Groovevolt Music & Fashion Award winners announced
Groovevolt.com, one of the Internet's leading music sites, announced the winners Friday for its First Annual GV Music & Fashion Awards. Voting for the awards took place at Groovevolt.com beginning December 2. Sultry singer Mariah Carey took home four GV Music Awards, including honors for Best Hip-Hop Collaboration ("I Know What You Want" with Busta Rhymes), Best Female Pop Album (Charmbracelet), Best Female Song Performance ("Through the Rain"), and Best Unreleased Pop Album Track ("My Saving Grace").
"Thank you to our loyal readers who made the first annual GV Music Awards such an overwhelming success," Groovevolt.com Editor-in-Chief Chauncy Jackson said. "People complain about the state of the music industry, but our readers have highlighted the positive aspects that are so often overlooked."
"These awards reflect the feelings of the people who buy the music," Jackson said. "More than a half-million votes were cast by fans who were interested in voting for their favorite artists. The nominations were not influenced by record company politics, so we consider the results to be an accurate indicator of what was truly popular in the music world last year."
Nominees were chosen from artists whose albums were released from August 15, 2002 to August 31, 2003. Singles released during that time period were eligible, even if the albums from which the song came were not yet released. (Groovevolt)
