Celebs forced to evacuate as fire tears through Calabasas

A string of a-list celebs have been forced to abandon their homes after a fire began tearing through Calabasas. The blaze - which was first reported on Saturday - has forced people to evacuate after it began raging through the affluent neighbourhood in Los Angeles.

Just some of the stars who call the trendy location home include Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Jessica Simpson, Mariah Carey and Katie Holmes. Those famous faces were amongst the list of people being forced to flee from the area after authorities ordered 3,000 homes be evacuated.

Social media queen Kylie Jenner kept fans in the loop as the inferno neared dangerously close to her own property. The 19-year-old shared a number of videos as the smoke billowed high into the sky just a few miles in the distance. In one video, Kylie panicked: "There's the fire next to my house!"

Meanwhile on another the reality star could be heard questioning whether she'd also need to make a dash to safety. She said: "Am I going to have to evacuate?" while watching the flames near closer and closer.

Other stars have been updating fans on their safety, while also praising those working to combat the blaze. Kourtney Kardashian tweeted: "Need to express my gratitude towards the brave firefighters who keep us safe. Scary day yesterday and they are still going."

While Ellen DeGeneres added: "Firefighters and rescue teams from all over California are in Calabasas today. Unsung heroes is what they are." Brave firefighters finally began to gain ground on the inferno on Sunday.

However it's estimated that around 5,000 people had been forced to abandon their homes by that point. The fire is believed to have been sparked during a heatwave after a vehicle hit a utility pole that downed power lines.
