A colonial estate in Atlanta is proving to be a favorite with celebrities. A recent transaction by a management company with ties to Mariah Carey suggests the powerhouse singer is now a Georgia peach.
The "All I Want for Christmas" singer looks like she snagged this Southern spread just in time for the holidays. The off-market transaction from last November showed the massive mansion sold for $5.65 million.
And Carey isn't the only star to have spent time in the elegant hilltop estate on 4.1 acres. We first became acquainted with the stately home in 2020, when "Fast and Furious" star Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson posted a photo of it on Instagram. Well, at least part of the home. He depicted his fury with his rental property's gate.
After severe storms caused a power outage, the gate wouldn't open and blocked the actor from leaving for a film shoot. So on to Plan B: The former WWE strongman posted a photo that showed the contraption completely ripped out of the ground.
He noted that he "pushed, pulled and ripped the gate completely off", all by himself. Aside from his rather astounding feat of brute strength, we were also a bit shocked to find him renting a massive mansion in the ATL.
All's well that ends well. The gate was quickly repaired, but we'd love to hear how he explained the situation to the landlord.vJohnson performed his gate-ripping antics at least a year prior to Carey's purchase. Records show that the property was leased for $25,000 a month starting in 2017, while also popping up for sale with a price of $8 million.
Now boasting a fully functioning gate, the 12,575-square-foot mansion is definitely a hit. It has eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. It features a columned entrance as well as a guesthouse, pool, and tennis court.
Inside, highlights include a coffer-ceilinged living room, formal dining room, and kitchen with a center island with seating. The primary suite has a private sitting area, fireplace, and bathroom with a separate tub and shower. Luxe amenities include a home theater and gym, and the grounds feature brick paths and a pond.
And, of course, should the diva have trouble opening her gate, she can just call on The Rock to come on over. Carey, 53, also spends time on the West Coast, where she rents an eight-bedroom Beverly Hills home for $35,000 a month. The New York native also owns a tricked-out triplex in Tribeca.
Carey is one of the bestselling music artists of all time, with sales of over 220 million records worldwide, as well as some 19 hits on the Billboard charts.
