Mariah: just business

The musicindustry isn't worth bowing under for, Mariah Carey (32) says. Her comeback single "Through the Rain" was recently released to radio, and the popdiva is excited about the reception of the song, but has decided that she will not let her work break her down again. It's not worth the stress. After last year's breakdown she has looked inside herself and come to the following conclusion: "I've had the chance to reflect and focus on my music. Now I realise that it's nothing to get stressed about. It's just business. What really matters, is people, family and friends - real friends. It's amazing to achieve success, but I could retire tomorrow and still have accomplished more than I could ever dream of," the singer explains.

Mariah has written all of the songs on her forthcoming album, released on December 2 (Dec. 10 in the US), and she describes the song as not similar to songs like "Hero" and "Vision of Love". "When people hear the song, they will most likely relate it to my personal struggle. Of course, everything you write comes from a place inside yourself, but I feel that it's also important to inspire others who've been through hard times. I wish to convince others that if you believe strong enough, you can get through anything in life. I believe that myself," Mariah says. She describes working on the new album as a "healing process".
