About Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway: Been a fan since 1998, but love most of her music since her debut. Favorite album: "Butterfly" Favorite song: "Always Be My Baby"

Re: Original Music Box track listing (88,535) (88,539) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Totally agree. Everything Fades Away and Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen leaves you with very nice impressions of both albums. Those ending tracks makes you wanna play the album all over again immediately, or just put the last track on repeat.

Ok, and what is your suggestion then? She released the video and is currently on tour. You wanted her to be everywhere, not doing enough. What was the meaning of the message?

You seriously want to start this discussion, again? Is there more to explore? Is there still stuff to dissect? Are we all again going to give our opinions on what happened to Mariah's voice in 1998? Are you thinking this message through? I got exhausted just by reading it.

Re: Original Music Box track listing (88,529) (88,536) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Yes, when I first started to become a fan of Mariah in 1998, Daydream was the first album I bought besides Butterfly, and after that, Music Box. Everything Fades Away was my favourite Mariah song for the beginning years of my fandom.

It was so dreamy, always listened to it maybe twenty times in bed before going to sleep. The song induced such good feelings in my body.

Re: Original Music Box track listing (88,514) (88,527) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I didn't come with an explanation for why Americans who like the song do it, it was an explanation for why the Americans who don't like the song, don't like it.

You know, you can't use the same explanation for why some people like tall people to explain why some people like short people.

So, for the Americans who don't like EFA, it can be explained by cognitive dissonance. One of the reasons for why some Americans do like the song, might be that they don't have cognitive dissonance in this particular case. But further explanation I don't have for the time being.

How can she be everywhere if she's on tour? You rather she cancel the tour.

Re: Original Music Box track listing (88,506) (88,510) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
It's simple psychology really, cognitive dissonance. You tend to like what you have, because, why else would you have it? And since you are unable to get what you want, you mentally decrease its value so it's easier to accept that it's out of reach.

Re: Original Music Box track listing (88,500) (88,504) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Well, cudos to Andrew for writing a message I agree with, without being mean, but actually funny. People here from the US calling Everything Fades Away boring, have years of internalized bitternes since they almost had to wait for YouTube to exist before they could freely listen to the track. Everybody knows EFA is the most interesting song on the album.

A No No (88,398) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Ok, I guess I have to find coping mechanisms to filter Andrew's messages out of my system.

Loved the video.

Many here welcomed Andrew back. I for one, get's another reminder of how negative this board becomes with the arrival of the lost son. I'm taking a break from this board, not going to read endless rants about how bad Mariah is at her work.

Glitter (88,257) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I think it's so nice to see that Glitter is getting some love, and well deserved love. Love to see both Loverboy videos are on YouTube continuously. It almost took twenty years for Mariah and the rest of the public to see the masterpiece the soundtrack was.

Yes, the movie was awful, but the soundtrack was awesome, people were just too biased to see that.

Caution opening show (88,219) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Wow. Mariah managed to surprise us all, I think, by putting together a setlist that is better than anyone could have managed. I think her voice is good, not splendid. But I would have been satisfied had I been there.

I really don't care about Mariah's weight usually, but when you are going on a world tour as a superstar, I wish she could have been disiplined and stick to a diet. But then again, she might need some mood stabelizing medication when she has to stay focused for a long time, and that kind medicine makes you really hungry. And I also felt Mariah was a bit down energywise, she seemed happy and contempt, but she could have had a bit more energy. If she loses ten to twenty pounds, she will be more flexible, like she was during the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, I felt she looked spectacular then.

Anyway, the outfits were great, the setlist superb, loved the songs from the Glitter album, and the light show suited the show really well. Think she will get good reviews

Article: The 10 best concerts of the week (88,193) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
The most honest description of Mariah's career the last few years, but I like it.

Re: Gospel album (88,190) (88,192) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I totally agree. The whispery velvet voice Mariah also possesses, sounds great with jazz music. And the bit lower tone her voice is in now, but with tons of resonance, would have sound great in a climax of a song.

I really think it would have been a great career move, because then people will see she doesn't care about the charts or about money anymore, she does because of passion. I also think she would have garnered a different audience of adults who liked Mariah many years ago, but would think this is a welcoming change. I would sure be one of the first to buy it, I have been one of the last to buy Caution. I didn't even buy IAMTEC, but that is the only thing I miss from my Mariah collection.

Anyway, I really think Mariah should do a jazz album.

Re: Live ad libs (88,162) (88,166) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Haha. No, I do exactly the same. And when I'm with friends that I feel comfortable with, or with boyfriends I have got I in the past, I always run through the things Mariah says before and between songs. And I have particularly become a master of the things she says in the MSG concert. I always say at out loud when I'm home by myself.

When I went to high school, 1999-2002, just after the Glitter release, which I loved, and since I only became a fan in 1998, I don't think I really understood what down fall Glitter was, so I listened to it without a care in the world, I went on a car trip from Norway to Denmark with my boyfriend's brother. We were going to visit my boyfriend who lived in Denmark at the time. I brought Butterfly, Heartbreaker, #1's, and Glitter with me in the car. The brother is a musical conductor, so he didn't mind, I think he actually enjoyed it, and I sang along to every tune.

The brother said sometime after we had gotten to Denmark that he was impressed that I sang the song exactly like Mariah, haha.

Re: My absolute favorite Mariah song (88,128) (88,137) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Yes, Fantasy: At Madison Square Garden is the most cohesive live material that has ever been released by Mariah. It's the first concert with Mariah I ever bought, and I also have it on VHS, but also DVD. One time I just bought ten copies of the DVD version, and gave it as presents to family and friends, even though none of them are particularly intrested in Mariah. The concert at Toky Dome might be better, but it's something with the production of the MSG one that is so good.

I actually had the concert from Tokyo Dome in DVD before it was available to the general public. I know a famous music journalist who works for the national brodcasting network here in Norway, NRK, and he gave a copy that belonged to NRK to me before it was released in the early 00's. I remember I was so proud as a Mariah fan to own that, a treasure. Now it's not special to have it, I have bought a couple of DVD's that has been released, but I still have it, it is just a blank DVD inside a CD cover with the songs handwritten by some one who worked at NRK.

My absolute favorite Mariah song (88,108) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
The one song of Mariah Carey that I always goes back to, the one I in fact have listened to at least every third day for over ten years. That song I have always been in the need to listen to every time my mood have been bad, but also when my mood has been great, or even mediocre sometimes.

That is "Make it Happen" live at Madison Square Garden from the time they recorded it as a release in 1995 or 1996. I know that it is dubbed, but if you listen to the undubbed version you can find on YouTube, it isn't bad at all live, and galaxies far from Mariah's present vocal state. But it is something with the production of the dubbed version that I really enjoy, and, come on, Mariah also sing the dubbed version, so what's really the difference?

I just think it is a nice illusion that always gives me the chill, and is pretty much the song that has helped me through life.

Re: My Caution world tour set list (88,091) (88,092) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I agree with you that her old set lists are repetitive, but I have only seen Mariah two times, and when I pay to see her, I would like some, actually quiet a few, of the oldies, because they are the one that brings back the nostalgia. The audience also tends to be very diverse, so many are the to hear Hero, Always Be My Baby, Without You and We Belong Together.

I like if she sang four to five songs from Caution, but I also would like to hear some of the songs I grew up with. Either way, I like your set list, but I like it better a bit differently.

J Lo debate (88,043) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I think we can agree that Jennifer obviously has talents, you don't become a global superstar for decades if not. But Mariah has a more natural born given talent that impresses. I think this debate started after frustration over lack of promotion for Caution, and we are all anxiously awaiting the "The No No" remix.

Let's give JLo a break, and let's all start to get exited for the upcoming tour and single release.

Caution (87,981) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I actually haven't bought Caution until now. So pleased to get it in the mail, and I can finally listen to the album the old way. But I am a bit disappointed that the pictures in the booklet are so underwhelming, I thought there would be more fun pictures.
But, the music is the important thing, and I'm listening to Caution right now.

Re: One Child live 2018 (87,965) (87,967) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
That clip gave me the chills. Look, people here can say whatever they want about Mariah not being able to hit the high notes anymore, but that litte segment shows Mariah's musicality. Does anybody else just sing some tunes and make it this beautiful to listen to? It's hard to explain why exactly I so much love to listen to Mariah sing, but with that litte clip you can be sure Mariah could sing the phone book and you would still be touched. Just look at the back up singers in the background, they are just smiling, mesmerized, just like me watching this. Mariah's voice has that x factor you only can feel within your body.
