Mariah Carey among the biggest "swimfluencers" of 2019

Jennifer Lopez and Jude Law are among the biggest "swimfluencers" driving swimsuit trends this season. According to the global fashion search platform Lyst's new Swimwear Trends 2019 report, five powerful celebrities are driving online swimsuit searches this year.

The brand compared the online shopping behaviour of more than five million shoppers per month searching, browsing and buying fashion across 12,000 designers and stores online, in addition to looking at social media mentions and engagement statistics worldwide since the beginning of 2019, to come up with the stars making a splash this season.

Ashley Graham
First up is the supermodel Ashley Graham - who, thanks to her longstanding collaborative partnership with the beachwear brand Swimsuits For All, is regularly spotted in the hottest new bikinis and one-pieces. Lyst found a 150 percent increase in searches for "Ashley Graham swimwear" in the US since the beginning of the year, and concluded that her social media swimwear pictures get 158 percent more likes on average than her other uploads.

Jennifer Lopez
JLo almost broke the Internet last month when she posted a photo online from the set of her upcoming film Hustlers in which she was rocking a baby-pink triangle bikini. Searches for "Jennifer Lopez bikini" are up 140 percent worldwide, and the demand for "pink bikini" went up 84 percent in the 48 hours following the post.

Mariah Carey
Superstar Mariah Carey sparked a craze for lilac bikinis after she posed in one back in January, with searches shooting up by 81 percent globally.

Selena Gomez
When actress and singer Selena Gomez wore a white L*Space bikini to celebrate her best friend's bachelorette party in February, online searches for white bikinis increased by over 50 percent and social mentions went up by 831 percent in just three hours, landing her the fourth spot on the list.

Jude Law
Proving that "swimfluencer" isn't just a title for the ladies is the actor Jude Law, who sparked a 180 percent increase in searches for "men's white swim briefs" after he was seen in a pair of white briefs while filming of the television series The Young Pope.
