Mariah's South African Soiree
Mariah Carey arrived in South Africa Thursday morning to host the opening of a newly built, ultra-lavish Cape Town Hotel. A representative for the new One&Only resort confirmed to RadarOnline.com that Carey will attend the opening event Thursday night. "Everything's been kept very low key," said the hotel staffer. "I haven't yet seen her."
A local fan, identified as Sieraaj, wrote to share their sighting of the diva as she arrived in the city. "Mariah came out of Cape Town airport at around 9am this morning, wearing black. She looked very tired and her bodyguards didn't want her to stop and sign anything, but when my friend Clayton said, 'Mariah, you're a stone winner!' she told her bodyguards, 'I've gotta sign for him - he used the word!' and quickly signed Clayton's magazine (Clayton was the only person she signed anything for)."
Tonight South Africa reported that other stars expected to attend including Matt Damon - who is in Cape Town filming his new movie - rapper Mos Def and Sharon Stone. The resort, which officially opens on April 3, calls itself a "six-star hotel" and is likely to become a celebrity haven. With its very own Nobu, designer clothing boutique, and excursions like skydiving, it sounds like just the kind of ultra-luxe location M.C. would flock to. (RadarOnline)
