It’s not that I’m not happy for the artists doing well with it. I just feel it’s more meaningful when a song catches on and it’s everywhere. I’d not even about Mariah keeping the record. And I don’t bregrudge anyone their success, but I do think it is fair to discuss the impact of streaming and the difference between breaking a record in the 90’s versus today. Even if Mariah did break the record again through streaming for me it would not have the same impact as OSD because the rules were different and the song impacted organically. That’s not sour grapes it’s just the difference in how things are done now. (Tuesday 30 July 2019; 20:46)

I think it's great that the collaboration on OTR is socially current and relevant that's wonderful happy for the artists, but I have yet to hear the song without seeing it out on my own and for a song to break a record musically I should know it and it should have at least made major impact on me. Niether has happened this time. Welcome to streaming music and how the quality of creating songs had changed. (Tuesday 30 July 2019; 17:13)

I also thought Justin Timerlake didn't suit the superbowl. It's not the place for every artist. Could Mariah pull it off? Do I think it would be healthy for Mariah to be more forthcoming about certain aspects? Yes I do for her own authenticity and her relationship to herself and others. But, I also see no value in being angry with her or condemning her. That won't help her either. Just because I acknowledge I can see unhelpful patterns in her life doesn't mean I think she's a bad person. I don't live in the world she does with the pressures and expectations of celebrity. I think she's human and makes mistakes. I still appreciate her and would love to see her free of public scandals like the one she is facing now. (Tuesday 22 January 2019; 00:22)

Her last album for me was fantastic, and I can't sit here and say that I fully agree that tribute shows mean an artists career is over. I do however feel artists that combine music and dance are rare few and far between now and this is probably a factor especially for visual tributes as this_is_qhm mentioned. I tend to come from a more gentle and compassionate place, that's how I show up in my life and it's in my nature, but it doesn't mean I don't see or say the truth. There are many ways to be truthful and objective, I don't consider myself a yes fan, There have been plenty of times Mariah has made choices that wouldn't be mine or that don't resonate for me personally but I also realize I have zero influence over her. All I do is watch what she does and buy her music. She is the one in charge of her life, I can't make her do anything so it's a waste of my enery to be angry about what I don't like. Andrew is entitled to his views as everyone is, but it doesn't mean only one person on the forum is capable of being honest. (Wednesday 2 January 2019; 20:44)

Yeah she was roasted over hot coals at the start of her career for copying Mariah a bit too much but she was a young kid. The media linked her to Mariah and wouldn't let up. At some point people need to let it go. She has her own tone and sounds nothing like Mariah to me. (Saturday 8 December 2018; 01:16)

We are light years away from the Christmas show when Stella was working with Mariah. I'm realistic I don't expect her to ever completely drop her preference for sexy outfits. It many not be my personal choice, but we know she likes it. If fans don't like an outfit, I totally get that, that's cool but it can be said without publicly shaming her quite so much. If she wants to wear angel wings that light up on stage at Christmas is it really that big of a deal? She wasn't falling out of her dresses and she wasn't wearing a bra and panties on stage. The general public don't follow her like we do and if we her fans were not resonating with her during the last few years, you can be sure the public wasn't. Considering where she was a year ago, her team has done amazing. People don't just automatically start to hang out with you again after the kind of backlash she had.
