About Tevin from USA: A laid back guy that loves Mariah!

Re: Music Box v. Daydream v. Merry Christmas (86,721) (86,770) by Tevin from USA
94 vocal peak, thick rich buttery yet agile. 96 live vocalist peak (we all know the amazing vocals on the Daydream tour). 97 artistic piece (Butterfly lyrics will never be topped). 05 career peak (Mariah was on top and no one I mean no one was even close to her in 05, 06) 2018 legacy peak to infinity hehe.

Re: A lengthy meditation on the album (86,335) (86,367) by Tevin from USA
Dang Special K. Great points, I totally agree. I keep forgetting the general public thought Mariah was a white girl with a big voice, when she first broke into the industry. I think I remember that scene in Glitter where the director was talking about the "mystery " of her race. Also everyone can remember the Fresh Prince of Bel Air line, "He's the one that found out Mariah Cary was black."

My suggestion for those stuck in the past is to get some surround sound, a 3d video 4k ultra HD projector, some 3d glasses, then watch all the pre 97 performances to your blue in the face. That's the closest thing to a time machine you're going to get.

Spotify (86,296) by Tevin from USA
I'm happy to see Mariah's sale projections, quick question. I'm purchasing one or two physical copies tomorrow. I pre saved the album on Spotify, but I'm wondering how do I make sure I'm streaming the album as a whole and not just a single or song from the album? As long as the album is saved can I skip around songs or will that effect the album streaming count? Sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure I'm boosting her album and not just particular songs. Thanks.

Re: Caution next single should be? (86,252) (86,254) by Tevin from USA
B I was thinking a bit of the same thing for the video, but add stella and crew robbing Mariah's home, while Mariah pops up on the tv and video monitors and begin singing the song, while the cops show up. The island scene would be great, she can even do beach side chair choreography like Dua Lipa in her No Rules video. So many ideas lol.

Re: With You on GMA (86,229) (86,234) by Tevin from USA
I thought she did great, looked great also. Does anyone know if she performed more than one song? Also even though it was 99% live, that mic placement had me dying laughing. I'm like come on Mariah you using the mic to hide possible lipsyncing? Lol. Next she will pull a Sia and just sing from behind a wall, for artistic purposes of course. I kid I kid lol.

Runway (86,083) by Tevin from USA
Still playing this song non stop. I love it. I wish this was on the US version. I put this as my second or third favorite from the album, behind A No No, and Portraits.

I still can't believe Mariah and Skrillex worked together. Also on a side note, somebody find Stella and demand the demo tape back.

Also I hope when Mariah sings Portraits live she either mixes it somehow with Petals, or she goes crazy vocally at the end, with how it should sound if she didn't hold back. (One can dream right?) Lol.

Edward can I get Runway also? tevin_eubanks@yahoo.com. Thanks. I downloaded a link earlier, turned out to be a fake, probably got a virus now, but totally worth it lol.

Caution review (86,028) by Tevin from USA
I love it. Yes I wish there were more in your face vocal moments (like at the end of Portraits, I wish she would have let loose lol), but overall it was a great body of work. It sounds like a Mariah album and it definitely sounds fresh a current. (Like the extended ending to GML, sounds like a Drake or Chance The R song.) I love the vibe and feel of this album.

For those saying they wanted a more upbeat in your face album, to be honest this time of year I don't think that would work. It's fall/winter and this is a perfect laid back groove album to listen to.

Highlights: Portraits, sounds like an updated version of Petals.

Stay Love You L: Early 2000s throwback sound.

Love hearing Mariah's low and mid range voice. The harmonies was good.

Lowlights: Her higher belts sounded a bit strained, nasal and forced, I'm a bit worried that if its sounded like that after production and editing and perfecting, she must be going through something with her voice right now (think Rainbow era problems). Hopefully she can get whatever is happening negatively to her voice in check.

Song ranks
1. A No No
2. Caution
3. SLLY
4. Portraits
5. Giving Me Life

P.S. Don't hate me but I do not like One Mo Gen. All in all it's a great reintroduction to the GP for Mariah. 4.5 out of 5.

Glitter Day (85,997) by Tevin from USA
So for now on Nov 15th should be deemed National Glitter Day.
P.S. One more hour until Caution drops.

Japan why (85,730) by Tevin from USA
Hello, just curious why does Japan get a bonus track and no one else? Granted I know it will find its way on YouTube.

Re: Bipolar and vocal issues (85,650) (85,655) by Tevin from USA
Lexing, I agree. I've seen a thyroid issue almost completely destroy my aunt's beautiful voice. It's sad how stuff can turn out. But it still doesn't change the fact that Mariah could probably still make life choice changes to improve her voice (put the wine down Mariah), especially when we are working and forking over money to see her actually sing.

Loving this era (85,493) by Tevin from USA
I'm loving how her team is handling this album release. Success or no success at least they are trying and doing things more out of the box.

Here's the thing, I love Mariah like we all do. But you can't deny that Mariah was a studio made machine or should I say an industry made machine. The only difference was Mariah used to be able to back her vocal ability up, even surpass them at times singing live. Here's why it's been a sham: Like mostly all singers what they lay down in the studio is perfection, at least based off their own vocals because of digital editing and auto tune ect. It's like the model in magazines that you see them on a cover, but you see them in person, and they still look good but they usually look normal because you can't edit them in real life lol. Any singer, Mariah included, could piece meal a track together. Mariah was just able to replicate it live. Sony messed her up because they dubbed to kingdom come a lot of Mariah's performances. Shoot even (which I was a bit disappointed) songs on MTV unplugged was song three times and dubbed together. Not saying she sounded bad, I fact a lot of her undubbed performances I think she sounds better and more natural in. The problem is the fact that it created a perfect performance from a perfect performer for the general public (who may not have went to her concert) especially since up until 2003 Mariah didn't do long concert stints like most Artist. Cue the tin foil hats: My theory is that even though we all know Mariah had vocal troubles in 97, its interesting to see that her live performances started showing flaws, like they weren't dubbed to perfection like earlier ones, did not having Tommy's backing anymore contribute to this? Without YouTube like today most people here in the US when not have heard a few performances where she was sick or having vocal trouble like her performance of emotions in Milan in 91 I believe. Ok back to reality. Basically what I'm saying is, if we had the technology like cell phones and YouTube back then. Mariah still would have been amazing and still lauded as (to me) the best vocalist ever, but her singing would have been more real. (Listen to the 95 hero at MSG undubbed, vs the dubbed version, when they made the climax with her airy voice, which she didn't fully perfect till a year later). Not saying it was her fault, mostly Sony's, but later on 97+ she was forced to keep up this "perfect" singing image even when having vocal troubles and not taking proper care of her voice anymore. To me the most real vocal eras we had was Mariah Carey, Emotions and Daydream. So let me make it clear, I'm not in anyway denying or taking away Mariah's credits or her vocal abilities, they are or at least were there. It's just I feel bad that it seems like she became a victim of perfect vocal perfection that Tommy and Sony wanted to create and did, and when she didn't have there backing anymore she had to find a way to keep up the facade with smoke and mirrors. But I still love her and can't wait to see her in Detroit. Like RJ said, she still has or had the best voice that I have ever heard. Whitney and Celine could impress me and blow me away, but Mariah's is the only voice that could make me teary and cry.

Please read, why I love Mariah (85,130) by Tevin from USA
So it's been a pretty stressful year for my family, with a couple bad things happening. Anyway I literally walk into the house and my dad has With You blasting, my moms holding and dancing with my newborn cousin, my brother listening and smiling, I immediately grab my little 4 year old sis and start dancing. See this is why I can never give up on Mariah. Literally the last few weeks have been stressful some arguing. But for that moment we forget all our stresses and anxieties and focus on the music. Only Mariah can do this. Thank you Mariah if you ever read this you're one of the things that we bond over in my family. From me riding in a car seat listening to ABMB and OSD to belting out WBT with my mom and dad, to taking a moment out of our stressful few months and helping us realize why we love each other and share a common bond. I love you Miss Mariah Carey.

Re: The Distance (85,055) (85,070) by Tevin from USA
I finally was able to hear the entire song. I love it 9 out of 10. The only thing I wished was different is, after Ty's rap verse, I wish Mariah resung the "dark days cold nights, late October" part, that part is so catchy and it would have helped the song flow better instead of jumping right to the climax. Anyway I'm really looking forward to this CD and era. Even if it's not a success (which I hope it will be) it's still refreshing to see a different Mariah. She listens to us, most of the songs are made with new or hot producers, the CD will only be 10 to 12 songs long. Good rollout and team behind her. Now she has to do what she does best and sing. The record company better promote this. Also can she release Migrate as a single? Lol.

Hello Tim: The Distance (85,050) by Tevin from USA
I love it. Only heard 20 seconds clip and it's already stuck in my head, my workmates are tired of me humming the same tune lol. If you would have told me one day Mariah would be working with skrillex, I would have laughed and said yeah right. This is hot. Also welcome Timothy.

One question, with all of Mariah's tours/Christmas stuff, I'm trying to figure out how she is going to be able to properly promote this.
