About Mara from United States: I'm a Mariah fan since the debut. Been through her entire career with her and may not always agree with every single thing she does, But i will always come to her defense when she gets attacked for being misunderstood. I am not a blind fan and relate Mariah to a sister who I would tell in a minute if something seems wrong or something of that nature. I come to this board to discuss her with people who I feel are true fans and yes, some don't always praise her to the heavens every single moment but we all are here for the same reason and we do adore her.

Great post RJ.

Re: Sit your ... down (85,451) (85,464) by Mara from United States
Perfectly said enwar. I have yet to hear a voice anything close to Mariah from the 90's through 00's to this day. Her texture, low deep notes, whistles, high octives, layering, whispering, buttery full voice. There are some current singers that may have one or two of those characteristics, not one of them have all. That's why Mariah will always be known as the best vocalist along with Whitney. She has already stamped her legacy. One way or another her voice produced songs like ATYNAF and Til The End Of Time, Melt Away, to the euphoric Underneath The Stars and of course All I Want For Christmas and I can go on and on.

Caution tour (85,416) by Mara from United States
So did anyone get tickets to the show? I grabbed The Sands which as of now is the last date (she could always add dates) and I got tickets in second row to the Hard Rock Atlantic City show. I have to say I was a little disappointed in how the HoneyBFly ticket presale was done. I was upped to Legacy status so I was able to try at 10am as opposed to 11 and I was checking and checking and the best I saw even up to the 11am I grabbed because I was afraid it was the best I was going to get. However "after" I bought those, they released front row tickets right side and at that point I had already got what I thought was the best we were going to get. At that point your tickets are non refundable or even available for an upgrade, which was orders from Mariah's people not Ticketmaster or the vendor. Just sad that it was like that. I was just trying to upgrade what I had, not cancel but it wasn't allowed. We managed better seats in AC so it's all good. But it would have been amazing to have front row seats and the cost wasn't that much more sadly than what I paid for an "aisle special seat made available" by the performer and team. I'm just grateful to be seeing her again am doing on a new tour. But I was a little disappointed how the tickets were released.

The Distance (85,046) by Mara from United States
Love this song. It is very current and yet Mariah at the same time. She flows nicely with Ty. The one part of the song where she repeats her lyrics even reminds me of one Halsey song and that is who the younger audiences listen to now. I love that she is mixing it up. Tanaka is getting a lot of love so far on this album. He must be loving it. Can you imagine Mariah Carey putting out songs for you? I love the way her vocals flow and soar over the beat when she sings "the distaaaance". So breezy, this one has replay appeal. Welcome to Timothy and glad after all these years you decided to post. If only Mariah would do some Christmas shows in NYC, all would be complete

Re: AMA choreography (84,785) (84,795) by Mara from United States
May, I thought about the corset thing too. Only thing I can think, but only pertaining to the AMA performance is it prob helped with her standing completely still. Mariah is a master at that. She literally was statuesque. He leg was posed and she literally was like one of those Barbie dolls on her stand. Maybe the corset helps with posture. Whatever the reason, for that performance it worked. I would have been fidgeting and damn near falling over. The invisible chair moment comes to mind too, her balance is incredible.

The video (84,749) by Mara from United States
I think the video is classy and stunning. Those scenes where she is walking in Hollywood, she looks so beautiful and better than half that are in the game right now. I thought the point of the video was just her reflecting on how she is in love. She was alone, looking beautiful of course, it not overly touchy and over the top. It came off genuine. The shots of her with her hair slicked back was so natural like she was getting ready and just thinking about how happy she is. The vulnerable parts where she sings "promise that you'll keep me warm" was conveyed genuinely. I think the background scenes were classy and it was directed very well. Perhaps she didn't want to put a love interest in since the videos with Nick. I loved it and Mariah that smokey eye makeup was on point. Love that she is stepping out of her comfort zone a bit, from showing her what she considers bad side on single, to wearing darker lipstick. The video I think will help the song and this one at least that has replay value because there is so many different shots. Love the hairbrush moment too. Well done Mariah and keep this female video producer.

Re: "Fan" reactions (84,244) (84,254) by Mara from United States
Ugh, Andrew - aren't you the least bit excited about the start of a new era or are you that soured about MC? What kind of kick start would it take for you to be supportive or have faith again? Serious question. Also, I cannot speak for everyone else here, but I feel it kind of is important with who MC writes her songs about, making it more personal and meaningful to her as in what is going on in her life right now. It's like a mini diary, and as a fan since debut Mariah, that used to be the only way we could get into her head or know what she was thinking as she used to be incredibly private. Minus the horrible nightmare years, Mariah never got too personal as you know. So it kind of always was an interest of mine to try and figure out if the song was autobiographical. Just my thing. Not yours? I totally respect that. But I'm just curious, honestly as to what she has to do to make you a happy fan/lamb right now. I am just happy to be getting a full album of new material from the woman who has had a song for every moment in my life.

Re: With You (84,233) (84,240) by Mara from United States
B, that is exactly the feeling I got too. Def about the "almost Packer vows" and not the ones she actually "took" with Tommy. I think it's about Tanaka. Sorry I meant I agree with Sheez.

Big Jim (84,144) by Mara from United States
Very sad news to hear of the passing of Big Jim. I was able to meet Jim in the lobby at one of the Beacon Christmas shows. He was very nice and humble and was patient with my sister and I along with another fan and took some pics. I told him how one of my favorite songs will always be Fly Like A Bird. I hope he and MC were at least able to talk, I know it must have affected him no longer being alongside MC anymore. Just a sad loss, I know he just had a new son born not that long ago. RIP Jim.

Re: Beacon shows (83,609) (83,619) by Mara from United States
I'm hoping they are added. I honestly hate that she makes the US fans wait this long for the release of the NY dates. I just want to plan and know when I am going. I've gone to every year but I missed last years show due to being out of town and am in desperate need of getting out to NY to see the show. It's always late October before they are announced out here.

VMA'S (83,446) by Mara from United States
The homage from JLo to Tommy was interesting. I didn't watch but saw the clips on instagram. Thoughts of Glitter popped in my head. Hoping MC releases something good soon and glad she paid the VMA'S no mind with her pics in the studio. I think we are all thirsty for new MC music. Interesting how Thou that shall not be named has been vacationing at MC's fav places including the "grotto", and then a radar Tanaka story. Such spitefullness. Glad MC is in the Bahamas in a yacht enjoying life with family and friends before the Vegas shows and hopefully the album or single release. She needs to show the Arianna's and Jlowwws who started it all. Please MC and also, please please please why the wait on the Beacon release dates? I would love to plan and have something to look forward to right now. They will sell, please release the Beacon dates.

Re: Angel's Advocate tour (82,475) (82,478) by Mara from United States
Robert-Anthony, I went to the Angels Advocate tour and remember how strong she sounded, especially during Make It Happen. I loved her entrance on that swing and how she looked like a real life princess in her entrance. What I hated about the tour was the horrible cheap, low budget stage. I remember how strange the stage was, being built up with this incredibly ugly looking door that was an entrance to back stage front and center. I just remember how cheap it looked for someone of Mariah Carey's stature. The dancing was kind of unprofessional looking too. That is really what ruined it for me. Other than the opening dress, the rest were not the most flattering either. After seeing MC live on the Charmbraclet tour and Adventures of Mimi tour, this just lacked for me. Her live vocals were great, but the rest kind of ruined the whole experience as a whole. I loved that she did a lot of songs off of Memoirs though, especially HATE U. I don't mean to sound shallow and certainly hope I don't come off that way. I just always felt that tour didn't work for me as a complete package. But yes, her live vocals were full.

Maxwell, yes. There were rumors about that a few years ago. He tweeted something alluding to a possible song already done or in the works. Still wonder whatever happened to that.

Re: Allure (82,360) Jamie Theakston (82,363) (82,369) by Mara from United States
Always loved their interviews together and the flirty banter between them. Jamie brought out a side of Mariah that relaxed her and was playful. There definitely was an attraction there, on both sides. I do remember the Memior interview they did when they both were married and he had children. It almost sounded like two past loves that both moved on. I do wish they would reunite for another interview if she is in and around where he is.

Re: Ruben sings Luther (82,249) (82,258) by Mara from United States
Thank you Deedre and Licia. It really was a great time and you are right, nobody out there does Luther like Ruben. There was a singer by the name of Abraham McDonald who won Oprah's Karaoke challenge years ago and he was incredible too. Sadly, he passed away this year.

New promo pics (82,248) by Mara from United States
This is exactly what we were asking for. Mariah simply posing with the retro microphone. Classy, elegant, iconic all splashed with simplicity. I am loving the glamourous look and pose minus the clunky diamon earrings and horrid necklace. The diamonds on her wrists are ok, but the too much over the top necklaces and earrings just age her. She looks amazing and so ready right now. Truly the butterfly is emerging once again from her cocoon.

Yes, seriously. This guy thinks because she wanted to meet him or asked him to an after party and he mentioned his girlfriend was a super Mariah fan, that he turned her down? Or that she was interested in him "more than just friends"? Gotta love it.

Ruben sings Luther (82,231) by Mara from United States
So a little off topic but wanted to share quickly. My sister has always been a huge Luther Vandross fan and missed her opportunity to see him live when he came to Atlantic City one time. She has always lived with that regret as something happened and she couldn't make that show. After he passed, that was all she ever said was I never got to see Luther. Well, Ruben Studdard (season 2 winner of American Idol) recently recorded an album doing all Luther songs and is supporting it with a tour as well. She always liked Ruben as he was always compared to the likes of Luther. I managed to get her front row meet and greet seats in Philly on Saturday for her birthday, and she finally got to at least hear these great Luther songs performed live. I have to say Ruben put on a phenomenal show. He had everything down to wardrobe, the band, background singers, all modeled after the great Luther Vandross. What a tribute. She was in heaven. Come to find later on that the legendary Patti LaBelle was also in attendance of the show. Not surprised as she and Luther were the best of friends. I wish I saw her to at least snap a pic. It was such a great night and if anyone here is a Luther fan and Ruben comes to your town, it is worth a ticket.

Vegas / album (82,228) by Mara from United States
Hmm, do we think it could be possible an album could coincide with the Vegas run? I have a feeling or maybe wishful thinking, that the album is closer than we think. I think creatively, she got a lot of ideas back and it built for good raw, material with all she had going on in her life. A lot to write about. Things just seem to be aligning up for her too, especially her inner self and her appearance has never been better. I think the new era should strike sooner than later and waiting until after Vegas, the overseas tour, then Christmas season is too long. I think it may be sooner than some are expecting. I adore the title "The Butterfly Returns". It's very iconic and fitting. Love the new advertising picture and thank God that awful lying down mess is gone. Never looked like an advertisement of a legend anyhow, especially in Vegas. I think she could benefit with promoting the show with a hot new single as summer is approaching, and since the show is revamped, new set/stage design, wardrobe, choreography, she can go on some big shows and promote with her new album. It might take the attention off of her on the bipolar announcement too since there is so much more to talk about, if she is not ready to really sit and talk about that since she kind of had to come out with it. Maybe she wasn't 100% ready but had to due to (Witchy woman) and that's why she chose the interview on paper rather televised. So much to think about, but with a lot going on.

Re: New album title (82,149) (82,152) by Mara from United States
Speaking of the Weekend, I still would love a darker haunting song from Mariah and him or just one with his stamp on it. I love Mariah and moody songs. She has the grit and different levels in her voice to put into a song like that.

It's like RainbowRiah came and emerged from that restaurant in 2018. And the hair? Wow, I love it. Not sure if it's just the lighting, but it looks more honey.

Re: (82,060) and (82,063) (82,120) (82,131) by Mara from United States
JD, I appreciate your post and giving light to the other side of things. I do realize M has gained a new set of fans/followers with a lot of her social media posts as of late. I totally see your perspective on that. It's refreshing that social media is opening people's eyes to the greatness of MC, and if that's what it takes to introduce the newer generation to a catalog such as MC's then that's great. I just hope they support her when she releases her newest material. But, I enjoyed reading your post so thank you.

Re: Damizza spills tea (81,858) (81,870) by Mara from United States
If my memory serves me correct, the incident the thirsty one is talking about was the second time M was hospitalized. The first time Pat called the ambulance and they took her to the hospital and then she went into a facility for a week or two and probably was diagnosed with BPD during that point. Hence the irratic behavior when he took her in the car. I can't imagine what she must have been feeling. At that point she must have known what would happen, I also think if she already had the diagnosis, that would be grounds for he and her pathetic brother to have the power for that. I don't know. All this talk about that time is incredibly depressing and bringing back all the feelings of worry and sadness we all had as fans back then. I can only imagine what she must be going through now. It must be hard on her coming forth and almost reliving, talking about that time she was originally diagnosed. She is such a strong woman. Her resilience is astonishing.
