Mariah Carey's fat farm hell pushes her to brink again
Singer Mariah Carey is on the verge of another major breakdown after putting herself through a hellish fat farm regime. The singer shed seven kilos during a stint at Arizona's Enchantment Resort in the lead up to her acclaimed performance of America's national anthem at American Football's Super Bowl earlier this month in New Orleans.
But, according to American tabloid National Enquirer, the drastic weight-loss has taken its toll on the singer. The 31-year-old, who suffered a breakdown last year, was out of shape and pale when she checked into Enchantment on January 20 and after insisting on late-night work-outs and strange diets she checked out in tears after a few days.
An insider says, "While she was at the spa, she worked out in the dead of night so nobody would see her. She even had resort staff cover her windows with black fabric. During the day, she was essentially a hermit. She was in darkness practically the entire time she was there."
The source adds "Mariah was driven in a windowless van down to the weight room and taken into the spa from the bask. Because she's so paranoid, Mariah ate in the library to avoid being seen by other guests." According to sources, Mariah's ambitious bid to lose 14 kilo's before the Super Bowl left her exhausted and miserable and she fled from the resort in the middle of the night, having shed half her desired weight.
