No Christmas Carey cover
Contrary to reports in the tabloids, Bloc Party aren't going to conclude their annus mirabilis with a festive season single. And yet, surprisingly, the rumour that they were planning to collaborate with Kaiser Chiefs on a version of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" wasn't completely made up.
"We talked about it, but it isn't going to happen," says Matt Tong, drummer in the London-based quartet. Personally Tong is a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas pop. "I'd bring back the old boys myself - Slade, Wizzard," he says, still puzzled that the red tops have even mentioned his band. "That must mean this indie rock is a gold rush," he jokes. (The Times)
