About Warrior Butterfly from USA: Hello MCA-ers!

I have finally decided to join but have followed MCA since the late 1990s' I've known of Mariah since the MTV Unplugged era and became a lamb with butterfly in 1997.

Love Takes Time live Arsenio Hall (52,532) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Did Mariah perform "Love takes time" during her debut performance or was it another date? I'm confused.

Identification (52,087) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
When I first became a fan it was the whistle register, my favorite version was the VMA in 1992. "Emotions" best rendition, better the track IMO. Anyway identification when I became a fan and started reading about her she came from hard knocks and raised above it, being the caretaker or adult of the family in her childhood and early years. She and I share a lot of common ground with that with exception of Mariah being extremely close to her mother, while I'm not. We are both "that woman-child". These lyrics particular always got me.

"Funny how one can learn
To grow numb to the madness
And block it away

I left the worst unsaid
Let it all dissipate
And I try to forget

As I close my eyes
Steadied my feet on the ground
Raised my head to the sky
And though time rolled by
Still I feel like a child
As I look at the moon

Maybe I grew up, a little too soon"

Butterfly 1997 - Close My Eyes and the entire track off Rainbow 1999 - Petals. I didn't know that that kind of life could be articulated in this way. An when I found out she began writing "Close My Eyes" in 1993 I loved it more as a song because she really though about it and reflecting. Makes me wounder what else she's been crafting over time.

Mariah detox (52,050) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Someone mentioned that they were getting ready for Mariah's new era by listening to all her stuff while they wait. I took the opposite approach, I figure if I wait it out (no Mariah at all) the new single would be even more exciting. I'm also wondering if this compilation will have different takes of Mariah's 18 No. 1's. One past compilation included a slightly different version of "Looking In" for example. Though now that I think about it will mostly stay standard being that the common versions of these tracks are what everyone remembers or will learn about.

Someone got creative, I think? (51,989) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I blow it up a bit and read the track listings. Go to photos and videos, just scroll down a few posts and you'll see the "back cover".

Favoriet ballads (51,848) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
"And You Don't Remember" and "Music Box", I always have had a special soft spot for those. I believe it's the way that she's using her whole voice.

#1's 2.0? (51,742) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Yes as a long time fan I have the original 1998 #1's, a nice compilation of that times' work. However as a long time fan or vintage lamb I was hoping for a deluxe or super pack type of deal.
Disc #1 - all the #1's (since Sony has a majority of her over all work)
Disc #2 - Mariah's demos from 1989 (we've been asking for it for years)
Disc #3 - re-recorded hits (she always said she didn't like some of the record recordings, breath new life into the classics)
Or better yet individual EP's. Justin Timberlake almost did that with "The 20/20 Experience" before composing it into one long album. Point is it would have worked as an EP as well. Unless Mariah is still string up some new surprises. For those of us that have been around for the past 25 years throw a bone.

The Vegas Player cover (51,524) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
It's sad I figured this out, I saw the cover and immediately though that looks really familiar. So I went to another one of my favorite places mariahcareynetwork.com and dug around the gallery a bit. The cover shot is from the The Emancipation of Mimi era 2005's Parade Magazine photo shoot. I knew it.

Nostalgic for Emotions (51,471) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
My sibling and I almost missed the schools bus because I had to see the Emotions video. There was a disagreement on who sang it something like "It's Mariah Carey let's go" and not being satisfied until I read the video credits at the end.

Clean version of Skydiving (51,447) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I really want to hear the song without an echo or the audio tag "exclusive". Does anyone know where it could be hiding?

Re: Nostalgia (51,405) (51,411) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I get nostalgia from Butterfly because that was the first time that I personally heard or saw Mariah on TV as it was happening. I waited for the official release and went to Virgin mega store and they had her "album art". I guess we can call it decorated throughout the store. The Virgin store always had these elaborate promotional designs in general, the one near me closed a while ago. Anyway and when you look at the top 10 wall, there were these long columns for each album for that week and Mariah had her very own just for the Butterfly CD. I looked at the CD itself and listened to the album. Bought it to the dismay of my family members, lol. At the time Virgin was the only place I could physically go to to get her international imports, yes $8.00 bucks in some cases but so worth it. Another nostalgia is Daydream, I heard it in passing in music class in grade school and didn't know it was Mariah. My teacher and other kids were all talking about it. Before everything was digitized I was a avid collector.

Mariah Daily and Mariah Carey Archives (51,087) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Originally Mariah Daily started as Wildcat's Mariah Page or something then became the Mariah Daily. Mariah Daily before it merged with Mariah Journal used to be more gossip driven, anything and everything regarding Mariah. I think Mariah Journal should still be its own thing, it was great on its own. I only miss bulletins of when and where she'll be performing and seen in what country. Uploading content from around the globe. I know YouTube fixes alot of disconnect but still. Sites of the past that were great: Mariah Online. It was green and had raer 1994 Merry Christmas pic designs. One Sweet Mariah. It was purple February sky, had a fantastic gallery. Mariah Buzz. Remember visiting but not its contributing factors to the Mariah community. Mariah Hero had a great layout before closing for good. MariahTurkiye.net. Fantastic fan posters for her videos, you can still see some of them on google. Hero Of Mariah Mariah Carey, Sunlight and many others. MariahDaily was like the phone book of MC sites, anyone remember web-rings? Still up and kicking www.mariahcarey.dk, www.sweetmariah.com. mariahcareynetwork.com left for a bit and then came back.

Las Vegas doc like Celine (50,472) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I don't see Mariah being this candid or open with her life, she strikes me as very protective her over image. To be this exposed takes guts. If Mariah did do this kind of doc I'd truly be impressed. Again just a thought.

Re: Lillie's Blues (Can't Turn You Loose) (50,382) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I made a spliced of "Lillie's Blues (Can't Turn You Loose)" from the film, taking out the dialog between Billie and her mom. As far as I know it was never released. Wish it was though with Mariah doing her real voice. For those that may not be aware of, Mariah is the one singing the song, they just changed the pitch so she sound like a young girl. Enjoy fellow lambily.

Expanding: Oscars (50,363) by Warren (50,372) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I watched Lady Gaga's performance wow. I did not know she could sing likethat. I am a fan but not a Little Monster. In the past Mariah has done some tributes/covers. "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" for Patti Labelle though it was raspy, I liked her imperfect tone. Christina Aguilera's "A Song For You" with Herbie Hancock really got her reaching other fans outside her fan base and seen in a different mature light. God if Mariah went full voice and ditches the whisper for a American classic, such as something from the un-ending catalog of Irving Berlin. "Love You Didn't Do Right By Me", a personal favorite. I know people would be like holly whistle register Batman. She did "When Do the Bells Ring for Me" with Tony Bennett. However Lady Gaga was used as the headliner if you will. Mariah's airy voice was used through out most of the performance with a few belts floating in and out of the number. Endless someone a lamb, Tony fan or someone happen to listen to the album all the way through you wouldn't have known Mariah was even featured.

Honey as a torch song (50,326) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
Someone here made a list of torch songs. I was thinking what if Mariah converted "Honey" in to a torch song, slowed it down and gave it some depth, that would be cool. Kind of like when Molly Ringwald jazzed up "Don't You (Forget About Me)".
