Mariah pulled in some big hitters

Mariah Carey's musical career has taken a battering over the past year but despite the recent death of her father she's expected to have a new single on her own MonarC Music label through Island Def Jam by late September. 20 tracks have been recorded so far and the album is expected to have a US release on 10 December.

Carey is working on tracks on the Isle of Capri and said, via her official web site, "I just wanted to thank you all so much for sending condolences for my father and to let you know that as always I'm thinking about you and I'm here and everything's going really well with the album". She's pulled in some big hitters to help with the album including Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, with whom she started work in May in Miami, while production duties have fallen to Jim Wright, Irv Gotti and Jermaine Dupri.
