About Mara from United States: I'm a Mariah fan since the debut. Been through her entire career with her and may not always agree with every single thing she does, But i will always come to her defense when she gets attacked for being misunderstood. I am not a blind fan and relate Mariah to a sister who I would tell in a minute if something seems wrong or something of that nature. I come to this board to discuss her with people who I feel are true fans and yes, some don't always praise her to the heavens every single moment but we all are here for the same reason and we do adore her.

Ha ha Special K, I was waiting for you to say something. Poor Tanaka got the short end of the stick this birthday with the People article breaking on his day. Those pictures were nice candids of them though. Happy b-lated to Tanaka.

Mariah - first off, we are all so very proud of you. What a courageous thing to do at this stage. You must feel liberated and that a big weight has finally been lifted off you. To be carrying that around all those years in secret, especially being too afraid to address it fearing being outed must have been so isolating. You are such a strong woman and any kind of mental illness, depression or anything for that matter is nothing to be ashamed of and can happen to anyone. Mental illness knows no class, race, sexual preference or whatever. Us fans who know you best always knew when you were going through something and we prayed for your health and well being all the time. I do think her breaking ties with the Russian clan has made her feel very vulnerable to a headline and she took this issue into her own hands on her time in her way. We are so proud of you Mariah and hope you pour it all into your next album. Make it therapeutic to you. Watching the performances of Hero wiping tears numerous times has totally taken on a new meaning.

Re: Videos (81,371) (81,378) by Mara from United States
I have heard the rumour that Thirsty was about Damizza but I personally think it has Nick written all over it. If you think about it, all of MIAM is a telling story about her marriage falling apart, so why would she break the formula and place a song about Damizza in the mix? I suppose anything is possible, just my two cents.

Sade (81,266) by Mara from United States
So I managed to listen to the new song by Sade before they removed it this morning. Seven years is a long time and it doesn't disappoint. It's called Flower Of The Universe and it's everything you would want from a Sade song. I just want to listen again in HQ and download it. Not sure when the soundtrack comes out. It should be soon. She is another artist on another level who just takes you somewhere with her music and unique voice. She is another one that is pure musical food for your soul good.

enwar00, you are right about Breathe Again and Long As I Can Live. I said SWD as in referencing that album era and how these new songs are taking me back to that, prob because it's one of my favorite songs on it. I should have been more clear.

Re: Toni Braxton - Long As I Live (80,918) (80,935) by Mara from United States
Yes to this. I downloaded Toni's second song the day it came out. I love it, and along with Deadwood, kept it on repeat for a while. I think that sounds like Babyface in the background too. Toni and Babyface go hand in hand like Elton John and a piano. If these two songs are any indication of the sound of Toni's new album, then it is indeed classic Toni and classic R&B and I love that sound. It is so easy to listen to and her voice is so smooth and sultry. Taking me back to Seven Whole Days sound. I love it.

Re: T4 music special (2009) (80,917) (80,934) by Mara from United States
MusicfanJ, I love your post and always agree with what you say. This is so true in every way. Living everyday life is hard enough sometimes, I can never imagine what it must be like living it with daily scrutiny and especially in this day of social media where things hit the internets before you can blink. At least in the 90's if something happened, you would only hear about it on the news that night or the following week in gossip magazines, then it was somewhat forgotten with the next headline. In today's age, it's online forever and imortalized in memes and twitterverse. God forbid your weight fluctuates, blink when the camera captures you, miss a note at a show, cough during a performance, have a bad day, have insane family members selling stories, go through a divorce, have a bad fashion day or two or year and lastly, be human and possibly have a health issue you may have to deal with. Whatever it may be, first and foremost they are still human. I joke with my family about Facebook and say "thank God it wasn't around when I was in high school" I think I would die if every single thing I did in high school was posted online. Not that it was horrible but I can only image how hard it is now for celebrities. Mariah, for all that she has been through, is one of the if not the strongest women in the business. She also happens to be my "thinspiration" at the moment with how amazing she is looking. If she can get back to looking this good at her age, then I can pull it off too.

Re: Can't Let Go (80,803) (80,813) by Mara from United States
Thank you RJJ12 for this. I never heard it before and it's like a little gift of new vocals that we would never get now. (No shade MC but it's true since she acts like CLG doesn't exist.) Going to move on but I agree with you that her debut album was about her vocal showcase with VOL and that Emotions the song was as well, but Can't Let Go is the song for me that really set her apart at that time from all the others. It had a feel unlike anything on the radio at the time and her whistle placements blew me away. It almost was hypnotic in a sort of way. I guess I can say although I was a fan since VOL and her Arsenio debut, it was CLG that connected me with her songs and style. Just would love to hear her sing it in its entirety one more time and not the way she chopped it up for the Adventures of Mimi tour. OK, sorry, moving on now.

Re: Can't Let Go (80,795) (80,799) by Mara from United States
Deedre, it's funny you should mention Love Takes Time. There is something similar in her deliverance in each of these bridges and listening to CLG last night and it put me in mind of LTT. I think I would be in heaven if I ever made it to the Vegas shows and heard her actually sing I Don't Wanna Cry, Someday and Love Takes Time. They certainly come across well live and you are right that there are many places she can take the song.

Can't Let Go (80,788) by Mara from United States
Was in an "Emotions" mood today and was listening again to one of my favorite Mariah songs ever "Can't Let Go". That song is so melodically beautiful and moody with her whistle placements to the George Michael like organ introduction to the deliverance of the bridge and how you can really feel what she is saying. I really don't know why Mariah pays this song no attention. I would be totally happy if she replaced VOL or My All for her "vocal performance" song of the night on tour in the future, not permanently but for a few dates or whatever. I think she can handle this song with her current voice and really make it come across well. It would be standout because even if there are actual people that don't recognize the song, the song is so beautiful that it speaks for itself and would stand out. I remember watching Mariah perform this song on live TV and she used to do this little sway with her hips and her hands would go and she couldn't help herself. I miss that little thing she used to do when she sang live. It just came out. Anyone know what I am talking about? Every CLG performance she did this. Then the mighty end with the head thrown back after the last note ending with that smile. Pure class act. There is nobody like her.

Studio (80,512) by Mara from United States
I have to agree that the famous studio pic doesn't excite me all that much. (Especially the wine MC, where is your tea and honey?) Of course, if this is it and she was in there recording a complete body of work and doing her signature layers now, I would be ecstatic. The problem is, I have a feeling she is starting over too and scratching whatever if any material she had before as she wants to be in the moment now and start new, so if that is where she is, we are in for another long process. I also wish she would save the studio pics, go under the radar and just, bang with a new single and be ready. It's hard not knowing where she is in her creative process, but let's hope this time she records an album all in the same voice. MIAM while a great album, had a choppy feel with her vocals in Beautiful, Cry, to Supernatural, OMT, BGK. You can tell she recorded it in between long stretches and MC's voice is too delicate to go months. So I kinda do feel that she has a better ethic now and basing off of how things are going and she looks amazing and I do think she is ready. MIAM she was going through a bad time. One thing I am grateful of though, she never had an album under Stella.

She was definitely another part of my growing up in the 90's as my alternative to Mariah. Zombie and Linger bring back so many memories, such a memorable voice. Very sad indeed.

Do we know when this is happening or any update on it? I love that M is truly getting this love from the industry and respect she so deserves and always wanted. I pray she looks classy and beautiful on the runway and keeps the Golden Globes restrained so to speak. I am loving what this Lorenzo is doing with her hair. It's the best it has looked in a long time. I wonder if he still works with Lopez since M is a client.

Re: NYE (80,220) (80,222) by Mara from United States
Andrew, Drew baby. Please don't be tryin' to be our MCA Grinch who stole our Christmas here. We are all in unison and the world is loving the redemption of Mimi. The courage she showed getting up there, knowing it was make or break was everything. She literally owes us nothing and already redeemed herself with how flawless the end of 2017 has become. Not saying it was, but even if the climax was lipped, did it matter? My teeth were shattering being in the cold to get into a car, let alone try and sing in weather that was single digits record breaking (second lowest NYE temp) and wind chill well below zero, all that and look beautiful doing it. Gotta give credit where credit is due and she deserves a hell of a lot of credit. Amazing how in every photo posted by the media, she looks flawless in every single one. That is a testament to her beauty. On a side note, I wonder if we will hear from Tommy? I'm sure she wanted to prove to him even though she already has, but I'm sure part of her wanted to send him a message too that she is better than last year. She has done it.

NYE (80,217) by Mara from United States
First off, can we appreciate the beauty that is Mariah Carey? Wow, she looked incredible. Her hair was amazing and she was glowing. This woman is 47 years old and literally looks in her early 30's. Also, wasn't it me or did she come on a little earlier than the 11:45 spot? I missed her introduction as I stepped away from the TV for a moment and boom I hear "treated me kind". I think the dryness def comes along with the frigid temp. VOL wasn't perfect, and her nerves were in full gear with that one in particular. I sensed how nervous she was when addressing the crowd about the tea. Hero, OK Mariah, you certainly shut all of us up. She knew what she should perform and Hero is one that in recent years I totally feel she sings to herself anymore, despite writing it with someone else in mind singing it. Her eyes were welling up at the end of it and she knew she did it. I am so proud of her and love how she chose to go back up there and end the year with closure especially after how it started. She is literally the strongest women I know and how amazing of a role model is she for Monroe and Roc for that matter, how you get back up and face your fears, get back up and try again. If Mariah can do it in front of millions of people across the world, we can do it for ourselves. God, I love this woman. And watching some of the instagram videos posted by her team, you can totally sense the elation on all of them since you know who is gone and how genuinely happy the mood really is. I loved seeing her with the kids and yes, Bryan too while NY was being played on TV. They totally looked amazed. I really hope we are in for an amazing year, we have all come a long way as a lamibly since last NYE.
