About jaker20 from US: You Will Never Be MC

Re: Caution the title track (87,997) (88,002) by jaker20 from US
The album is Mimi's best in a long time and one of her most acclaimed. But none of these songs has any potential whatsoever to be a hit unless she remix with a featured artist, and a good remix it should be. That is just the truth.

Re: A No No ft Cardi, Lil Kim and Elliott (87,964) (87,976) by jaker20 from US
This song won't go anywhere if we get an album version. Let's be real, radio don't play her anymore and she really isn't cool anymore with the young kids. The only way this song will get noticed is a collab. I can do without Elliott to be honest though. But yeah she needs to up her art to get this song out there, because it's a great great song. But honestly I am not sure Mariah knows how to promote the album.

Next year should be fun when the Christmas tracking week period is longer. But she needs a unique promo to really push it all the way. Unique promo is the game right now. Not just another rendition. Some of the best and unique promos of AIWFCIY this decade: James Corden carpool karaoke; acapella with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots.

Re: Walter the retail relic (87,233) (87,249) by jaker20 from US
No, Mariah should ignore him. Walter probably can't believe that 20 years after their last collab, Mariah is still making great music and getting some of the best acclaim in her career. Mariah's longevity is insane, look at her Spotify streams. If it was up to Walter, Mariah's career would have ended in 1999 and singing the same ballads that nearly ended her voice. Call me crazy but I actually think Mariah's best music is yet to come in the next decades, because her ability to stay current is a talent in itself. Caution is just the beginning of this journey. If she can continue that level of quality, even with just good-to-ok sales, her legend status will continue to solidify. Because at the end of the day, it is about the music. And the fact that Walter is salty means Mariah should continue to collab with different talents and enrich and expand her artistic journey and not be stuck in a box like Walter. Look I absolutely love that era as much as the next lamb, but being stuck in that era is like being in a college frat or sorority and staying there. That was 25 years ago people, Mariah has many facets in her creativity.

And oh Merry Christmas.

Re: Walter (87,154) (87,157) by jaker20 from US
I do agree. I thought that some of the things he's saying isn't cute. Mariah has mentioned Walter in interviews but she doesnt have to all the time. She is after all the face of the voice and face of the song, apart from being the co-writer. I don't know why he's suddenly being too extra. And to be honest, I love that era but I'm glad Mariah has expanded her creative horizons since because, apart from probably Celine, most of her contemporaries have disappeared into oblivion. It's not always about success but keeping fresh creative juices flowing.

He is saying these things because he is not a performer, he doesn't go up there on stage to sell it and make his collaborators attached to his hips forever. Unfortunately, Walter really is a one trick pony, if you think about it. Mariah is a creative person, that's what she does, she creates things. She can't be in the same box Walter is trapped in forever. If its up to him, with his love for the big ballads and big voices, Mariah's career would have ended in 1999. Thankfully Mariah expanded her horizon and 18 years after their last collabs she is still making great music. So if anything Walter's passive aggressive comments is just him being salty about Mariah choosing and controlling the direction she wants to go, and getting success after their collabs.

Re: Jaker20 (87,136) (87,147) by jaker20 from US
"Walter A is full of shit. He is angry that since the Butterfly era MC has paid him dust."

See this is what I'm taking about. She's also paying Ariana dust because according to you guys she doesn't have to acknowledge her. How is that even a good thing? That's just how someone is projecting their insecurities, which in Mariah's case considering her legend status is just sad. Whether an artist is competition or is "just copying" Mariah should be above it all, because as someone who achieved enormous success and miles away in terms of talent, she is in fact above it all. But insecurity is never a good character, people see through it. Why not produce some of Ariana's songs or new talents like her, or write with young new talents? That's how you embrace competition. Gracefully. It helps you if you're genuinely not bothered by it. Look at how Madonna's fans trolled Lady Gaga and how the tables have turned since. Now look at how Julia Roberts produced JLo's romantic comedies at time when Roberts owned that genre. Apart from the fact that it made Julia very rich, she is rewarded for it. You all need to tone down your insecurities before it bites you back. Its not even good for Mariah's career anyway.

Re: Jaker20 (87,121) (87,124) by jaker20 from US
I didn't say she has to acknowledge her. I'm saying she should act gracefully when an new artist acknowledge her as influence. She is always shady. And to be frank, if I am on her place, I will completely, completely embrace Ariana. No question about it. Because if I am at that level I would not still be insecure. I mean look at your post, it reeks of insecurity because I didn't even mention Arian being as talented or as successful. Far from it, in fact, she can't and won't be able to touch Mariah's success. Even more reason why you're all so triggered by her. Insecurity is becoming Mariah's look, just read Walter Afanasieff's latest interview who is also bad mouthing her for the same reason. Mariah should focus on supporting new artists, that is good for her growth. Look at Kelly Clarkson who is inspiring new talents.

Re: Ariana (87,082) (87,120) by jaker20 from US
You all need to take a deep breathe and not show your insecurities. All artists are influenced by someone either known or unknown and Mariah and lambs should acknowledge it as such. Ariana is heavily influenced by Mariah. Mariah is already at an age where she should be securing her legacy and one good way of doing that is supporting newer and younger talents. Who knows maybe Ariana will become more successful someday. Lambs should be comfortable with that because Mariah is a legend in her own way. If Mariah wants to be back at the top of the charts, she should simply up her game and evolve. Look at Lady Gaga. But Mariah doesn't need to because she's already a legend. Being insecure is not a cute look. By the way Caution is her best creative effort since TEOM.

Re: Billboard's Woman of the Year (86,914) (86,922) by jaker20 from US
But Ariana has cited MC as one of her inspirations and influence. But Mariah never acknowledged her back. Mariah needs to be more supportive of these artists who cite her as influence and set aside petty stuff. That's what a true legend does. It will broaden her horizon.

Caution acclaim is better than sales (86,856) by jaker20 from US
I love that MC's getting some of the best reviews in a long time. In the end it's the music that people will remember. Imo, Caution is her best album since TEOM. I literally don't skip any song, it flows so smoothly.

Re: Justice for AIWFCIY (86,604) (86,626) by jaker20 from US
The song usually explodes on 24th and 25th. After the 25th, the song completely drops on all these charts. This year, Christmas the 25th is on a Tuesday. Sales and streaming starts on a Friday and ends on a Thursday, while airplay is Monday to Sunday. This means the song only has a chance for number 1 before the 24th and 25th. It's possible, but difficult. Next year it has an even stronger chance, which is appropriate since the song turns 25 next year. If we want it to go number on this year, we need to stream if big time. But I would like the song to top this year, that could help A No No remix.

Justice for AIWFCIY (86,565) by jaker20 from US
Hey guys the song is rising so fast, faster than ever. It definitely has a strong chance of out-peaking its top 5 peak last year. It's already number 7 on iTunes and it's still November. How did this song, arguably one of Mariah's most iconic, never reach number one? Maybe this year? You all need to start streaming it on Spotify, and hopefully casual listeners will discover Caution in the process. Can you imagine this song hitting number one? That kind of media buzz could spill into A No No. That thing is such a bop.

Re: A lengthy meditation on the album (86,306) (86,349) by jaker20 from US
Complaining about Mariah being fake for 20 years is kind of tragic. Maybe she wrote Portrait for people like you, sorry can't help it. But how are you not able to move on? You don't like most of her output after 1997 cause she's no longer the diva balladeer. That's the same person she wanted to get away from. Its a great era, but that's the past. If anything, she's truer to herself now. This is the first album where she embraces the current state of her voice and she's more urban than ever, somewhere in the middle and just the right combo imo, and career-wise, as somsone who's achieved everything, she has to decide if she will evolve. Besides we don't really know her, everything around her now influence her. She's getting great reviews, and that's great encouragement to someone who already achieved everything to keep going. She produced some great music here. This album proves she can adapt and her best is yet to come. Those not changing their style isn't integrity, its that they're just not capable of doing it. Ability to change is a strength not a weakness.

Re: A No No feat. Cardi B and Li'l Kim (86,288) (86,294) by jaker20 from US
This to me is the best Mariah effort since TEOM. The album definitely needs some high profile remix and ft. Even if the album doesn't top the charts, the tracks shouldn't go to waste. I hope she does some unexpected ft. collabs. I doubt she can get Sheeran but how about Drake returning the favor?

Re: Sales (86,289) (86,293) by jaker20 from US
Stream it and let the whole album loop overnight. Then on YouTube play the whole album and just let it loop all day or night. Fanbases do that in the streaming era. I know lambs doesn't have to but streaming is just as important if not more.

I put it on repeat while streaming at night when I'm sleeping.

Glitter (85,965) by jaker20 from US
Lambs are the most iconic fanbase eva lol. This is so unexpected. I just saw it now and I thought there's an iTunes glitch and I still don't know what's going on lol. And by the way, I love the album. The movie is awful but the album is a classic, lots of great songs, Loverboy is such a classic bop, the vocals are immaculate. So underrated.

The Voice Mariah should have been the Idol Mariah (85,656) by jaker20 from US
On The Voice she's nurturing and has so much wisdom and seem genuinely care about the contestants. I really like all the advise she gave. Maybe it's the environment of The Voice. In just two episodes I've seen the real Mariah and I like what I saw, as opposed to a full season of Mariah on Idol which I didn't like so much because it was mostly drama and not a lot of humanity.

Re: Voice appearance (85,459) (85,481) by jaker20 from US
I really loved Mariah here. Still the diva facade we already know but this is probably one of her most real moment. I really like her banter with Blake Shelton and really know how to work his charms with women. The advise she gave to the contestants were much much much better than the stuff she said on Idol, and she seem genuinely wanting them to succeed and do well. One of the advise she gave completely changed the impact of the song. It seems she give better feedback on the spot. i'm not even gonna address the comment about why she doesn't sing during the advise session, it's just so silly. She was able to communicate exactly what the contestant need to do, singing it actually lessen the impact of the advise. So you want Mariah to sing a line so she can prove she can still sing? Well that session was about her helping out not throwing celebrity around. Just a silly comment.

Re: Mariah: queen of the redo (84,818) (84,844) by jaker20 from US
Because she is insecure. Her art is a reflection of her. She tries to cover up what in her mind are imperfections. It's the same as her stage performance. She stands in the corner because she wants to be perceived as perfect. She lip because she wants her voice to be perceived as flawless. The truth is no one cares about this perfection if she puts on a show. I can handle flawed voice, even partial lipping if it means her putting an effort on the show, walking, connecting with fans, a production that seem like she actually joined choreography, anything. Same with her music. She spends so much time engineering her sound it ends up blah and mechanical, soulless, by-the-numbers. With You is classic Mariah, the structure is the same as 90% of her songs, the lyrics is about 90% of what she already sang. At her age, if she really has nothing to prove then be real and vulnerable. People like that. What happened to her 10 years of motherhood, her travels and experiences, the people she met, the downside of fame and fortune, etc? Does she has nothing new to say? What did she learn in 30 years other than another trials of teenage love? All these Mariah-legend is facade she's riding. I feel her art and creativity ended in Butterfly and TEOM was a fluke. Take Motolla out of the equation and there's really not much left.

Cute video (84,764) by jaker20 from US
Her acting is still cringe and some shots are weird. But it's probably her best video this decade. If her AMA performance was better, this era would have been getting better press and fans wouldn't be as grouchy. By the way the choreo of the AMA performance was fire. She owes Tanaka for making her look not cheap. I wish he can choreo something with her moving. I can forgive the partial lipping if she had at least put an effort learning how to walk, you know like a normal human being.
(Thursday 11 October 2018; 22:49)
Re: AMA choreography (84,726) (84,758) by jaker20 from US
Tanaka did that choreo? Then he's the real star here, the choreo and set design was beautiful. The only problem is Mariah's not moving. I'm sure he can choreo something fresh and cool around Mariah's basic walk. I can forgive partial lipping if she can create a nice show.
