Virgin Records America is proud to announce that the first single from Mariah Carey's label debut, the Glitter soundtrack, has been certified gold. "Loverboy", from the soundtrack to Mariah's film debut, has been officially certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, in recognition of over 500,000 copies sold. The track peaked at Number Two on the Billboard Hot 100 for the chart week ending July 27 when it sold over 180,000 singles.
