About Billy from Greece: I don't know, and neither do you.

American Idol appearances (39,903) by Billy from Greece
Apart from that horrendous turquoise dress and the accompanied hairdo that she wore at a time during the early auditions stage, Mariah looked stunning in most of the live shows. I've been looking at some of her appearances and everything is perfect. The guy who was doing her hair really got it on point in terms of how she looks her best. During the first live show in particular, where she wears a black dress, she is just exquisite head to toe. She was similarly breathtaking in the blue Donatella Versace dress that she wore on April 4. Great styling overall. Random, I know, but thought I should mention it.

Re: RJJ12 (39,892) by Billy from Greece
Although tastes vary, "The Art of Letting Go" is for me miles better than some of the songs you mentioned. "I Stay In Love" is to my eyes the most generic Mariah single as of yet, from a structural point of view as well as in terms of musicianship, where "TAOLG" really shines. Similarly, "Angels Cry", though very listenable/catchy and pretty as a whole, is "too" radio friendly, if I can say that. Finally, what may seem as a disadvantage to you, namely, the "squeezing of too many words into a line" that you mention, is for me the distinct aspect of the song, since it allows Mariah to almost scat and leads to a more complex style of delivery, which only showcases Mariah's ability for performances of high sophistication, albeit at the expense of radio-friendliness as some of you mention (although I don't necessarily agree with that either). Some lyrics about "kitchen windows" and deleting contacts, I'll admit, could have been revised, but they don't take away from what is a truly great track overall.

Thank you! Finally someone reacting to the "know-it-all" people. Apparently, there are too many shrinks here who can deeply and wisely read between the lines complicated, well-coded aspects of human behavior carrying a subliminal message of mighty importance foreshadowing a downfall about to overwhelm MC. For crying out loud.

Re: Walter (39,677) by Billy from Greece
Back in July 2005, in a promotional appearance to a German show, a fan asked Mariah if she would work with Walter again. Her response was a rather dismissive "nah", clearly cynical. I'm not saying that that's where she necessarily stands today too, but it is definitely a sign of what other people have also been supporting, namely, that their breakup was much more than just a fight and obviously goes deep.

Molly Meldrum 1997 interview (39,665) by Billy from Greece
Check out the full interview of Mariah and Molly Meldrum from 1997 prior to the release of "Butterfly", which is 40 minutes plus long. She is digging deep into the creative processes of the records. Molly asks her some really good, music-oriented questions. Parts of it have already been on youtube, but this one contains even more details, at least ones that I had not found before.

Hi Mika! Could you please let me know if the photograph of Mariah you're using here is available somewhere online? I know It's the cover of "Anytime You Need A Friend", but I'd like to find it without the title and name on it just like you have it. Thanks.

"Dim All The Lights" acapella (39,620) by Billy from Greece
Check out a new video with MC where she sings acapella a portion of Donna Summer's "Dim All The Lights". So cool.

Re: hosts / Lead The Way (Bill) (39,474) by Billy from Greece
I must agree that they interrupted Walter several times, but this is part of the radio hosting process, "guiding" the interview or something. I'm sure they could be smoother. Not to mention that Pauly (the one with the glasses) made some quite bitchy comments about present-day Mariah. Still, I did not find them to be a "parody of gay people" as Bill from the UK suggested. They were just a real-life couple making inside jokes and references to Mariah's music, which is obviously an influence on the both of them. On another note, "Lead The Way" was indeed written during the "Butterfly" sessions but it was never meant for the "Butterfly" album. Mariah wrote it with the movie in mind ("All That Glitters" at that point), which she started developing around the same time. There is a hard-to-find European interview from late 1997 (after the release of "Butterfly") where Mariah talks about a song she wrote for the movie.

Walter Afanasieff on Pauly and Monks (39,462) by Billy from Greece
You need to hear this interview. Walter talks quite extensively about Mariah and she comes in and out of the interview throughout. I found it extremely interesting when he said that to him "Butterfly" (the album) is an unfinished record, with string parts missing, particularly in "Whenever You Call", which was his favorite. He refers to the infamous fight he and Mariah had and it is quite moving to see the regret that is still there. He also addresses the rumors of them working together again and apparently Randy Jackson had something to do with that. Just many interesting stuff. Check it out.

Some posts here are just really, really disturbing. "So called accident"? Records of her admittance? Press "investigating"? Seriously?

I didn't know about the tweet. I also just remembered that he had commented on "Daydream" and "Glitter". Here's his exact comments: "Daydream is one of my most played records. People need to reinvestigate Glitter. I'm settled enough in my masculinity to say I don't see anything wrong with Glitter."

"I took notice (99.9%) that she hasn't wrote a song yet that has had a swear or cuss word in it which is amazing." You may need to check that twice I think (from "Charmbracelet" onwards to be exact).

Ryan Adams (39,434) by Billy from Greece
I'm not sure how many people know this so I thought I could post it: Ryan Adams (whose music I'm not really familiar with) has an album called "Heartbreaker". According to Wikipedia, the album's title originates from a poster of Mariah (in this case, the "Heartbreaker" single cover I presume): "My manager called and said, 'You have 15 seconds to name this record.' My eyes focused on this poster of Mariah wearing a T-shirt that said Heartbreaker. I just shouted, 'Heartbreaker'!" Cool, ha?

Re: Panos (39,304) by Billy from Greece
I never even noticed that before, although I would like to double check this information by looking at the booklet of the actual cd. Still, quite impressive indeed. I love Nile Rodgers's sound and he is one kind of a musician, no doubt. And I would definitely support this type of sound coming from Mariah as well. On another note (or, should I say diva), apart from brilliant grooves like "Tenderness" from Diana Ross's 1980 "Diana" album, the other half of Chic was involved in her "Swept Away" album in a great track called "Telephone". Really worth checking out.

When you said that Mariah "has worked with him on her debut album", were you referring to Nile Rodgers? Are you sure about that?

Re: nikki (39,283) by Billy from Greece
"MC suffered from a great deal of illnesses at that time including heart palpitations, skin outbreaks, and vocal inflammation because of stress and the fact she was living out of hotel rooms and traveling kept germs in contact." Are you Mariah's personal doctor? Because unless you are and unless you can quote Mariah having directly said this, I doubt you can know or certify for such intimate information on the basis of rumors, written or spoken.

Re: Will (39,240) by Billy from Greece
That's an interesting observation that I've been contemplating on myself as well. I was particularly puzzled about why they omitted "When You Believe" from Whitney's 2000 "Greatest Hits", especially the international version of the album. What comes across as further buffling is that this double disc contains personal liner notes by Whitney, where she thanks all of her collaborators and duet partners, except for Mariah. Same thing with her "My Love Is Your Love" album where "When You Believe" originally appeared. She thanked Kelly Price, Faith Evans etc, but not Mariah, which is weird given that they were friends at that point. As for the non-inlcusion in Whitney's posthumous "Best of" collection, I assume record industry politics and "unwritten rules" prevailed, with the latter referring to whether a duet with another major peer/rival artist may overpower the stardom of the artist in question. I don't know. Still, they did include Whitney's duet with Aretha in the latest collection.

Dreamlover (Bam Jam Soul Remix) (39,208) by Billy from Greece
Has anyone listened to this version of "Dreamlover"? Is this indeed the original version as some of the comments in the YouTube video indicate?

Re: CDC (39,116) by Billy from Greece
Hi there. I'm with you on the Diana Ross reference. I have in fact made a similar observation before. I love Diana Ross, and not only has Mariah numerously stated how Ross has been an influence, but I also find it really interesting the way MC channels her in her own work in a distinctive way. Their career stories also bear similarities, with the male dominating mogul figure being one, and how they longed to be in charge of their professional and personal lives. Performance-wise, in terms of what it means or takes to be a diva, Ross has been the archetype, and Mariah learned from the best, only she is an original herself as well. That's why they blended so well on Divas 2000. From various comments throughout the years, it is also clear that Mariah is cognizant of Ross's career (she even twitted he lyrics of "Home" not so long ago) and I'm sure it has functioned as a guide for dos and donts. As for Diana Ross's 1980s work, you also got it on point, and I have to say that she was fantastic during that period, kutschy and all.

Subtle Invitation (39,060) by Billy from Greece
Masterpiece. Just a gorgeous song in an all round way, lyrically especially. The multiple layers (akin to "Lullaby", another hugely favorite of mine) lead to an orgasmic climax. It's sort of cinematic.
