Mariah will not bring her tour to Australia

As Mariah prepares to embark on her first world tour in years, it has been revealed that despite the eagerness of fans, she will not visit Australia. This was confirmed by Universal Music Australia today. No reason was given and this is all the information we have at this time. We are sorry to have to deliver such disappointing news to Mariah's Australian fan base. In paticular those fans who are still waiting for the return visit promised to them after Mariah cancelled one of her 1998 Melbourne concerts.

Mariah Carey has been one of the most successful international artists in Australian music industry history. Having sold close to 4 million units (albums and singles) and reaching the singles and albums top 10 an incredible twenty-one times, her popularity is not in doubt. In Australia Mariah has seven gold and seven platinum singles, as well as an astonishing 28 platinum certifactions for her albums (and two gold). All this and Mariah's first and only visit to Australia was as part of the 1998 Butterfly World Tour where she sold out six concerts.

In recent years her sales have diminished slightly, just as they have the world over. However the 2002 gold certification of "Mariah Carey Greatest Hits" illustrates that Mariah is still a favourite among Australian music lovers. It is a great shame that yet again Australian fans will not be rewarded for their endless support.
