Songbird to the rescue
Ever since she was a little girl, Mariah Carey's obsessed with the tiny Pacific island of Guam. (She even named one of her Jack Russell terriers after the tropical oasis!) When she recently found out that the islands bird population is being endangered by tree snakes, the sultry songbird jumped at the chance to help. The singer touched down on the island, took a dip in the warm waters and spoke to island officials about saving the birds. Turns out Mariah's favorite canine, the Jack Russell, can do mortal combat with the slithering reptiles. Now Mariah's talking of donating some dogs to the island. All in a days work for a diva! (J14)
