Carey and Heston: Targets in turkey shoot
Singer Mariah Carey and veteran star Charlton Heston are just two of the performers named in the 22nd Annual Golden Raspberry Awards - aka the Razzies - with Glitter (pictured) receiving a host of nominations too. The event is subtitled Dis-honouring Worst Achievements In Film Since 1980.
Mariah Carey's cleavage is nominated as one of the Worst Screen Couples for Glitter in the awards, while Charlton Heston is up for Worst Supporting Actor for Cats And Dogs, Planet Of The Apes and Town & Country. Among Worst Actors are Ben Affleck (Pearl Harbor), Kevin Costner (3,000 Miles To Graceland), Tom Green (Freddy Got Fingered) and John Travolta (Domestic Disturbance).
Nominations for the Razzies' Worst Picture include Driven, Freddy Got Fingered, Glitter, Pearl Harbor and 3,000 Miles To Graceland. In the Worst Actress category are Mariah Carey (Glitter), Penelope Cruz (Blow/Captain Corelli's Mandolin/Vanilla Sky), Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider/Original Sin), Jennifer Lopez (Angel Eyes/The Wedding Planner) and Charlize Theron (Sweet November).
Among those nominated for Worst Supporting Actress are Drew Barrymore (Freddy Got Fingered) and Goldie Hawn (Town & Country). Pearl Harbor is one of the Worst Remake nominees. With eight Razzie nominations, Freddy Got Fingered is "Worst" movie. Driven has seven, Glitter six, Pearl Harbor six and 3,000 Miles To Graceland five.
Freddy is described as "the execrable, excrement-encrusted comedy" while Glitter is condemned as "the most butt-numbing box office bomb". The awards are held on March 23, a day before the Oscars. (TeleText.com) Many thanks to Eran Eden.
