DJ Toomp working on upcoming Mariah Carey project

DJ Toomp
Hip-Hop super producer DJ Toomp has made a name for himself creating hard-hitting beats for the likes of T.I., Jay-Z and Kanye West. Now he's is delving into some smoother sounds. SOHH caught up with the Atlanta-based hit-maker and got the exclusive insight into his work with R&B diva Mariah Carey.

"I really haven't heard none of the other songs on Mariah's album but the one I brought is pretty hot," Toomp told SOHH. "It's gonna be a club banger. It's a little different working with Mariah. She usually writes her own stuff and when she goes into the booth there's usually nobody else there but her engineer. But what's crazy is the results are great. She's gone this far working like that so why try to change that?"

Toomp is also working with a new R&B trio, 620, through his company NZone Entertainment "My plan is to really introduce them the way Teddy Riley introduced Blackstreet," he revealed. On the hip-hop side of things, Toomp has recently laid down several songs on Ludacris' upcoming album.

Mariah Carey's upcoming untitled album is set for release in the first quarter of 2008.
