with Mariah. Also, very upset about Angels Advocate. Breakdown, also a very wise move had they released it. Lyrically, that song is amazing. It just flows so well. The whole Butterfly album is fantastic. My favorite album by far. From Glitter, a very underrated album for sure, I would have loved for Last Night A DJ Saved My Life to have been released. My favorite performance was on the VH1 Fashion Awards. Of course, the remixes would have been stellar. Especailly if David Morales would have gotten his hands on it. And the video for it was cute. And I thought I was the only one that wanted Now That I Know released as a single. I was so excited when she performed it on tour.

You're Mine remixes (42,120) by Jay from USA
I just heard the dance remixes on her YouTube channel. I was kinda hoping for more vocals and lyrics but they are not bad. My favorite overall is still "Jermaine Dupri x Kurd Maverick Germany to Southside Remix". I still miss her working with David Morales. One of the things that I love about Mariah is that no matter what kind of feelings you are in or what mood you are in, she always has something for everyone. I'm in a dance mood, let me pop and lock it with a dance remix. If I'm in the mood for some "hoodriah", she got somehting else for you. Or in a lovey dovey mood, hold up, let me switch tracks. There's something for everyeone. And through it all, she never stops being MC, no matter what. It never seems like it doesn't fit her. David Cole said it best: "It's never 'why is she doing that?' it comes across, like 'this belongs to her'." Still I can't wait for the album to come out. I'm very excited.

Mariah's radio play (42,025) by Jay from USA
I'm at work and have sat here at my desk for almost four hours listening to the same radio station and it seems the have the same ten songs on constant rotation. I usually dial surf and get different stations and don't really notice. It makes me think that IDJ would have to pay to have YM(E) added to the rotation. I'd rather have Mariah release a great album full of great songs. Instead of forcing people to play the song and pay to have another number one song.

All things Mariah (41,656) by Jay from USA
I don't think that Ariana is in denial. She may very well be trying to distance herself from being compared to Mariah so much. as a new artist, even as young as her, she wants to be her own person, just like Mariah wanted to be when she started out and Columbia/Sony steered her in a certain direction. What I did find curious is that she mentioned that she is influenced by Destiny Child's vocal runs. Who does she think influenced them? It's like she is trying too hard not to seem like "mini Mariah". Anyway, I haven't heard her album at all but I do like the songs I've heard. I hope she grows into her own. I cant wait for Mariah's new album to come out. and I'm very curious to hear Thirsty.
