Mariah Carey's formula strikes platinum

Mariah Carey has done it again. Despite downturns in overall record sales this week, the newlywed songbird crossed the platinum sales mark by moving more than 1 million copies of her latest CD, E=MC2, in the nine weeks since it was released. Her sixth studio album now becomes her sixth platinum album to date.

The follow-up to Carey's 2005 comeback disc The Emancipation Of Mimi, this year's E=MC2 features the Number One single "Touch My Body" and the current radio single "Bye Bye". Despite selling 27,000 copies this week and crossing the platinum mark, E=MC2 falls to Number 21 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart this week.

In other news, the new Mrs. Nick Cannon is set to launch a second fragrance this year. Luscious Pink by Mariah Carey, the follow-up to M by Mariah Carey, is set to hit stores in September. The perfume is reportedly a mix of Tahitian tiareflower, lily of the valley, pink peony and white musk.
