Savoring taste of fame
| | | Jen Yemola | | Like plenty of other people, Jen Yemola gets star-struck. Her celebrity of choice? Mariah Carey. When Chef Gordon Ramsay said the remaining contestants on Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" would be cooking for "trendsetters", Yemola appeared on camera saying, "If it's Mariah or if it's the Rock, I will pee my pants."
And when she guest-starred on the Rocky and Sue show on KRZ on Thursday, Joey B. from "Us Weekly" called in with her weekly gossip report. "Have you ever met Mariah?" Yemola blurted out. Joey B. has not, so it might be a while before Yemola crosses paths with the singer.
But the 26-year-old pastry chef ousted on the July 30 episode to finish third in the competition, which concludes Aug. 13, doesn't just get excited over pop divas. She watched Season 2 of "Hell's Kitchen" with much interest, especially for last season's winner, Heather West. In fact, Yemola got to meet West at Terra Rossa, the restaurant she works at as a prize for winning "Hell's Kitchen".
"When I met Heather, I was stoked," Yemola said Friday while clanking pots and pans for her work at The Inn at Turkey Hill in Bloomsburg and talking on the phone at the same time. "I was so excited. She's like an inspiration to me because of all the charity work she does, and she does a lot of things for kids. I said if I ever became big, I want to help people and do charity."
