Diva reputation affecting Hollywood career

Singer Mariah Carey is set to struggle in her attempts to jump-start her acting career - because she has a long-running reputation as a demanding diva in the movie industry. The beauty has been accused of displaying regular bouts of difficult behaviour years before she landed her 2001 film flop "Glitter".

A source at the Sundance Film Festival tells American showbiz website Page Six, "She has a bad reputation for being a diva. Several years ago, she was supposed to meet (director) Stephen Frears in Santa Monica to audition for High Fidelity with John Cusack. The producers wanted her there at 10am but she said she didn't wake up until at least noon."

When the star agreed to be in The Bachelor with Chris O’Donnell, sources say her demands proved to be a challenge. The source continues, "She wanted people to fly her hairdresser, make-up artist, tour manager and chef in, give her two bungalows in San Francisco and eight cars. She didn't get anything."
