Mariah Carey gets back on track

A year ago, Mariah Carey's career had pretty much derailed, with disappointing results for her latest movie and album and a stint in the hospital for an emotional and physical breakdown. But she said her life is back on track now and that she is starting fresh. While her work ethic is still strong, she said, she's taking better care of herself.

"If you put the whole celebrity and music business and whatever other projects you are involved in first before the human being, that's when anybody will crash physically, your body cannot go on one hour of sleep for two months," she said. "It doesn't work. And no matter how tough you think you are at a certain point, you just have to stop."

In addition to a new record deal, she has a new album due out in December. She said her new album isn't exactly autobiographical but that her emotional breakdown last year makes the words in her new project feel a little closer to home for her. She describes the single "Through The Rain" as "a hopeful message about people going through tough times and having faith and believing that they can get through them."

"With this particular song, it kind of has a certain realness to it that is a little deeper than maybe in the past," she said. The album is due out in December: the tenth, to be exact. There's no title for it yet.
