All this jazz about the "public" (63,510) by Lee from USA Oh please. If the "general public" really liked JLo over Mimi, then why does anything associated with JLo is almost always flopping? Nearly every movie that she starred in has flopped, even those with A-list co-stars. The only times that she's had a hit single is either with Pitbull (who should ditch her now), or by ripping off other artists. Every TV show of hers either had been canned or on the verge of being canned. That's why we should not lose sleep over a bunch of hypocrites. I agree, Mara (57,161) by Lee from USA She should get in on the first ballot. I mean, how many artists could say they have more number 1 hits than Elvis? How many artists could boast about topping the singles charts for 10 years straight and winning Song of the Decade twice? Her antics aren't half as bad as making porn, sleeping with kids, and abusing drugs (and significant others). Artists who've done worst had gotten in without any protest. Bet Awards (54,983) by Lee from USA I understand that we as black folks need our own awards shows. My gripe is that Mariah is not really that embraced by BET or any other black media outlets. How come that Whitney won a BET Honor and a Lifetime Achievement Awards, but Mimi just got a Bet Honor? How's that fair? They treat her like a mistress: loved in private, but ignored in public. It took Mariah 15 years to grace the cover of Essence whereas Mary J Blige was on the cover at least twice a year. The black media doesn't stick up for Mimi when she is in trouble as much as they do for MJ, Janet or Whitney. Two radio show hosts got suspended for poking fun at Whitney, but when it comes to Mimi being ridiculed, there's is no outrage, suspensions or terminations. Where's Al Sharpton? The NAACP? If that is not much, then I don't know what is. The woman put two platinum-selling singles without help from a label. BET Awards (54,963) by Lee from USA Guys, isn't it odd that Janet is getting an Ultimate Icon Award at the BET Awards, whereas our girl hasn't gotten anything at the Bet Awards? Janet haven't put a hit in nearly 15 years whereas Mimi put out more top 20 hits than her, Madge, Whitney, and Celine combined in the last 15 years. Hell, Mimi is the only black artist in history that ever scored more #1s than Elvis. The only time Janet has been relevant in this millennium is when her boob was exposed at the Super Bowl. But it is easy to be loved with Jay-Z as your husband and Al Sharpton and the NAACP in your back pocket. Everybody is scared to death of Jay-Z due to the fact he stabbed a dude and gotten off. Nobody wants to have Al Sharpton and a group of black folks picketing outside your business. Remember how TMZ called to Beyoncé as a "robo-ho"? How could they stand for excellence in music and yet induct artists who hasn't had hit songs in over 30 years? They may bring up her diva antics but her "antics" are nothing compared to marrying your 13 year old cousin, sleeping with your employees, making porn, and abusing drugs. I agree with a lot of you (47,334) by Lee from USA You shouldn't believe everything some critic says. Michael Bay doesn't and his movies make billions. It should matter what the fans say. I would like to see footage of fans walking out instead of reading about it. For all we know, the critics could have walked out by themselves and said that fans walked out. On another topic, I saw the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees, and thought WTF? How the hell that MC is not for induction but artists who haven't had a hit in decades are ushered in? Easy-E, a dope dealer, could get in as a part of NWA. I'm sorry but I think that an artist that scored more #1s than Elvis and spent more weeks at #1 than the Beatles should be considered at least. People may refer to Mariah's antics but compared to other inductees that used (and sold) drugs, made porn, slept with teenagers, worshipped Satan, and mutilated animals, the woman is pretty much a nun.
