About Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada: Proud lamb since "Vision Of Love" 1990

Re: Deflated and angry (96,211) (96,218) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Jade, your post is spot on. Beautifully said. I'm not sure how active I'm going to choose to be here in the future for a lot of the reasons you've touched on. None of which for me are really about Mariah. I'll always enjoy her music but the constant arguing on here gets really taxing at times. I often wonder if people have forgotten how to have respectful conversation that allows for differing viewpoints without turning toxic. Mariah is no saint. I don't like everything she has chosen to do, and I don't always agree with her. If she wants real lasting happiness she will need to become more self aware and accountable but I'm not into vilifying her either that requires way too much effort for someone I don't know and will likely never meet. It is too exhausting quite frankly. Sony's Mariah has been gone for years. It isn't new.

Re: Where Are You Christmas demo (96,098) (96,102) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Yes Eric I've been coming here for years. I've also seen people share articles on the board which got linked on occasion. I thought the board might talk about the demo. My bad. I won't bring any outside content to the board in future. Apparently the post came across as stupid and offensive. Got it.

Re: Trash (96,082) (96,087) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Exactly Bill. Did Mariah need to include the moment in her book? No. In fact she probably could have left in out. However, it is not as if Mariah has kept her opinion on Diva's Live a secret. She and Celine have different views on how the song should have been handled and that's allowed. And I also understand people have reasons for feeling Mariah could be nicer to Celine and other artists. That's their right too. I still love Mariah's performance even though there is obvious rasp in her voice. Overall a great concert.

Re: Fave five The Rarities songs (96,005) (96,007) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I really love this album. Finding it very hard to narrow to 5 songs, particularly since I still love several rare tracks we already had as B sides.

I'm so glad I got the audiobook. She is doing a fantastic job telling the story and singing here and there.

Re: Oprah interview (95,773) (95,792) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I get where you are coming from, I really do. But, Mariah's journey with her past and her story is hers and no one else's. Telling someone to get over their past and let it go is not what creates a healed and whole person. Nor is instructing that person to stop playing a victim. Healing doesn't work that way: if it did, my work with clients would only last one meeting. It isn't that simple.unfortunately. Changing the relationship to your pain is an ongoing thing and requires effort: I hope she continues to work through it, because the interview made it very clear these experiences are still very alive for her.

I am avoiding song snippets until the album release but [your] post is not making it easy for me Bill.

Re: The Oprah Conversation (95,761) (95,767) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I opted for the audio book too as I think it will be cool to hear Mariah read it. I'll probably get a physical copy at some point too. I'm looking forward to the stories Oprah mentioned behind the songs. The person who wrote the soundtrack to my life talking about how the songs came to be sounds damn good to me.

I'm proud of Mariah (95,766) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
In the interview with Oprah she was real. It was hard to be that raw. You could see it. But she didn't hide. Having come to MCA for many years, I remember many conversations where the topic of trauma came up, I remember compassion being viewed at times as too soft. The thing is trauma is not an easy subject, every person processes it differently. It isn't making an excuse for someone to recognize they've been through trauma. She gave voice to it and I'm glad. Having compassion for someone isn't about giving them a free pass, it is just about being willing to see them as a human being without judgment or anger.

She clearly still carries it with her, or some of Oprah's questions would have been easier to answer. I hope compassion is easier to give to Mariah now.

That’s what I’m talking about (Out Here On My Own) (95,616) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I found the use of the sample in Save The Day to be disjointed and messy. Even though I love Killing Me Softly. Out Here On My Own is gorgeous. I loved it on first listen.

Re: Mariah after Midnight (95,323) (95,327) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Well said Stacey. That's pretty much my stance as well. I'll likely always be curious and have interest in what Mariah is up to. She is one of the only artists I've followed for the entire ride. The extra tidbits and such are added bonuses at this point.

Generalizations (95,310) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I don't disagree that 1990-1996 is her prime and I still like some of the music post 1996. Some people don't. Not a big deal. Everyone on this board is entitled to their opinion including Andrew. So tired of the fact that he constantly gets singled out as the bad fan. He actually does make very valid points. I see him making an effort to communicate in a different way as of late (my opinion of course feel free to disagree with me I won't die lol) and I have enjoyed reading everyone's point of view. I don't always agree with people here. There are many times I don't if I'm being honest and that's OK. I don't really care what anyone thinks of my thoughts or opinions. I'm here because I enjoy reading about an artist that has greatly impacted my life. I like when a view different from my own opens my mind to something I might not have considered. That interests me. And I also believe it is very healthy to 100% disagree with someone and still respect them enough to not try to change their mind. That's just part of life. It is important to be able to think for yourself and express it without looking for anything else to give validation.

I don't post as much anymore because frankly I'm busy and I guess I don't feel I take the life and career of Mariah Carey as seriously as others might. She'll remain one of my favourite musical artists though. Some people might consider me to be "overly positive" but I'm not oblivious to the fact that Mariah has her flaws. I'm not stupid or delusional. I know Mariah's voice is not what it was in her prime. I know she doesn't always make stellar choices. I know she lip syncs and I have stated many times on this board that I believe Tommy did make very good decisions from a business standpoint that set Mariah's career on a path that was instrumental in helping her achieve her legacy. Did he do it by himself? No. But neither did she.

That doesn't mean I believe their marriage was healthy. Yes, she has had personal problems, absolutely. Pretty much every human does. As a fan, I do have my preferences. I prefer less of the sex kitten image. She doesn't need it. She is a naturally stunning woman and I personally feel as a woman myself, less is more. Being authentic and real is sexy. But that's just me. It is her life and her body she's going to do what she wants with it no matter how many opinions on her life are voiced. MC30 has been a fun ride. It's been really nice to take such a celebrated look at her catalogue. I have mixed feelings on the book. We shall see how it goes. Bottom line I'm enjoying myself and that's good enough for me.

Re: AIWFCIY CD autographed single still not received (95,233) (95,235) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I got mine in March I’m sorry you are still waiting. Mariah’s store does not do her brand any favors. I buy music from a few artists but Mariah’s merch always takes the longest by far.

I really want that version of "All in your mind" so I can stop playing the vault clip of it on loop.

Re: The Live Debut (94,628) (94,637) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Just bought the live EP. Super stoked to see what the other goodies are. Great way to start the weekend. Hope everyone is well. I haven't posted in ages, but I'm still happy I was one of the lucky ones to get a signed AIWFCIY single from her website. They had a glitch on the site and I was one of the first to order so I got a signed one even though I don't live in the US. Yay.

AYNAF is one of my favorite songs, so I am happy to see anything from the vault. I agree Licia I am glad they scrapped the original and went with the simple black and white version.
