About Warrior Butterfly from USA: Hello MCA-ers!

I have finally decided to join but have followed MCA since the late 1990s' I've known of Mariah since the MTV Unplugged era and became a lamb with butterfly in 1997.

Favoriet art work (55,967) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Anytime You Need A Friend 17 Always Be My Baby remix. I do wish there were more shots from the Daydream cover shoot by Steven Meisel especially the Daydream album cover shoot. All the HQ ones are still not as detailed as the cover itself.

Why You Mad Infinity remix (55,937) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Mariah's voice is barley recognizable. I can't decide if I like it or hate it. I wanna say deeper may be even auto tuned to match the rappers? Seemed to have given up the original verses for all her guests. For some reason I though French Montana was a girl, the Bieber part was nice but the rappers did not do Infinity any favors. I was listening to the Loverboy remix, there were three guest on the track as well but all the raps matched the premise of the track's subject.

I tried the link and it does not pop up, just a heading and blank space. Anywhere else I can view it?

Where is the discovery (55,778) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Eric, please re-install the discovery, it's a great reference. [Webmaster: The new website is responsive, which means it can also be viewed on tablets and smartphones. To make the discography responsive would take me weeks, and the discography is already very old and no longer updated.]

MV "Vision of love" v3? (55,415) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I was on discogs.com and ran across something intriguing under the VOL tab:
Vision Of Love (version 3) ?(Umatic, single, promo, PAL)
I opened the tab and what looks like a VHS has a label on it that reads:
Columbia Records
Mariah Carey
"Vision Of Love" Version 3
MC-VOL-V3-S-061190 3:34
#1505822DS 6/18/1990
Makes me wounder if the date printed is when it was supposed to primer. I googled the address for fun and I can't tell if that is where VOL might have been filmed or maybe the building had different life and used to be a editing company. Here's the link.

More then 18 no's (55,348) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Mariah Carey has always been a global artist since the beginning in 1990. It got me thinking about all of the #1's Mariah has ever achieved turns out there are roughly over 40 of them. Usually when the compilations are released they are based of the American and European charts alone, for example a #1 Through The Rain was reached in Spain but is not a considered a #1 to be included on any releases. Granted some of songs got to #1 for maybe a week and fell off but I feel that irregardless of how long a #1's stays in that position it should still be considered since it managed to reach the top. On a side not I did not realize Thank God I Found You was a #1 until Mariah talked about it in her Memories And Rants series.

Butterfly the song (55,280) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
'Originally, Butterfly was going to be a house record and, in fact, Fly Away was my starting point for the song," according to Mariah herself and I was thinking how WA said something about how Butterfly the album was unfinished. I tried to find the interview where he is talking to a station anyway. I like to think had Butterfly the song had stated strictly a house record how would it have shaped the album as whole. Seriously if you remove the song Butterfly from the sequence and play as is Fly Away is a great surprise.

Unfinished song that are interludes or preludes (55,279) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I noticed Mariah uses inter/pre-ludes very sparingly. My hunch is these are parts of the original song. Angels Cry has a slightly different vibe from the album cut. Vulnerability maybe was an original concept for Heartbreaker was a ballad. Interlude (Fantasy Sweet Dub Mix) was another idea for Fantasy that did not work for the track. However one interlude irks me, Languishing feels very unfinished as if it could have been fleshed out more. With that said I think it very pretty the way it is and the fact that it's under the standard song length of 4+ minutes is nice and simple and makes a statement.

Non likes (55,224) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
"Up out my face" is my top skip MC rapping the last verse uhu. No It's Like That just something about does not gel with me. The same with Loverboy. Touch My Body I like better live because sometimes she'll grown the line "I will hunt you down" gives it more authority that this will happen. You got me no chipmunks ruined it.

Ceriouse about something (55,107) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Mariah appeared on Oprah the day before her album hit the stores in 2008 when she said that "I just did a sequence with L.A. Reed" when asked what cut number Bye Bye Bye [sic] was. You can see what I'm talking about here less than minute into the video. My question is this the album has already been physically printed and pressed a head of time, since Oprah was holding a physical copy. If sequencing or order of tracks was being done the night before wouldn't throw off all the prints. Let's say if Bye Bye Bye [sic] was cut five for example but the print and booklet say thirteen. Wouldn't it take a few weeks to print that many physical copies? I'm wondering how it works.

Stacey challange (54,712) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I tried to pick songs that are not part of the 18 pack or automatically identified with Mariah.
Vocals:
01. Vanishing - Does not have to use whistle to sound amazing.
02. Long ago - Started to give hints of what was to come having a more Urban sound
03. The beautiful ones - She kept up with Drew Hill they are completely different but man she went for it, stayed low-mid range.
04. After tonight - Towards the end it sounds like does a duet with herself.
05. Subtle invitation - Around the 3:10 "if you really need me baby [...]".
Writing:
01. Alone in love - The longing for your lover to love you is captured.
02. Twister - Mourning and deep loss for someone that was truly special but wishing them peace.
03. Till the end of time - The original infinity, they share similar theme except this is less cheecky.
04. Cry. - "I should have known that you were trying to love me" trying to figure out the love your already in.
05. Supernatural - Ignoring Dem Babies being woven in and out it reads very sweetly, Underneath The Stars for 2014.

Re: (54,601) by RJJ12 (54,625) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I loved your post about MIAM, very well put. I put on the album recently to listen to it in passing and with exception You Don't Know What to Do and Money I liked it this round. Sometimes being a long time listener can take away from the body of work as it is, seems we're all in a way reaching the original Mariah from 1990 or which ever era you prefer. Also lets forget that MC has been singing for 25 years. If that album had just come out by another artist that was Mariah-ish, meaning we never heard of the MC style what so ever, I bet it would have done well if not better. Think of is a re-introduction. Just a thought.

After weeks of waiting I finally have my very own CK# 45202 Mariah Carey debut tri-fold card sleeve with fold-out poster album. I'm so happy. I have wanted one forever since I heard it existed, it's like a MC urban legend of sorts, the debut album that does not have Love Takes Time on the packaging but is on the CD. I believe it's "CD from the USA (2383)" in Eric's collection page. Thought I'd share my joy much love lambily.

The alternative version / songs never done (54,114) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Is much better less puppy (RIP) and closets. Songs that Mariah should have never done one dong each album. Prisoner, You're So Cold, MTV Unplugged. I can't hate it, MC songs are better stripped and live. Now That I Know, Jesus Born On This Day, When I Saw You, Babydoll, Did I Do That?, Sweetheart, Want You, You Got Me, To The Floor, I'm That Chick, Ribbon, O Little Town Of Bethlehem/Little Drummer Boy Medley, You Don't Know What To Do, Triumphant, U Make Me Wanna, Lil Love, My Love and AIWFCIY with Justin Beiber.

Re-re-release of Merry Christmas (53,986) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I don't like the idea unless there's some tracks that did not make it on the original. I'm confused first the greatest hits and now Merry Christmas. What's next? Emotions re-issued as a double album? If they want to get nostalgic do a Columbia anthology box set and load it with all seven albums and fan booklets. I don't know. I excluded Merry Christmas, it was made for the holiday season only, #1's because Sony already gave us a refreshed #1's and anything past 1999 because I'm not sure how someone can convince another label to release material that belongs to them such as Virgin and Island Def Jam.

Glitter (53,931) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I read the the MC chapter and parts these accounts don't seem that far fetched especially when I started reading about Virgin/Glitter. I'm going to try to explain this the best I can. I have been informed that I don't make sense. Looking in as a average person if you're not a Mariah fan that hears about this record huge deal, and she's debuting on a label with a soundtrack album. But has never acted an odd strategy. Glitter the film might have done well if it had been a cable presentation. Truth be told I only saw it because Mariah was in it. The movie didn't flow, seemed very thrown together even the films webpage there I said it. Mariah being a first time actress in a studio film, it might have been better to take a smaller bite. HBO did Queen Latifah's film Bessie as a special feature, instead of a theater release. Same theory applies you still need enough audience willing to take in the project, I liked Bessie, but I do see why HBO did it and not some studio in reality the average person is not going to care about a jazz singer that lived over a 100 years ago. As Glitter happened it seemed that people on the inside might have known in advance or had a hunch that it might not fair well in general. Perhaps Mariah didn't want to hear the negative there was a good director but not much else as far as promotion leading up to the film. I get the feeling that while trying to succeed she lost prospective of the big picture. The reason I say this is all those behind the scenes specials and segments, seemed to be formatted for a specials section for the dvd. Da Brat taking about her charater, extra's having memories while filming in the club scenes, footage of Mariah belting out Lead The Way and so on. I don't believe many talk shows were plugging it. It felt like if you're a lamb you knew if not oh well.

Re: Adam (53,598) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Hello, I don't have scans but I do visit discogs.com and a great Japaneses site to see what is out out there I give a it a week or two before things start popping up. I went digital a few years ago so I was upset to see this release did not have a digital booklet, not even a special iTunes edition. That would have been a neat interaction all the videos and liner notes.

Favorite album (52,822) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Emotions I always felt never has had fair shot, it's a great body of work. I wish the promotion for it at the time had been just as dedicated as her debut. I believe all the force was put on the song "Emotions". Think about it, two videos. Once they had the winning pony they rode it to death. Why is it my favorite? I think it was very forward thinking at the time, it moved away from the jackswing used allot in the debut and dabbled in many styles. "You're So Cold" has a good dance beat but the vocals are so amazing. "Till The End Of Time" was a ballad, yes again great vocals and the drum riff I guess you call it at around mark 4:25 was great way to wind down the song. "The Wind" was very delegate but powerful, she goes from mid-air to full chest voice. Aw hell it's just a pretty song and the fact she added lyrics to an already made musical piece that fit.

The challenge (52,788) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I've been digging the remixes she done over the years. "Someday", "Anytime you need a friend", "Fly away (Butterfly reprise)" to name a few. I love that Infinity itself has no guest or featured people, straight Mariah Carey. Makes me wonder if they will do remixes later.
