Mariah Carey dumped?
Mariah Carey is to be dumped by her record company, EMI Virgin Records, after they lost £6 million on her latest album, according to press reports. Carey's album Glitter has sold two million copies; her previous album, the Sony-recorded Music Box, sold 20 million copies.
Carey signed a four-record deal in April, but it appears that the company is keen to pay the warbler a lump sum of $15 million and call it quits. Carey's much-publicised "emotional breakdown" in the summer left her unable to complete her promotional work for the record and EMI Virgin are apparently worried that she has become a liability. According to the LA Times, Carey's management are trying to "thrash out a deal to pay her a multimillion dollar lump sum to leave the label". (People News)
