Mariah's remake of Badfinger's "Without you" has recently made rounds on several talent
searches all over the world, sang by some of the most promising young discoveries today.
A couple of years ago on American Idol Season 1, Kelly Clarkson, then a rising popular
contestant in the idol search, sang Mariah's version of "Without you" to the delight of
the judges, critics, and fans alike. Kelly later won the talent search.
On December 2, X-Factor's (UK's answer to American Idol) Leona Lewis took the stage and
gave her own rendition of the song. Louis, one of the show's judges said of her
performance: "After that performance I think the UK has found itself the new Mariah Carey,
Celine Dion, something we haven't seen for a long time. You're going to be a big star."
Leona's voice has been repeatedly hailed as almost at par with Mariah's legendary pipes.
And to no surprise. Leona herself said Mariah is one of her influences.
In the Philippines, Pinoy Dream Academy's (local franchise of Star Academy) Irish is also
set to perform "Without you". Yesterday, during the 12th Expulsion Night, Yvan, another
PDA contestant, gave his rendition of Mariah's "Open arms".

How old are you Jake? I ask this question because you sounded really immature saying that. Like seriously? "The Art Of Letting Go" I dare say just might be the greatest song Mariah Carey ever wrote. Mariah's recent vocal mishaps haven't changed how I feel about her or her songs. In fact I'd argue it's made me love her even more and made her more relatable. She's Mariah Carey and I'll always support her because she's earned my loyalty. (Thursday 30 July 2015; 21:00)
