Celebrities support Hillary Clinton's campaign launch

Hillary Clinton officially launched her campaign for president on Saturday, and celebrities are showing their support on social media. As Gossip Cop reported, the former First Lady and Secretary of State announced in April that she is running for president in the 2016 election.

While there have been campaign events since then, a gathering this weekend at New York's Roosevelt Island really kicked her run into high gear. Hundreds showed up to watch Clinton's first major speech, including Olympian and activist Michelle Kwan. It was announced earlier this week that Kwan had joined Clinton's campaign as a full-time staff member.

But even stars who couldn't attend the rally were sure to show their allegiance online. Katy Perry told her followers to watch the live stream and "join the sisterhood of the traveling pantsuit". Barbra Streisand twice tweeted out the link, writing, "I'm a proud member of Team Hillary 2016, and you should be too. Seriously, what are you waiting for?" And Mariah Carey posted a message about it, too.

Chloe Grace Mortez wasn't even in the United States, but made sure to watch and tweet about Clinton. "Watching the launch live down here in Mexico. Loving the stance on education and students' needs," she wrote on Twitter. The actress went on to give additional comments, and shared a photo of herself in the shape of Clinton's campaign logo. Moretz added, "Hillary 2016 lovely start, let's keep it up. Can't wait for what's to come."

Andy Cohen was amused when a fan pointed out to him that Clinton was wearing "Ramona blue", a nod to "Real Housewives" star Ramona Singer. "It's hilarious and must be noted," he wrote. More seriously, Mia Farrow reposted some of her favorite parts of Clinton's speech, including, "We shouldd ban discrimination against LGBT Americans and their families so they can live, learn, marry and work just like everybody else," which Debra Messsing then retweeted.

Clinton's big appearance came less than two days after it was announced Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett will perform at a campaign fundraiser later this month, as Gossip Cop reported. What do you think of celebrities showing support for Clinton
