Mariah sings happy birthday to Big Boy
Yesterday, Big Boy from Power 106 celebrated his birthday. His morning show was a big party with Snoop Dogg, Warren G, and Nate Dogg. After college, Big Boy hooked up with the rap group Pharcyde and worked for them as a bodyguard. This was an adventurous and enlightening experience to be on the road touring with a hip hop group and further solidified Big's interest and experience in the hip hop music culture.
It was during this stint as a bodyguard in 1994 that Big Boy visited Power 106. The staff recognized Big Boy's presence and management offered him a job. Big Boy seized the opportunity and was soon a success on the air at Power 106. Big Boy has dominated the ratings in all of the timeslots he has occupied including nights, afternoons, and for the past few years, mornings.
The morning show "Big Boy's Neighborhood" is the most challenging show thus far Big has hosted because it encompasses so many topical and humorous elements on a daily basis. The exposure from the radio show and Big's relations in the hip hop industry have led to many other appearances and opportunities as well. Even people not into hip hop have been in intimate contact with Big Boy as the whole city of Los Angeles was covered with billboards of him in nothing but his sexy silk boxers, and other very creative marketing concepts.
