Trey Songz nears record atop R&B/Hip Hop chart
| | | Trey Songz | Trey Songz could have the longest no.1 charting R&B/Hip Hop Songs single, topping Grammy Award winners Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx and Maxwell, in weeks. "Can't Be Friends", the "Passion, Pain, and Pleasure" singer's fall 2010 hit logged its thirteenth (13th) week atop the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart Thursday, making it one of a select few to reach such a feat.
Current record holder, Mary J.Blige made history when her 2006 smash "Be Without You" logged fifteen weeks at no.1 and Maxwell, winning a Grammy for his single "Pretty Wings" last year, followed closely behind spending 14 weeks atop with "Wings". Mariah Carey ("We Belong Together") and Jamie Foxx ("Blame It") tie Maxwell with singles spending fourteen weeks atop the chart.
In related news, Trey Songz is set to release a third single from "Passion, Pain and Pleasure". Titled "Love Faces", a video for the single was shot over the weekend. A tour of the same name (Love Faces 2011), featuring "Lay It Down" singer Lloyd, kicks off February 11 in New York City. (Examiner)
