"I'll be lovin' u long time" is the third single from the album E=MC2. It is cowritten by Mariah Carey, Aldrin "DJ Toomp" Davis, Mark DeBarge, Johnson and Etterlene Jordan. The single was produced by Aldrin "DJ Toomp" Davis and Carey. "I'll be lovin' u long time" is a mid-tempo song that samples DeBarge's "Stay with me" and recalls the melodic riff of the "Hill Street Blues" theme music. In early June of 2008, while in Japan promoting E=MC2, Mariah stated that the song would be released as the third single.

In its review of E=MC2, the Los Angeles Times said that "In I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time her singing is so direct, understated and unglamorous it's almost shocking - like seeing a diva without makeup." Fox News said that the song had "just enough of a new twist to create the most elusive thing of all: a radio smash".

The song was first released in Japan, and during her promotional tour in June 2008, Mariah performed the song live at the 2008 MTV Video Awards Japan. The song was also the theme song for the telecast of the Japanese baseball match Mariah attended on May 28, 2008. It has peaked at #27 on Billboard's Japan Hot 100 chart, but flopped big time in the USA.

After her promotional activities ended in Japan, Mariah flew to Hawaii to shoot the music video. A remix version of "I'll be lovin' u long time", titled "I'll be lovin' u big time", features T.I.
