Mariah's makeup artist uses this drugstore mascara

The phrase "celebrities are just like us" has never applied to Mariah Carey. The woman takes baths in milk, for god's sake. Don't get me wrong: I love Mariah Carey and may or may not aspire to be her. But one word I don't associate with her is "drugstore". That's where her makeup artist Kristofer Buckle comes in.

Buckle doesn't just do Carey's makeup - he's a celeb favorite MUA whose brushes have graced the likes of Blake Lively and Sharon Stone. Which is why his clients presumably trust him to do whatever he wants, even if that means gasp using drugstore makeup.

In a new interview with ET, Buckle lists his go-to products. They span a range of prices and brands, including Buckle's own foundation stick. But the one we were most surprised to see was the CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Waterproof Mascara, a $9 tube of volumizing mascara that you can buy at any drugstore. (Well, maybe not that surprising, since it did win a Best of Beauty award twice.)

We're big fans of drugstore mascara (and, well, anything that costs less than $10). But there's something about the image of Carey using the same tube of mascara I have stashed in my studio apartment's tiny medicine cabinet that just makes us want this product even more. Part of me doesn't quite believe that Carey lets anyone touch her famously long lashes with a $9 mascara, but the other part wants to run out and hoard LashBlast.

Buckle's other go-to products include Surratt Relevée Lash Curler ($30) (also Mario Dedivanovic's fave), Tweezerman Classic Slant Tweezer ($23), and Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel in 77 Black ($16). Using those products and more, he's created looks like Carey's golden goddess AMAs look and the Hollywood glam for her "With You" video. We're ready to take any and all of his suggestions. Now, who's up for a Target run?

Mariah famously states she doesn't use mascara, prefers fake lashes.
