Mariah's Special Award at the American Music Awards
Monday, January 17 was a big night for many artists at the 27th Annual American Music Awards. In addition to the awards being given across various musical categories, a special Award of Achievement was presented to Mariah Carey. Producer Dick Clark says Mariah is receiving theaward in recognition of her extraordinary string of hits: "Do you realize she has had a Number One single every year of the decade? She has more Number One singles than any other solo female artist - fourteen in all."
Mariah has also set concert dates for Europe. She will give her first live performance in Britain in over three years when she appears at London’s Wembley Arena on February 26. The concert is just one of five scheduled Carey gigs in Europe; also on the roster are stops in Antwerp, Belgium on February 14; Milan, Italy on February 17; Cologne, Germany on February 20; and Paris, France on February 23.
Carey’s latest release Rainbow is currently at Number Seventeen on the Billboard 200 album chart. Her new single, "Thank God I Found You" (featuring Joe and 98 Degrees), will be released on January 25 in the U.S. and February 28 in the U.K.
