Mariah makes sobbing schoolgirl's day

Mariah Carey brought tears of joy to the face of a young New Yorker who lost her brother in Iraq - by pulling her up on stage during a TV concert. Carey was playing live in Times Square for NBC's breakfast show Today on Friday, 30 May 2003 when she thrilled teenager Natasha Sullivan by inviting her to join her onstage.

Sullivan emailed Carey about her family tragedy but never imagined it would lead to a meeting. The sobbing girl says, "This is a dream come true. It's very exciting." Generous Mariah admits she felt she compelled to meet the girl. She explains, "Her story was so touching and I was so glad to be able to meet her and spend some time talking to her."

Kindhearted Carey is now trying to set up a meeting with 10-year-old blind fan Michelle Katz, after hearing how the youngster was sent a nasty email by a hoaxer pretending to be the diva on a bogus website.
