Mariah Carey is no stranger to Platinum plaques, which is apt because she'll need to make room for more. A lot more. Moments ago, the RIAA announced that the diva supreme is being honored with the following new certifications:
* 7x Platinum for "The Emancipation of Mimi" album (2005, recognizing 7 million US sales)
* 6x Platinum for "We Belong Together" single (2005, recognizing 6 million US sales)
* 3x Platinum for "Touch My Body" single (2008, recognizing 3 million US sales)
* 1x Platinum for "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" album (2009, recognizing 1 million US sales)
So deserved! It goes without saying that both "Emancipation" and "We Belong Together" are stellar and serve as some of Mariah's most legendary work to date. We're also elated to see "Memoirs" receive its due, as it's one of her most underrated efforts to date.
