About Nikki from usa:

Re: Andrew (63,075) by Nikki from usa
Oh, no, no, Andrew. I did talk facts. In fact, the entire post about her cornering the market for Christmas was nothing but facts and conclusions derived from them. You simply ignored all of them to focus on one sentence that referenced astrology and was even prefaced with, "for those that are interested". What's worse is you didn't even get the sentence right. It's planet(s). Plural, Andrew. A "planet" isn't a "horoscope". Yes, a planet can be discombobulated. Uranus is discombobulated as the only planet that rotates on its side unlike the other planets that simply rotate on a tilt. Remember facts and not just random suppositions? You didn't include any facts in your reply. You made an assumption and gave an emotional response before feeling the need to lie down. Clearly, the sign of a factual academic. You truly have a dizzying intellect. Perhaps you should lie down because you're acting like a cranky Scorpio with a Gemini ascendant.

Someone's looking to corner the Christmas market (62,926) by Nikki from usa
Mariah has just uploaded her Christmas videos to Vevo. Both Joy To The World videos and her 1960's remake of AIWFCIY which will add to the overall views for the song this year. For those of you interested in this stuff, astrologically, Mariah's planets were discombobulated last year. This year she has her ducks in a row, so if she hauls ass she has a shot at the top spot from that standpoint. It kinda sucks how the Billboard Awards are now calculated just because Mariah really missed out on how much she'd have now if the criteria were the same from back in her day. However, maybe she can make a killing now with her Christmas and future music. Between her Christmas movie rerun, her lipstick, her promo, her views, her streams, and other plugs I'm looking forward to the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" track to finally take its rightful place at the top of the charts this year.

Re: Stacey (62,779) by Nikki from usa
Mariah never tried to upstage Aretha. In fact, she didn't ever sing until Aretha cued her to sing. Perhaps, you need to watch that again. Celine also tried to outsing the other 3 during Carole King's song and even sang Carole's part. They were going down the line, you could see Carole about to sing her part before Celine took over. It's about harmonizing as a group, not trying to upstage each other. Everyone seem to get that but Celine. The finale was Aretha's song and she went down the line with everyone and each of them had their moment. At the very end when Aretha was doing her vocalization, Celine chimed in at the last second, trying to sing the last note. The rest of the divas were harmonizing together while Celine tried to outsing everyone and took over other's parts.

Parallels between MC and Riri's career (62,778) by Nikki from usa
It is interesting how they both started racking up #1's and then had a year of releasing music where they struggled to hit the top spot. Mariah's being in '98 with Sweetheart and the two "Believe" songs. I'm aware My All rolled over into '98 and was a #1 hit for her, but then her next LP's releases didn't yield any. Riri had a straight string up until last year when "Seconds" and "Money" didn't hit high enough. Mariah came back in '99 and racked up 2 more and now Riri is trying for that second #1 in a row. Mariah was at 11 years before her fall and that's where Riri is now. A lot of people think she'll beat MC's record, but I really don't. I still think she could get 1 or 2 more, but I think that's where it will end. I see this going one of a few ways. Riri's brand is sexuality with a healthy dose of kink and the younger generation is less interested in that brand when an artist hits their 30's. I think we're already starting to see the effects of that. I see Rihanna becoming a top 10 artist like Ariana and then top 20 when she's in her late 30's. There's also the biological clock every woman hears begin to tick when she hits 30, so her priorities could change. She had a harder time of hitting the top spot, so her label will need to push her on her current momentum now that she's managed to hit it. They need to keep her going at a constant rate until the cash cow has been fully milked. That's draining in and of itself, which is why I think she only has 2-3 years left.

Re: Divas Live '98 (62,777) by Nikki from usa
I gotta back Bill up on that one. The "divas" consisting of MC, Celine, and I can't even remember the third one were all a parody on Saturday Night Live by their cast. That's a show depicting live music, which Mariah has done many times, while the rest of the show does funny skits that are made up or based off entertainers. Mariah's parody was her hot body - "I"m keeping an eye on my figure and so is every heterosexual male on the planet" was her shtick. Celine's was being "the greatest singer in the world" which she would constantly say and break out into song whenever the other two singers began talking. It was a constant parody that lasted 2 years after Divas Live came out. VH1 did a special on Divas for that year claiming Celine was trying to outsing Aretha on her own song. She was depicted as being very rude.

Re: success has many colors (62,720) by Nikki from usa
I fail to see how attaching yourself to any empire, which its sole purpose is to create money, is a sign of "passion". "Kathy Ireland" and "Jessica Simpson" don't perpetuate their businesses, the companies and teams they signed on with do. Just like Mariah's deal with Elizabeth Arden for her perfume empire. The leading ad-on comes up with ideas, does their part, and leaves it to the company to perpetuate and get it out there. If Mariah was simply after money she wouldn't be making TV movies with the Hallmark Channel. That's laughable. She'd be interested in making an empire. Last time I checked she gave us Triumphant and folks didn't like it. People claimed they wanted Mariah vocals and a piano. We got it, yet, more complaints. More whining ensued about a more mature album, she gave that too, and no one bought it. She gave out her old hits with something "different and new" like people claimed they wanted with Infinity. More complaining. Now, we're demonizing Mariah for getting involved with interests she's talked about for years because, apparently, she's doing too many things. Which has now been chalked up to greed. She gave 25 years, that's a quarter of a century, of giving us music. I think she's allowed to spend a few years dabbling in other hobbies without being labeled greedy just because you want new music right now. I don't know how anyone can take on 5 hats of a movie project, nearly doing it themselves, and call that not passionate. That's a lot of time and energy to devote to something you don't give a crap about. The big picture is certainly not being grasped when my whole point is these things are platforms to distribute new music from while the complaint is she's doing these things instead of pushing new music.

When success has many colors (62,665) by Nikki from usa
I don't know how "cheesy" having the most watched movie on the Hallmark channel is. I know it's successful and an opportunity. It's not a subject of "blame" if an enterprise doesn't go well unless there's actual sabotage involved. When it comes to the blame game there's 2 extremes on this board. The negative Nancies blame Mariah for everything that goes wrong. JD doesn't book Mariah any new appearances and doesn't have her roster filled to push her album or even after her album release, let's blame Mariah. Someone steals music from her which ruins her movie and she loses her job, well Mariah's being petty and ruining her own reputation by not braiding that girl's hair, isn't she? The over positive fans go the other way and blame everyone else. Sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't. Somethings require a group effort and if the group as a whole isn't giving their all then it fails. Mariah has already reached the pinnacle of success in music, so I don't blame her for wanting to try new things. This Hallmark deal gets her right in front of the 40 something crowd who buy a bulk of the albums these days, so I don't see that as a bad business move. Her lipstick and children's book last year helped her single reach #11. It has the potential to hit #1 this year. Labels are on their way out and Mariah's doing exactly what I always wanted her to do. She's branching out into other media platforms solo, so she can call her own shots. Whether it's a movie, a lipstick, a book, a perfume, a commercial, or a series they all can have a song attached. I think some of you are missing the big picture and the real opportunities here.

Mariah's World through WWHL (62,400) by Nikki from usa
What I got from Mariah's info is that her series is supposed to be behind the scenes showing all the work and moments that go into touring and being a celebrity. This isn't supposed to be a drama tearjerker look into her life. It's supposed to be the natural drama unfolding from putting a production together and I think this is going to be focused on her music, possibly as a vocalist as well. That's what I took from it. I actually think that's a good idea if that turns out to be the case. After reading some opinions on this board about her appearance on WWHL I was thinking Mariah somehow drastically changed. She didn't. She was very candid and had some funny moments and answered the questions. She wasn't very diva at all. Some people made it sound like she was being catty. Far from the truth. She wouldn't say anything nice or mean about Nicki. She basically said she wasn't going to avoid it, but she wasn't going to dwell on it either. That's diplomatic. I appreciate the candor and not being fake if you're truly not cool with someone. Mariah also praised Madonna, Britney, and Beyonce. I loved the bits she shared about creating WBT with the ending being a last minute add in because she was short on time with LA and his money people about to invade her space.

Why the feud won't go away (62,393) by Nikki from usa
Is because J.Lo keeps it alive. She originally played nice when she started AI and so did Mariah. MC stood up and clapped for J.Lo for her lipsynced barely dancing performance on AI. J.Lo got asked for her opinion on the whole Minaj thing and J.Lo intercepted talking about herself and how Mariah was mean to her a decade ago. That's how this whole thing got dredged up again. J.Lo threw more shade at Mariah after MC announced her residency. Then, J.Lo stated on Andy's show she'd rather watch Spears than Mariah and then again when she confirmed she's seen nearly every show in Vegas except for Mariah's. Just over a year ago, live in interview, J.Lo said she and Mariah never met. Yet, on Wendy, she claims they've met "many times" and Mariah's "forgetful". It wasn't reported on this site, but while Mariah was on tour J.Lo had a tweet that went viral after Mariah cancelled her Brussels concert. She claimed something along the lines of Mariah won't have to worry about continuing her tour because she won't be able to sell enough tickets anyway. After a few days J.Lo came out claiming it was false, it wasn't her, and someone was pulling some kind of prank or false identity. This is why Mariah's pic with a meet n' greet fan who brought and held the "I don't know her" sign gained such momentum. Contrary to what this board believes - I looked through Mariah's social media sites and this pic isn't on any of them. The only site I found with that pic was called "The Shade Room". Gossip columnists took the pic and story from that site. Mariah and her team didn't endorse it.

Re: M image (61,863) by Nikki from usa
Not even close. Mariah's social media pages are filled with J.Lo, Eminem, and Minaj fans. Especially, her instagram. That's not the "public". I don't have any respect for people who partake in hypocrisy. She's not your next door neighbor, she's a celebrity and part of that is putting on a show. You'd have a shorter list if you named all the female celebrities that haven't tried some form of lap dance. That's not MC's first attempt either, she had a similar routine for Fantasy where she bitch-slaps a guy after. Mariah keeps herself relatively private, so the media makes up its own stories. She doesn't even have to be around for it. Public perceptions of Mariah changes with the tide since there's very little real information about her. Even with publications like Gossip Cop pointing out the BS the BS remains and continues to circulate. MC's success and popularity have never been about her clothing style, it about her voice. The "public" has never been a fan of her clothes whether they're sexy or she looks like a pastor's wife. That is nothing more than something to complain about. The only thing the public ever cares about when it comes to Mariah is the status of her voice and her music. It's amazing how a hit song changes the tides every time.

Gay Icon (61,649) by Nikki from usa
The award is for promoting acceptance which Mariah has done. I'm kind of shocked by all the fans on here who don't think MC talking about her guncles for 15 years isn't support. Especially, since she kept saying Ernie and Mort co-raised her. She actively supported Obama who supported gay marriage. She even went to the Abbey, the gayest club ever, to party the night away with the ladies. Mariah did a special performance for club GAY. She went to the Out100 gala and gave a speech on behalf of Lee Daniels. She's the first person on the cover and interview for Turkey's first gay magazine. Not to mention featuring a gay couple in I Want To Know What Love Is and having a gay couple propose on stage at concert. She rallied on social media for anti bullying of gays back in 2010 and that article is on this website. That same year she also did an interview with The Advocate on gay acceptance and covered everything from gay friends to if her kids turned out gay since she was newly pregnant at the time. I'd say she's been pretty active in the gay community. I guess real truth and digging deep doesn't go hand in hand with the same lot who thinks respect is clothing apparel, huh?

R-E-S-P-E-C-T (61,535) by Nikki from usa
That word is due to many reasons, but in Mariah's case she has one problem the Prince's, Mary J's, and even Whitney's of the world don't. That would be someone else trying to take credit for all of their success. Mariah was originally promoted as a singer/songwriter/producer. By '93 this was laid to the wayside in favor of simply promoting her as a "singer". Mottola claimed hyphened artists were "fads" and this would be better for her career. In reality, it was better for Mottola and the label if he "created" her. After the juggernaut of Unplugged and the surprise success of I'll Be There the public had enthusiastically given MC a new niche. This is why Mottola went to such lengths micromanaging her. There's no reason why she couldn't be given credit for writing and producing her hit material, it would put her on the map. But, it was Mottola who wanted to be put on the map. He even deleted her own role in her success story. The fact she had other offers, he had to get into a bidding war with Warner Bros. for her, Mariah refusing to sign without a songwriter clause, and her creating and handing out demos like hot cakes were erased. Mariah became a starry eyed waif with a dream who was "lucky" Mottola found her and "made her" into a star. Mariah was viewed as a "kept woman" by the public, but in reality she was the one overseeing the construction of their mansion and paying for half of everything herself. She wasn't given full credit for breaking down genre barriers with her remixes or inventing hip-pop. This ideology of Mariah as a kept woman who was lucky he made her into a star still exists today with many members of this board and the general public. Mariah adds insult to injury by playing up the ditzy diva which only fuels that ideology. If she were to spend the next 3 years being very visual (no matter what she's wearing) talking about making music, showing clips of her playing the guitar and piano, and sharing her music expertise than this whole ideology would do a major 180 flip. She could very easily be viewed as the creative genius she is if she exposes that side of her on the regular.

The breast boob (61,532) by Nikki from usa
Remember kids it's not your achievements that count, the boundaries you've broken, the records you've set, the records you've broken, the people you've paved the way for, the work you've done, the people you inspired, the albums you've sold, or others you helped along the way it's only the clothes you wear that matter. Respect is clothing apparel. It has nothing to do with your actions or how you treat other people, much less your artistry. Ironically, Prince had a good chapter with his ass hanging out in what can only be described as glittering ass-less chaps for a look during a certain era. Interestingly, no one respected him any less or told him to cover up. They didn't think it took away from his music. No one told him he was a talented artist so he "didn't need to do that" or assume he wore it due to low self esteem. What were we all saying about sexism earlier?

Mariah's World (61,456) by Nikki from usa
After the debacle of Idol I was hoping Mariah would have her own show on TV. I'm thrilled about this and I think people are too concerned with Stella. Mariah's been showing behind-the-scenes footage since she came out. This isn't new. They can call it a "documentary" if they want, but I doubt this is a reality show. Most of Mariah's behind the scenes specials were done on E. in the past. She's been out of the major media public eye for 6 years now, save for Idol, and this is a great opportunity to be re-introduced to the music scene on her own terms. Mariah used to give us the behind the scenes stuff every few years. It's been awhile and I'm excited to see how things are for her and simply being Mariah in her own element.

Stella vs. Mariah (61,455) by Nikki from usa
I think people are giving Stella too much credit for MC's success. Mariah put those deals in place before Stella came on board and the success of her residency and Christmas projects were Mariah's efforts. What I don't think people understand is when you don't have a proper team in place then you wind up having to do those jobs yourself. 2014-15 Mariah was essentially her own manager, scheduler, negotiator, and finding her own next paycheck. That's on top of being a full time mom and still healing from an injury, which doesn't give her much time left to "be the artist" and take care of her vocals. Stella has been with her for over a year now and things didn't really start taking off for Mariah until the last few months. I think Mariah was getting to know Stella slowly and only handing over the reins little by little until she knew they were on the same page. Now, Stella's doing the full time job and getting the other team members in place so Mariah has been able to go back to being the artist and concentrate on her vocals. It remains to be seen if Stella and her family moved in with Mariah and cut off others close to MC for control. Stella's way of dealing with columnists leaves something to be desired. Or, if it was Mariah's idea and decided Stella wouldn't be out of her sight while Mariah established trust. It's too soon to tell.

Bianca / diet (61,357) by Nikki from usa
I recognize those foods - that's not a "protein" diet it's high fat and low carb. That is known to be one of the fastest diets to lose weight. It gets your body to start recognizing fat as a fuel source instead of carbs than starts chowing down on the rest of that fat stored up in your body. I was reading about that last month. The diet mainly consists of meat, vegetables, and dairy. She can have dry red wine too, which might actually help against some of that mucous forming dairy.
If Bianca is back then that means one thing. No more sexy shot videos like You're Mine or #Beautiful. She's back to storylines and this could be interesting. I liked the spy concept of Honey. It would be cool to do something along those lines with Bianca from an enemy camp. Or a longer version of the drag race from Boy.

Meet n' greet "scam" (61,168) by Nikki from usa
I do sometimes wonder if MC fans are even familiar with other artists. Most do charge huge globs of money for meet n' greets. Mariah has actually been one of the few that never did. However, with every artist and their mother signing up with LiveNation, which is quickly becoming a monopoly promoter, this could very well be contractual as the tour was a part of the deal. So, the packages would be too. I've seen meet n' greets that could cost up to 1-2 grand and all you get is a group photo with a bunch of other fans in the mix. I don't know how much it cost to go to her concert in Europe, but her residency in Vegas is still one of the cheapest available. Her nosebleed sections start at $50 while the front row is $250. Meanwhile, J. Lo's nosebleed section starts at $179 and her front row seats with meet n'greet packages can go up to $3,000. Just to give you an idea. This isn't the '90's anymore. Things are more expensive and artists' don't get paid for their music anymore even if they're lucky enough to get it heard.

Chickens are ash and unhatched (60,882) by Nikki from usa
I think people are getting too up in arms over trivial bits and pieces. When it comes to Mariah's World you're not going to know anything for real until it's aired. If the name being switched from Mariah's Squad to Mariah's World doesn't mean anything to you than let me help read in between the lines. This is about Mariah and she's the one running the show. She's not a dainty flower. She's an Aries from Long Island. I don't doubt the dictator will do whatever she can to show as much of her own blood in the series, but I also believe she has to work hard to make that an ongoing thing because Mariah is the star that calls the shots. I believe some fans are disillusioned. It's been 25 years and Mariah has never been taken seriously. MC enjoys being a girl and that's always been the case. She's been giving both fans and staff makeovers since '95. This is very standard stuff. I don't know how anyone can truly want a Mariah show, but then want her to "act" a certain way that's never been authentic to her. I'm sure MC will give all the moments good and bad for better or for worse. But, since she has a tendency to babble she might need a gist of a script and then adlib and flow from there. She knows her strengths and weaknesses. That's a good thing. Everything else is pretty standard where filmed shows are concerned.

Re: Adam (60,497) by Nikki from usa
I'd have to disagree, did you forget about her Charmbracelet tour? She wore a similar outfit in pink and white sparkles. J.Lo was still trying to be hip-pop back then. MC owned the circus glitter outfit before J.Lo began wearing them. More to the point MC was wearing a gown or two similar to this design earlier this year.

Morgan and the article said what? (60,420) by Nikki from usa
I'm still rolling from the "six months" thing. Mariah and Nick were married for 6 *years*. Are we just making things up as we go? Nick hooked up with Mariah because MC thought he was cute? That's funny, because I could've swore I saw Nick on shows throughout the years naming MC as his celebrity crush before Mariah knew who he was. More to the point, why can't Morgan help out with his sister's bills? When has he ever helped her? After all he's "independently wealthy" like Mariah is according to their father which is why he left $600,000 to Alison in his will. Sure, she blew through it in 2 years flat and was found hooking again by '05, but that's not the point. How did Alison afford to be in Hawaii? Where is that money coming from? Mariah's mother has no problem contacting Mariah and how come we haven't heard Morgan say anything about her? Is she by Alison's side? The only thing I don't get is if Morgan hasn't talked to MC in 2 years and MC has cut him out than there isn't a "refusal" to do anything she's simply not reading or accepting anything with their names on it. If Alison hasn't gone through with this surgery yet as these articles claim she needs it done and not had it done than there isn't a medical bill for it yet. Sounds like they're trying to get cash.

Docu-series not reality (60,405) by Nikki from usa
I'm no fan of reality shows and it's never sounded like Mariah is either. However, a documentary and a reality show are complete opposites. This seems to be one of those things where the media sticks to what it's used to talking about. Like when they kept calling "Glitter" a "biography" no matter how many times MC put it on blast that it wasn't about her life. The media is used to reality shows, but from what's been said this isn't one of those. Mariah's done behind the scenes before from one hour specials to simple extras from DVD's usually of tours. All artists have. This would be the first time someone's actually turned it into a series though. Following MC's schedule behind the scenes in Vegas and throughout her tour in Europe along with all the things that pop up organically on the regular as last minute obstacles could be really unique and insightful. However, if Stella turns this into another Being Bobby Brown or Britney Spears' Chaotic than I'll have to pass.

B you took the words right out of my mouth (60,288) by Nikki from usa
It does have those two written all over it. When MC was announced for idol J.Lo was all accommodating. Then, she got paid the highest ever while J.Lo's world tour was flopping and she started saying how MC was so mean to her back in the day. When J.Lo and her team first started talking of a residency they were trying to hype it up and pit her against Spears. Spears proved herself as a headliner and was starting to get comparisons to Dion (money-wise) after she was able to get a raise. J.Lo's people were talking her up as if she was going to get a more lucrative contract than Britney. Then, the next thing you know she was rejected outright for demanding too much money. It also turned out J.Lo's people went to Vegas looking for a deal instead of Vegas approaching her for one. Then, MC makes the announcement she's going to Vegas. Immediately, the press started comparing her to Spears and claimed MC would be paid about the same for less shows. The next time around J.Lo and her people didn't mention anything about her deal or how much she was going to be paid. Hint, hint. Instead, we're getting all this crap about J.Lo finding MC's Billboard performance "long" right before J.Lo announces her residency and after she starts it. So, it's interesting this article compared MC to J.Lo and Spears instead of Dion - the other diva who sings at the same locale. This just in: a world famous singer "only" has her voice as a draw. Would someone also inform that article writer that in a Vegas show "her people" aren't the ones selling the tickets. Vegas doesn't "give away" half their theaters to make their singers feel better.

The new Billboard rules (60,133) by Nikki from usa
Are weird as hell these days. I can't keep up with all the criteria and percentages. I know the streaming online counts for more than it used to. This would be a good time for MC to go back to her storyteller roots. I still want to see Mariah as a mermaid. In lieu of her gaming ad I am really interested in seeing Mariah in a dungeon and dragons kind of storyline. That would get views, if only for people scratching their heads and going WTF? It's been over a decade now, so I think it's safe for Mariah to return to her "formula" we haven't seen since Loverboy. There are some obscure cuts of her albums that I've been listening to which sound like they could be hits on the radio today. Wouldn't it be wild if her next #1 was due to an old song simply released to radio?

Re: M from UK and Mimi (60,132) by Nikki from usa
I hear you and thank you. I thought that comment was shady as hell too. Mimi, love, that wasn't directed at you specifically. Saying "you" is easier on a universal level than spelling out "general public", trying to remember the author of the article, or the 20 different commentators points I'm adding to. I did steal the diplomatic answer from your post because I thought that was a good point and I agree. I don't think MC hates J.Lo, I just don't think she has any respect for her after what she did and I doubt MC pays any attention to her at this point. You are right, both Irv Gotti and Ja Rule admitted to the theft in Vibe magazine.

Gotta say it (60,124) by Nikki from usa
If all J.Lo needs to do is smile and give a few excuses for you to buy it, then you'll pretty much be scammed all your life. Jennifer has a tendency to go for Mariah when she needs attention and she's always been very competitive. When Shakira's song easily overtook her own for FIFA, J.Lo was asked to end the show instead of starting it. J.Lo responded by making fun of Shakira on instagram. J.Lo was singing MC's praises at the beginning of Idol, but at the end of it she was complaining that Mariah was so "mean to her" and said "mean things about her" 10 years ago and didn't know why. To what do we owe that mood swing? She was attempting to jump on the Nicki vs. Mariah thing for some attention after the flop of her tour. By the way, that whole "texting" thing was clearly from an angle of someone sitting next to her. I'm sure that wasn't planned. Then, she goes on this same show to say she'd rather go to Britney's show than Mariah's because "she dances". J.Lo knows the host is a big Mariah fan, she's not stupid. This year J.Lo did indeed give a diplomatic answer, just not an honest one. She had time to watch everyone from Cher to Celine, but was too busy for Mariah's? She should've stuck with the "dancing" excuse, it was more honest. After all, MC isn't missing her and likes shows where the singer actually sings. Be real, J.Lo.
