Mariah to launch MonarC
When Mariah Carey left Virgin Records amid much controversy and a $50 million dollar golden handshake, some doubted that the 32-year-old star would ever climb back to the top. However, only months later the singer signed an even bigger deal with Universal Music, which included her very own record label. Now it has been revealed that the label will be titled MonarC records - The capital "M" and "C" representing her initials, with the word "monarch" obviously meaning queen or ruler.
After a highly successful career that began way back in 1990, it seems fitting that only now should the singer be able to be the queen or her territory - the music industry. What's even more anticipated than the label of which her material will be released, is her debut album under the Universal imprint. The as-yet untitled release is expected to be one of the highest selling albums of this Christmas. The names of those working on the project reads like a who's who of hip hop music industry heavy weights!
Jermaine Dupri, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, 7 Aurelius, DJ Quik, Mike City, Damizza, Irv Gotti, Daniel Bedingfield and Ashanti are all either confirmed or rumoured to be taking part. Damizza, who has previously worked with Mariah on "Rainbow" and Glitter" has recently revealed, "Her album is off the hook. It's the most incredible yet!" Look out for the album instores this Christmas! (TV Hits Online) Many thanks to the Australian Mariah Carey Fanclub.
