I am one who will always follow Mariah's career and find something to enjoy. There is no one who sounds like her and her music in some way shape or form has been the soundtrack of my life and will continue to be even when she's not making music. I am going to continue to enjoy her even if/when I don't resonate with every song. That's just how I roll I suppose. Mariah's fanbase will likely always be divided unfortunately. There will always be fans who. prefer earlier years. That's Ok. If there really nothing that works for some of her audience on Caution, there's not much to say really is there? People don't have to like it. But, you are absolutely right. Mariah chooses to market herself to a younger audience overall She's not an adult contemporary artist. She's also not in her 20's anymore which impacts how her music is distributed and who will play it. Trying to blend in with the Cardi B'd and other music being played currently and still do your own thing, is just part of what any artist does. Like it or not, the slang she is using in her lyrics right now is part of the market that is buying the music she wants to make Just go on YouTube and listen to people reviewing music. It's there. The music world in general terms is lacking lyric and vocal content with substance. Most of the music I listen to today isn't radio popular it's singer/songwriter or independent artists. If I wasn't a Mariah fan, I probably wouldn't have much of a sense of what the music industry is doing now to be trendy. Lol. (Tuesday 20 November 2018; 22:22)

The other 6 songs (86,201) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada I love Caution and Portrait. I know some of you feel Caution is generic. I just find the song to be very sexy without being overly sexual. I love how the lyrics fall fast to the rhythm of the music and she references the north star which is significant to me. I'm all for atmospheric and moody tracks as a rule, but I'm just not feeling Giving Me Life at all. I'm glad so many of you like it, but I find the background instrumentation in the song incredibly distracting and jarring to her vocals. Especially since I love her lower register. Slipping Away is one of my favorite songs but Giving Me Life doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's a grower and I'll like it later, but right now it's not my thing. OMG doesn't really grab me either I wish it did. Sigh. I like 8th Grade though. Stay Long Love You reminds me of when she did "U Make Me Wanna". Not a song I would have ever bought on own, but it has a way of getting stuck in your head (Monday 19 November 2018; 00:38)

Yet the main topic on here the day after is still vocal decline. Sigh. lol. I truly enjoyed watching her work this way with artists and could easily have kept watching. Playing up the diva image over the years hasn't helped that, but I've never believed the image is a true representation of the genuine person. We got to see it on The Voice, and I loved it. I hope she's on route to showing more of herself to the public, because she deserves to be seen in her vulnerability and strength, using her gifts. While it is a completion show it doesn't rely on gimmicks, embarrassment or shock value. It has managed to stay about music which I appreciate. Good move team Mariah.
