Mariah in Tunisia

It's now known that Mariah wasn't the first choice for the concerts which will help to promote tourism in Tunisia. The promotor told his first choice was Shakira but the capricious demands of the star convinced him to look for someone else. He then contacted French singer Charles Aznavour but the singer refused because he prefered more intimate venues.

Then whith the success of "The Emancipation of Mimi" and the announcement of a tour, he choose Mariah. He then needed to convince the star's tour manager, Michael Richardson. "Michael Richardson is the typical American businessman," tells the promotor. "He first took a lot of infos about Tunisia, then he visited us two times before he gave us a big file regarding the organization of the concert. He was finally convinced we were able to organize such a concert and told me 'everything's ok, you're up to date in Tunisia'."

They choose the "El Menzah" stadium for security reasons. Talking of security, kids under 12 aren't allowed inside the stadium. Most part of the audience will be standing, drink stands and toilets will be planned to make the long wait of the crowd nicer. The show which is about one and a half hour is expected to start around 22:30.

The sales of the tickets started very slow, but the promotors have good faith and are hoping for a big touristic repercussion.
