About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

#1's to Infinity (51,661) by Bill from the UK
Wow. Brilliant.

Long Ago (51,648) by Bill from the UK
Completely agree with you Billy. I was blasting out the track in my car the other day and thinking to myself how it was more than a hint of what was to follow. Would not have been out of place on Butterfly and still sounds stunning twenty years later. Can't believe I first heard it that long ago. See what I did there?

New album cover (51,645) by Bill from the UK
I loved what I thought was going to be the new #1's album cover which is the headshot from the E=MC2 shoot used to promote the Vegas residency, but this new cover is even better. I do love the original #1's cover but this new one looks to be equally as good (58% at time of writing lol). Love the buzz going around about it. Well done Mariah and team and good luck for the residency, I'm really excited about what the rest of 2015 has in store.

Mimi L (51,586) by Bill from the UK
I agree, for me Emancipation was her most consistently good album since Butterfly, though not to infer on the albums inbetween of course. Circles and Mine Again were great tracks. Mine Again wouldn't have been out of place on her earlier records, and Circles sounds retro yet completely up to date at the same time, it's great. Your Girl was for a long time my most favourite track on the album. I loved its simplicity, how summery it sounded, and the instrumentation. But my ultimate favourite has got to be To The Floor. I know many fans don't rate that track, but I just love it. Sounds so free and sexy. I'm debuting my new avatar (did you all miss the Reveal Bill countdown I was doing for two days?) as much as I love ABMB (it will I think always be my favourite single cover), after several years of using it I have switched to a blue filtered Emotions shot.

Reveal Mariah (51,558) by Bill from the UK
Wow. Can I last 40 hours without exploding?

Mariah's new manager (51,552) by Bill from the UK
Shelly, you're wrong, she is not Mariah's new manager, she is a member of the illuminati.

Dan (51,521) by Bill from the UK
I agree. I'm hoping for a disc of the 18 #1s and another disc with new songs. Not an album's worth, but maybe 5 or so plus the demo tape from the debut would be enough for me. I also really hope the album includes AIWFCIY so it is the ultimate hits compilation. It's arguably her most well known song across the globe and is clearly her most popular.

What on earth are you talking about? Alienating JD? Where did that come from and what evidence do you have of that?

LC / Cindi (51,483) by Bill from the UK
With respect to your post LC, Cindi is one of the top publicists in the industry and as the CEO of the largest publicity company in the world, she clearly knows her business. What you say about Mariah's bad moments spreading like wild fire on social media is true, but all a publicist can do in that situation is issue some kind of statement, or advise Mariah to, if appropriate. What you say about remedying the situation with interviews etc. is more the job of a manager. If my memory serves me correctly, Mariah ditched Cindi after Glitter and then teamed up with LA for a great comeback. It looks like the same sequence of events again.

Nostalgia part 3 (51,454) by Bill from the UK
So it's now Christmas 1994. Everybody at school is talking about AIWFCIY, and how good it is, but I haven't heard it yet. Due to the string of ballads released from Music Box, I assumed it would be a slow song. I switched the radio on one night after school, and it came in at the bridge to AIWFCIY, although I didn't realise it was Mariah at the time. I remember thinking that the "hey yeah" ad-lib after the "everyone is singing" line sounded very Mariah-y, and then when the final verse ended and she sang the "all I want for Christmas" part, I felt my blood run cold and I jammed my finger on the "record" button (I always kept an emergency blank tape in the stereo), not caring what I was taping over. I stayed up all night switching stations trying to catch a glimpse of it again, and thankfully heard it twice more across different shows and was able to record it. I remember coming home from school one night and my lovely mum had bought me the cassette single as a surprise, I was over the moon, and loved the black and white picture of her in the sleigh. Then during the last few days of school before the Christmas break, one of my friends brought the album in and I spent the whole day listening to it on my Walkman, avoiding the festivities. The teacher came up to me and asked if I was okay, and I said I was perfectly happy sitting by myself listening to the album. Finally got my copy for Christmas (on Boxing Day from my aunt and uncle).

More nostalgia (51,437) by Bill from the UK
So it's autumn 1994. It's the October half term holiday and I'm "cat sitting" for my aunt with my nan. The only thing I pack is my Walkman and Mariah tapes. At this point I have managed to buy through pocket money both Emotions and the Unplugged album on cassette and have been playing them non stop, as well as buying the AYNAF single. Even though both AYNAF and Music Box were on the album, I wanted to buy the single because I loved the cover (and remember being surprised at her straightened hair lol). Each time I was in town, I used to go into the record shops and hold and stare at the debut album and try to remember its track listing. As a reward for cat sitting, my mum bought me the debut album. I remember her calling me whilst at my aunt's to check she had the right one. I could not wait to get home and listen to it. When I did, to my disappointment, it played the Emotions album, it was a faulty cassette. We took it back that weekend (if only I had the foresight to hang on it to as a collector's item. ) and I finally got to hear the album when it was replaced. It was agony having the lyrics there but no songs haha. Once home I sat in the back room of my house and played the debut album to myself, reading the lyrics and just loving the gold background the track listing had, thinking it was so beautiful. Got a couple more stories to share with you all, I love reading everyone's stories.

Kate / nostalgia (51,432) by Bill from the UK
I was born in the early 80s so I got to live through Mariah's career as it was taking off in Europe, it's what is so great about being a 90s kid. I remember I first saw her on the MTV chart countdown my older brother used to watch. I was 9, almost 10, when I walked into the room and was standing there dumbfounded at this beautiful woman running around a field singing about her dream lover. Literally frozen to the spot as I tried to take in her looks and her voice and the song. Something clicked in me then and I just knew she was special and would be an important part of my life. When Without You was released, I was a fan. The cassette single was the first Mariah item I ever bought (I wanted to buy the singles of Hero and Dreamlover but I had no pocket money left). I loved that sepia cover and loved Never Forget You as much as Without You. I then bought Music Box and used to listen to it in bed on my Walkman after lights out, learning the lyrics, gazing at her other album covers that were in the inlay and wanting to hear them so badly lol. I've got more stories which I will post later. Great topic.

Record reviews (51,361) by Bill from the UK
I've long been a fan of the Wilson & Alroy Record Reviews website. They cover all Mariah's albums and even her maxi singles. It's a great read, but be warned, they don't appear that keen on fan favourite Butterfly but really rate Daydream and Rainbow and others. Check it out.

Edward / Nick's book (51,322) by Bill from the UK
Please let this story about Nick's book be fake. The Daily Mail, for those of you not familiar, is an extremely right-wing, trashy, hackneyed tabloid with stories that border on out and out racism and has wound up in hot water several times over letting its journalists write whatever they want with no factual evidence to support it. I pray this story is nothing more than their usual celebratory divorce shit stirring they do every so often. Edward, "ace under her sling", absolutely brilliant.

Will / Tidal (51,262) by Bill from the UK
Hi Will. Personally I love Spotify. My mobile phone contract gives me two years for free, and I listen to it all the time and have discovered a heap of new music off the back of it. That said, I do agree that artists should receive royalties for their work of a fair amount. A happy medium would be if Spotify stuck to past, back catalogue releases, that have already made all the money they will ever make, and the newer releases are on a platform like Tidal. Kind of like Sky Movies vs Sky Movies Box Office.

MIAM / demo tape (51,217) by Bill from the UK
I can see why you don't believe the demo tape is real, but allow me to tell you something. We all know about "the" demo tape, the one Tommy Mottola got hold of at the industry party, played in his limo, and caused him to go rushing back to the party to find Mariah. You're right, Vanishing was not on that demo tape. However, when an artist is working on an album, they will produce demos of songs ahead of going into the studio to produce them. Think of them as rough cuts. Artists normally produce demos of several songs, so the record label can give the go ahead to start work on the album, suggest changes, say which ones don't work, etc., so it's entirely plausible that Mariah recorded a demo of Vanishing to say to Sony, "Hey, this is what we've written for the album you've commissioned me to record, what do you think?", rather than just blindly diving into a studio with no direction. For that reason I think that the tape may be genuine, but it's just downright mean to tease the fans with just a few seconds lol. I'd love to hear the songs on their entirety.

The Roof (51,202) by Bill from the UK
I need to just say that The Roof is one of Mariah's greatest compositions, and easily the best track on Butterfly. It is so moody, atmospheric, intense, and yet soothing. I really do transport with Mariah "back in time" when I hear this song. I am there on that roof with her. The song is like a painting, it's the only way I can describe its nuances and different colours and that driving, steady, rhythmic, almost urgent undertone it has thanks to the Shook Ones sample. The strings, the layers of soft vocals, the imagery, the delicate tinkling bells, the rooftop that rainy night.

Happy anniversary Mariah (51,185) by Bill from the UK
Happy anniversary Mariah. I love you so much. Thank you for being the soundtrack of my life and bringing me so much joy and pleasure with your music and singing. You are beautiful, your voice is beautiful, your songs are beautiful, and I will love you for all you have done for me until my dying day.

Playlists (51,147) by Bill from the UK
I am loving reading everybody's playlists. Here's a recent one I've been playing on my iPod:
1. AYNAF (Dave's Empty Pass)
2. The Roof
3. Crybaby
4. The One
5. If We
6. Make It Look Good
7. My All (Stay Awhile Remix)
8. ABMB (Mr Dupri Extended Mix)
9. Someday (Unplugged)
10. Music Box
11. I Still Believe (Pure Imagination Remix)
12. Fantasy (Def Club Mix)
13. Loverboy
14. Make It Happen (Unplugged)
15. DYKWYGT (Mariah Bonita)
16. Joy to the World (Celebration Mix)
17. TGIFY (Make It Last Remix)
18. Vanishing
19. Till The End Of Time
20. Everything Fades Away
Only with Mariah could one artist enable such a diverse playlist. From R&B, to soul, to pop, to hip hop, club anthems, quiet storm numbers, swooping ballads, genius sampling/collabs. I know we all know it anyway, but Mariah is nothing short of incredible. Compiling playlists of her different elements is one of my most favourite pass times so to read all yours is great for me.

Shelly (51,023) by Bill from the UK
What sad news, you are the loveliest person. But, you do what you need to do. Looking forward to seeing you after Vegas. Love the Someday demo, I hope Mariah is planning a 25th anniversary of the debut with the demo tape added on as a bonus, how great would that be to commemorate her career with what started it all? I can't believe I made the top 10 posters lol. Sorry everyone haha.

Rainbow (50,902) by Bill from the UK
Has anyone else been playing Rainbow on repeat since listening to that amazing interview? I've always enjoyed the album (except Did I Do That), but am seeing it and appreciating it in a whole different way now. In fact, DIDT is even beginning to grow on me. What is happening in this world? Lol.

Lee TS / Rainbow interview (50,867) by Bill from the UK
Thank you so much for sharing that Rainbow interview. It is one of the best interviews I have ever listened to. She was herself, spoke about her voice and the music and her race and her insecurity. It was illuminating and frank and candid and beautiful. Thank you.
