Carla (39,415) by Stacey from USA I agree 100% with your last post. Well written. Let's give it a chance. It might be ok. JD definitely has no problem telling MC "no" and that is what she needs. It's what any artist needs. Too many "yes" people around you is not good. You need someone strong enough willing to stand up and say "no, let's try this direction". As talented as MC is, she isn't right all the time. And she can stand up to JD if her idea is indeed really good and needs to be heard. I'm inclined to think it might work. We'll see. Dupri and MC (39,393) by Stacey from USA I'm willing to see this one out before making a judgement. Randy is a great guy, and no doubt knows the music business, but JD has worked closely with Mariah musically for years, producing some amazing songs. So, I'm inclined to say let's give it a chance. My only reservation is MC needs people around her willing to say "no". JD has done that in the past. He's the one who insisted WBT be sung with full voice vocals. I remember reading somewhere MC wanted the whisper and JD said no. If that's the case, then maybe him managing her will be a good thing. Only time will tell. (Thursday 3 October 2013; 19:57)

If the current topic bugs you, make a conscious choice to ignore it. The other alternative is to start a new topic. Honestly, I don't understand why some let the little things bother them. Chill. Wow / The Beautiful Ones (39,262) by Stacey from USA I didn't mean to spark such a controversy, lol. Normally I am of the same opinion. The Coen brothers tried to remake True Grit and no one in my opinion can take the place of John Wayne. Only one Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh when it comes to gone with the wind. Can't touch Aretha, MJ, etc. Yet sometimes on the rare, rare, rare occasion it can happen. If anything I think MC's remake comes very close. I think the soft start to the play off each other rants at the end between MC and Sisqo fulfills that emotional need for me. But to each their own. It's still a great song no matter which version you prefer. (Friday 13 September 2013; 18:09)

More in studio pics / The Beautiful Ones (39,251) by Stacey from USA More studio pics from MC. *sigh* I am willing to wait for good music, but she is pulling my heart strings right now. Maybe it's the pregnancy, lol. Who knows? I just need some MC music to play, lol. I don't know why, but I have had this song running through my head constantly lately. It's never been one of those "go to" songs I love, but for some reason lately I've developed a new appreciation for it. From the slowed infectious beat to the masterful play between Sisqo and MC at the end is just perfect. Sorry, but this is one song where I think Mariah outdid Prince and that is almost impossible to do most times. (Thursday 12 September 2013; 21:56)

Will (39,217) by Stacey from USA I agree. I just heard Celine's new song and I have to say I really like it. The bridge is a bit messy to me, but maybe will grow on me with time. I especially loved the note before the end note on the line "loved me back to life". I don't know if I make any sense. The chord just strikes me as perfect. Anyway, MC needs to look back at Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, TEOM, and E=MC to figure out a formula that works. Why were those albums successful? Know what I mean? Anyway, if I have to wait for MC, Celine is a nice way to go. (Thursday 5 September 2013; 22:35)

Favorite album (39,063) by Stacey from USA Well, obviously my favorite album is Daydream. No suprise there, lol. It has something for everyone. Same goes with TEOM and Butterfly. As for my least favorite albums, that has to be CB and Memoirs. Both albums have such a similar sound all throughout, especially MOAIA. When an entire album is produced by the same people, it just got boring for me after a few songs. When an entire album embraces the same whisper vocals, I loose interest no matter how powerful the lyrics are. If the vocals don't match the lyrics, it bugs me. Of course on each of those two albums, there are a few songs I like. However, as a whole, I can't remember the last time I listened to them. (Wednesday 21 August 2013; 20:33)

Meriweatherc86 / Stephen (38,931) by Stacey from USA Just goes to show how talented Mariah is that she can put out a greatest hits album after only 10 years in the biz. I thought she missed a huge opportunity with the remix album. There are so many amazing rare remixes out there that many fans I doubt have heard that should have been included. I hope she does some sort of special release someday where she can release all her songs to her fans. She says she loves us and I don't doubt that. That kind of a release would really prove it. Over Christmas I thought about being done, but couldn't shake that feeling there was one more. Of course I get pregnant first time out of the gate so I think that's more of a reason it was meant to be. MC better get it together so I have some music to listen to while feeding the baby, lol. Special K / Stephen (38,872) by Stacey from USA Girl, you crack me up. Welcome to parenthood. I am sure MC and Nick have had those moments too. Kids, you gots to love them. Did I tell you I'm expecting my 3rd child? A boy and yes, we are done after this one, lol. You are totally right, Stephen. Daydream just gets it right on all fronts. Ariana Grande / Daydream (38,844) by Stacey from USA For Ariana to have a long lasting career, she has to find her own style. Copying someone else's style will only get you so far. The reason MC, Celine, and Whitney have done so well was because their styles and voices were so different, original. MC came onto the scene and people stopped in their tracks asking, "Who is that?" Trust me, I had the same reaction the first time I heard her voice. I agree with everything said about Daydream. It's why that album is a part of my email address, etc. Plus, I love to "daydream" as well, if I can get a few minutes away from my kids, lol. The album is superb because it is such a perfect balance between pop and R&B. Those of us older fans who love her earlier work 90-93, the more sugary stuff, still have those types of songs on Daydream, but with a bit more R&B flare that R&B fans can appreciate. Know what I mean? I think it's why I love TEOM so much. There again is that perfect balance between pop and R&B that so many people can listen to. (Monday 29 July 2013; 22:54)

Only MC knows if she has made taking care of her voice a top priority or not. Audio files of MLB concert (38,698) by Stacey from USA I would love some mp3s of the songs sung, especially Looking In. Man, there is no way she forgot the lyrics. Watch the up close video on MDJ and I'm telling you that was simply her getting caught up remembering a tough time in her life. Ok I said that already, sorry. Looking In (38,697) by Stacey from USA That song is the personal anthem of mine. I'm not a fan of the softer vocals, but for that song, it fits it so well. It's probably in my top 5 favorite songs by MC. When a song affects you so much as that song does, it's understandable she would get caught up in an emotional moment and forget the lyrics. That song was such a powerful statement of what she was going through at the time. It's no surprise it was the last song on the album. It left people with a sad taste in their mouths because MC was very sad at the time. So happy to see her sing it live. Dream come true. Priceless. (Tuesday 16 July 2013; 2:17)

You'd be right if there was an album to be released, lol. Right now, we have no set date. Thanks for the chuckle, though. I can't wait to see how she'll decorate the sling. On a side note, there is a YouTube video showing MC singing "Underneath the Stars" in between AI takes and man does she sound amazing. I wish she'd get over this stage fright, whatever it is and just sing live. She still has it. enwar00, it's nice when you can discover new songs you forgot about. MC has such an amazing catalog of songs. Gilbert, I don't think too much about illuminati conspiracies, etc. It was clear MC has a love of R&B from the very beginning and fought to incorporate more of that in her music. Gilbert (38,635) by Stacey from USA MC going to "R&B" has its roots all the way back to Everything Fades Away and Do You Think Of Me, B-sides not being placed on the USA edition of Music Box. Sony wanted her to maintain a certain appearance and MC was pushing against that. It's why they fought her on the ODB addition to Fantasy. It's very possible that's why they didn't want the song on the album, which is funny because the songs they did include on Daydream are very R&B to begin with. I personally love Slipping Away. It has such an infectious beat and her vocals sound amazing. Another song I've rediscovered is from an album I mostly dislike: Angels Cry. What a great song with amazing vocals.
